What is the youngest age you would take your child?

I think you were old enough. My mom took me to see The Beach Boys for my 5th birthday. I saw my second Beach Boys show last year, 21 years after the first show. They were awesome. Plus didn't your mom get to see the '76 tour? I would have used that against her to guilt her into letting you go!
Trust me I still bring it up...it was traumatizing for a die-hard young Paul fan. Of course the odds that at age 4 I would've been able to see anything from the floor were slim to none. She did see Wings in Denver back on the 76 tour...and we will both be wearing her Wings Over America T-shirts from that concert at each show this summer! Sounds like the Paul/Beatle loving started young for you too!

Well you've seen Paul more than I have so your mom is at least making up for it, including Venus & Mars/Rockshow in 2009! Can't believe I missed that tour. That's when he first started sprinkling his tour dates and he never came near Chicago. I was too broke to travel far and the shows were announced last minute. Hoping he opens with it this tour. I'm not looking at any set lists before the first show I see in Tulsa so if he does open with it, what a surprise it will be. That first night is my birthday and my friends first McCartney show and we scored 6th row in the presale, so we'll be partying hard. Two night of Paul then the Stones in Chicago on the 31st! It's now or never. Music loving in general began at an early age. I'll be playing outside Paul's shows this summer and selling my CD so I won't be hard to find. Unless they arrest me for loitering or solicitation, in that case I will be hard to find. (a tulsa jail)

Venus and Mars/Rockshow as an opener was incredible. I'm always excited to get more Wings in the set list so hearing him open the show with it the same as '76 was mind blowing. Have a great time in Tulsa, of course with McCartney, 6th row and a birthday your night is sure to be memorable! Just don't lose your voice the first night...I sang/screamed so loud the first night in Chicago that I lost my voice halfway thru...absolutely shredded it the next night. If you'll be playing outside the shows I'll try to stop by...unless you're playing in the county jail in which case you're on your own

Paul did mention playing the other Chicago ballpark in the first band he was in. The only thing was you couldn't hear anything because there were all these screaming girls. I guess you continued the tradition. When I told the woman in front of me in St. Louis that I had seen McCartney at Shea Stadium (the surprise appearance at a Billy Joel concert in 200 she responded "I saw The Beatles at Shea." (Super mature like a 60 year old woman would answer.) I asked which year, she said "both." I went on to ask her if they really only played for 30 minutes and if she was able to hear anything. She said they played for 35 minutes and she never heard a single note. There was a somber, reflective feeling in the air after she said that. I broke the awkward silence with, "Well, you'll be able to hear him tonight!!" I chatted up another mature woman last summer. I was wearing a McCartney t-shirt and she was surprised people my age still listened to The Beatles. I asked her if she had ever seen Paul in concert before and she replied like it was no big deal, "Oh, I use to see him all the time when he was in The Beatles. I'm from Liverpool." Must have been nice to walk over to the Cavern and see The Beatles when you were done with your homework. I almost wanted to ask her for her autograph. I've never been to Tulsa so I can't vogue for how cool they are, but I'll be bringing the party while I'm still allowed in. Just bought a dozen beach balls to throw out; a couple during Band On The Run and the rest during Hey Jude. Yes we're going to a party, party...

OK, I am nervous now. I got 13th row, right of the stage on the field in Seattle. I'm taking my 6.5 year old because she LOVES Paul and the Beatles and I figure this is a once in a lifetime chance. Doubt he will ever come back to Seattle. It's been ages since I've been to a big rock show. On the field will there still be some assemblance of rows? My kid is going to have to stand on a chair for sure, but I'm wondering if the chairs will even be in place. I don't want this to be an awful experience for her, I want her to enjoy it. I think she will be able to handle the noise/lights (we've been to other shows, just not as big) but I am worried about getting squished. Will that only be happening near the stage? By the way, I was trying to get seats in lower balcony because of her age, but I couldn't find anything. Two seats on the field came up and I just snatched them up. Funny how 13th row seems like a downer now, I should be ecstatic.

All depends on the particular child. You probably would know the best as a parent. Just fix proper ear protection. Not that McCartney's concerts are so loud - even less so in seating venues... - but still volumes like that could be very uncomfortable for a young 'un.
-
Yes, there will be sensible rows with chairs. Only you will be able to decide if they are fit for your child to stand on, but remain close throughout, as they will most likely be tipping seats. There should not be a crush at your location. The stage is elevated above the floor seating level and there will be repeater screens for close-ups of Paul and the band. The show is long so expect your child to require a toilet break at some time, which can also serve as a "time out" from the all embracing sound and light show - maybe a snack break too. Maybe look at past set lists and deliberately plan a break rather than have a battle of wills with your child as you get immersed in the experience. Most importantly, as mentioned earlier, consider buying and practising your child with ear protection - either in-ear plugs or a "headphone" style muffler - as there is no escape from the noise which is at a level that will distress youngsters unaccustomed to the experience. Buy them early and get the child used to wearing them ahead of the show. It should be fine..... Martin

I bought one of these, and brought it to a show once with my young one: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000VZM8CW/ Gave him an extra 12" of height to stand on, and it's very light and portable. (It folds, and has a handle.)
-
The stepstool is a brilliant idea! I wasn't sure what kind of seats there would be but expected them to be flimsy. Thanks for the info. I have two different kinds of earplugs and we will be practicing with them prior to the show. She had told me before she's afraid she won't be able to hear Paul with them in, but I know she will be glad to have them. I had hoped to avoid looking at set lists (I'd like a surprise) but it's a great idea to plan breaks. Maybe I can have someone on the board make a suggestion instead.
-
I'd be call the venue before attempting to bring in a step stool. Just a heads up.

Yes. Field seats at stadium shows are usually just plastic folding chairs, often tied together with plastic cable ties to keep them in rows.
-
Yes, I would check about the step stool-I''m betting there is no way they would let it in.. I'd also be prepared for some upset fans, if their view is blocked by your child standing on her seat....

I love all the different people you meet at Paul concerts. Everyone is in such a great mood and telling stories...love the atmosphere at Paul's shows. I saw him in Tulsa back in 2009...not my favorite city I've travelled to for Paul. Hopefully the venue has improved on handling a crowd that size because they were I'll prepared a few years ago. I feel like we've gotten off topic though...

Safeco field responded that they wouldn't allow me to bring a collapsable stepstool into the stadium. Which is too bad as she would be able to see fine and not obstruct anyone's view. They suggested that she stand on her seat which seems much less safe and I really don't want to have her get in anyone's way. We are all spending a lot of money to see a great show. I may try to do a trade in tickets with someone in lower deck first couple of rows so she can see comfortably. Seems like a shame to give up great seats though. I'm sure I could sell them no problem but getting 13th row to this show is like a dream come true. Any other suggestions? I wish there was an inflatable step stool.

Glad you checked with the venue. I didn't think they would allow that stool in after looking at it on Amazon.
-
Ive brought the stepstool with me to several events and never had an issue, but I guess every venue is different. I will admit that once or twice, I have been briefly questioned by the staff on my way inside, and i just tell them 'its a booster for my child', which is technically true. And that's it. It really doesnt take up much space, especially when in the folded position.

What is the youngest age you would take your child to a Macca concert?
Old enough to appreciate the man and the music = old enough to go. I will never EVER forgive my parents for not allowing me to go to the Wings show in 1976 (I was 13). I know, it was a crazier time back then but still... I was old enough to love the man and the band! My parents were old school, they thought rock and roll was noise and would never have taken me. Back then, parents and kids never liked the same music!

My first show (2011) I was only 11. Now I'm 13.
How cool. Love it that you younger fans are able to go!
