Is he ignoring the UK
-
after all the bad press last year regarding the performances at the queens party and the olympics do you think Paul is staying away from UK Shows
-
I would, if I was him. People in the UK made clear that they were tired of seeing him perform there and that he was overexposed in Britain. So why go where you're not wanted. especially when you are wanted everywhere else.
-
I agree too. He rocks when he does the states and south america

His *fans* didn't. The twitter morons and stupid socialmedia culture that most countries also have - yep they did. But they probably didn't like him in the first place. But fans didn't. Why punish fans who would easily snap up concert tickets if he played here
-
I dont think he is "punishing" *real* fans, but it does seem Paul is far more loved in other parts of the world. I expect he is tired of the British press and the nasty stuff that was said after the Olympics--something he really wanted to do and I expect he was not happy with the comments. I've seen those type of comments even here--from UK "fans" (and I dont think I need to elaborate on who). Why would Paul want to perform in that atmosphere? We have twitter and social media in the states and I dont think there is the nastiness toward Paul that came about in the UK. If the UK doesn't appreciate him, he should go where he is appreciated.
-
He's not really bothered with us here in the UK for best part of the last 10 years, and after last years two very poor performances, I don't see that changing anytime soon. He'll lap up the attention & dosh elsewhere.

Slight generalisation there.

Its a real shame if this is the case, but Paul sure did get some negative press after last year. He'll probably never do a large scale UK tour like in 2003, just the odd show here and there.

That's not true. But the tone of your comment reveals why he's not rushing to perform at home any time soon. In fact since 2003 -- meaning the past 10 years in which he "hasn't bothered with us": * In 2003, he did his big UK tour with multiple shows in Liverpool, Sheffield, Dublin, London, Birmingham, Manchester. * In 2004, he did Glastonbury (and a bunch of stops in Europe. No US shows) (In 2005, he did his big US tour) (He didn't perform anywhere in 2006; other things going on) * In 2007, he had multiple shows in London (iTunes festival, Electric proms, etc; another year in which he didn't perform much anywhere) * In 2008, he did the huge Liverpool Anfield show (2008 was another year in which he did a few big events -- Kiev, Quebec, Israel -- and that was it) * In 2009 (for Good Evening Europe) he had shows in London and Dublin, as well as the Children in Need show in London. * In 2010, he had large concerts in Cardiff, Glasgow, London (Hard Rock Calling), Isle of Wight, Dublin and Liverpool. * In 2011, he had shows in Liverpool and Manchester, and London. * And then in 2012 he had the Jubilee and the Olympics, one 15-minute performance and one 5-minute performance that didn't go well for him, and about which many people in the UK displayed a distinct lack of compassion. I hope he eventually decides to do some shows in the UK. But I can see why he'd want to give it time.

I would take Paul on his worse day over just about anyone else! So he had a couple less then stellar performances, still I believe they were both for free to the public!
-
Couldn't agree more taxman . I'm Scottish / British , and can completely understand why Paul would be in no rush to play here again. I'm sad to say that (in general) - both Paul and Ringo are treated better in the states. Compare the 121212 concert to the jubilee and Olympics .... Also I saw Ringo in Clearwater , Florida in 2010 - it was like Beatlmania ! .....

Well there you have it!
-
I say the heck with them if they don't want Paul to play there,no point in wasting time in places you are not wanted,he has better places to play.
-
This tour's gonna make them wish for a Paul McCartney concert like never before. I have never felt this excited for one of his tours. And, considering the awesome shows I've already seen, that's sayin' somethin'!

Yes there you have it, as far back as 1993 he wasn't filling venues here in the UK, and his core fan base over here has all but dissapeared i'm afraid, you only have to look at sales figures & chart positions to see that. No matter what he does or how great it is ( Chaos CD over here within two months of release was being sold in the bargin bins for £1 !!! ) very few are interested, shame but true, I dont like it but that's how it is, & last years shows here only made matters worse.

Paul loves Brasil like martians love USA Every year he plays there :

I only have to look at forums and Facebook pages belonging to other artists to see how critical and negative Paul`s fans generally are. And that is fans from ALL countries. No one in in a position to be smug. Michelley, not so long ago, you were criticising his hair and saying everyone you spoke to criticised it. How ridiculous and petty. I might add that most artists actually don`t have official fan forums on their websites - certainly not free ones.

I don't understand,: at all, many comments from some folks in the UK when they are less than stellar about Paul. I've had conversations with my friends in the US and we are all puzzled and left scratching our heads over this... I'm really soooo happy that he's coming back to the States to tour. Everyone I speak to here LOVES Paul and nothing but good comment over here!! The only question is how many Beatles songs he should play!! Personally, I prefer more WINGS songs. It's like life... would you rather spend time with friends who REALLY love you, or those who are hyper critical of you. I know what my answer would be...

Well he would look much better with gray hair, a short beard, and a short haircut. That's just plain fact. But I do agree that Paul's fans, whatever their location, tend to be hypercritical of him, more so than I've seen for other artists. My theory on that: Paul is such a diverse artist and has had so many different careers that fans come to his music from many different places. There are Beatles fans, Wings fans, fans who like solo Paul (1980-present), and others who are huge fans of McCartney II and his Fireman stuff. And then there are those who love certain periods of his career and hate other periods. And each group wants him to do more of the type of music THEY prefer and get irritated at him when he doesn't. And lets face it: He goes his own way and rarely does what any of us want him to do. Many other artists are less diverse in their work, and thus, less divisive for their fans. I'm seeing Paul in July -- for only the second time. This July will mark the 3rd time he's been to my area in 10 years, so I'm luckier than some but not as lucky as others (you people in New York and London are spoiled!)

As Michelly listed previously, Paul has performed in the U.K. often over the past decade, so it's not like he's "ignoring" fans there. Performing in the U.S. has always held a special allure and thrill for him beginning in the 1960s, because rock n' roll came from here and he's pointed out he grew up without that type of music in his early years, so when the music of Elvis, Fats Domino, Chuck Berry and other rock pioneers appeared in the U.K., that was an enormous charge for them, to hear rock n' roll. A really big rush. The U.K. appears to have a plethora of music lovers and always has. He's still got loads of true fans there. But a theory of mine is that Brits are unusually envious and jealous, and that trait or tendency accounts for much of the badmouthing Paul has endured there, in his own region where he ought to be especially treasured, and cherished. I love his longish sort of fancy hairstyle, by the way, didn't fancy it as much when it was cut brutally short in the early 2000s but certainly still appreciated him anyway and found him attractive. I just like longer hair on guys generally.
