Paul back w/Ronson for new album news
-
It's great news that Paul has a new studio album in the works! There were tracks from Memory Almost Full, such as Ever Present Past, which I think is a great song. I don't understand why he doesn't perform Ever Present Past? Or, My Brave Face?

Sounds great, thanks for sharing.

It's great to hear someone praise Paul so profusely, he deserves it but that's the very reason this guy might not be the best producer for him to have. Ronson sounds like me if I were to produce him--in awe! He needs someone like Nigel Godrich who did Chaos. He wasn't afraid to challenge him assertively, even in insult him, and what resulted is quite possibly his best non-Beatles album ever. Still, those comments make me wish the album was coming out next week!

BTW - I was at three of the same McCartney shows as you, the one in NYC (1989) and the two in Charlotte (1993,2010)

Those were great shows, weren't they???? Seeing him for the very first time at the legendary Madison Square Garden was superb. Here's to making it to another concert this year. Got to be Atlanta though, I am too old to do that festival outside of Nashville.

Yes they were, I had great seats for show in MSG. After reading your post, went digging and found VCR tape of McCartney concert at Blockbuster Pavillion (now Verizon) in 1993 that was televised. I went to show but thought it would be cool to have recording as a souvenir. I decided to watch it and a few things hit me. First, McCartney still looked very boyish (with long hair) at age 50 !! Second, he did quite a few songs from his current record of the time (Off The Ground) and the crowd seem to enjoy the songs. Third, he did not play two Beatle songs back to back until very late in the concert which is quite different than today. Finally, since this was the end of the North American tour I was wondering if this was the last concert Linda McCartney ever did in the US.

I am sure Nigel was probably a bit in "awe" also but had the confidence in his ability to be honest with McCartney. Ronson only produced three songs on the new record so it will be interesting to hear the differences.

I would guess that since Paul has four producers (?) involved, he does sort of have to "take charge" a bit so the whole thing has a cohesive sound. Or maybe he's letting Giles Martin to do that for him.
