I'm confused--I've never heard "Wings Over The World" as a 'famous phrase' prior to Paul and Wings. (and I was 21 in 1976 btw) Maybe you were thinking of "Moon Over Miami" or something like that.
Well, I know "Wings Over _______" was used in various old movies... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wings_Over_Honolulu http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wings_Over_Africa http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wings_Over_Everest I'm sure there's other pre-1975 examples of "Wings Over", but I can't think of them at the moment....

Oh, okay, I see now--it was not that the phrase "Wings Over The World" was famous, but "Wings Over...(whatever)" was in the movies.

I love WINGS OVER AMERICA but I think it is weird if McCartney does a completely new tour to promote a re-issue of recordings released over three decades ago. All I mean is it would be cool if he plays two or three new songs, even if the new CD isn't released yet. And why call it OUT THERE?? Why not McCartney OVER THE WORLD!!
Exactly i just find it a bit odd to go to this lengths over the stage etc without a new album to sit on the back of it now what im hoping for is for Paul to say mid concert this songs of the new album released whenever etc,i doubt very much sadly but i hope im wrong. Does this tour has anything really to do with the reissues surely not? given Pauls been very active (thank god for that too) i dont remember any of the other re issues having anything to do with that tour. The tour name doesn't bother really im not sure what its relating to to be honest but as with any artist i see i remember the person not the tour name. My grumbles aside im looking forward to the tour when it reaches dear old blighty
I just find it odd that people are getting so "excited" about a different stage. McCartney playing new songs from upcoming record or Wings/Solo songs that have not been done live before would be the only thing to excite me about this tour.
I think it's really funny that people are complaining about the songs/lack of songs/changes or not to set lists/ new stage. At this point, you attend a Paul McCartney concert to see the man, the myth, the legend- live on stage. It is never the same experience twice. I personally wouldn't care if he sat at the piano and recited from Shakespeare the entire time. He can do what he wants, there is only one Paul McCartney!

Not exactly the same experience twice. More like 85% the same experience twice.

This opinion is exactly why he completely rests on his laurels and continues to churn out the same old tired Beatles heavy set list tour after tour after tour. He needs audiences that challenge him and push him to change stuff up instead of being content with the same old same old.

Exactly and it is not going to change espcially at his age now. Most of the audience would be thrilled if he did a all Beatle show so doubt he is ever going to get audience that will challenge him. You needed to see McCartney at the 89 or 93 tours when he did at least 5-6 songs from his current records at the time. Heck, he even opened with a non-Beatle/Wings song during 1989 tour. If my memory is correct, he did "Another Day" during the 1993 tour which was a pleasant surprise.

Everyone SAYS they want to challenge Paul but then go and buy high priced tickets to his shows. Having said that, I would pay to see him in Albuquerque. But other than that, no, I cannot justify it anymore. I have seen the man, the legend, the Beatle, and it was fantastic. But I cannot travel out of state to go see this show.

Yes! And he did FIXING A HOLE and PAPERBACK WRITER in 1993. And MICHELLE and HERE THERE AND EVERYWHERE, pretty much most songs people want him to do he did in 1993.

Exactly. I don't think I would pay the price to see him even if he came to Charlotte NC. I have seen him from 1976 to 2010 and seeing him again for maybe a 5-6 song change in setlist is not worth a few hundred dollars. Like you said, I have seen the man,the legend and the Beatle and it was fantastic but time to spend my entertainment dollar on other concerts.

Yep, mostly the same songs and encores. Repeated stories (Blackbird, Something, Here Today etc) about songs.

I'm not sure how everyone knows the set list already - the only song I saw mentioned by name being performed during rehearsals is 'My Valentine'...The only other song I think can be surmised by the photos from the rehearsals is possibly 'Live and Let Die' (based on the photos of Paul sitting at the piano and with the pyro show going off around him) There's an interesting photo of Paul and Abe both at the mic and both holding guitars...I'm wondering what that could've been...although it could also mean they were just fooling around during that particular rehearsal
-
The one with Paul and Abe is Hope of Deliverance.

I was outside the stadium with other fans and we could hear the soundcheck. The setlist seems incredible, but it is real. I do not remember the correct order, though: Blue Suede Shoes Got To Get You Into My Life Sing The Changes Let 'Em In Calico Skies We Can Work It Out Eight Days A Week Being For The Benefit Of Mr. Kite Lovely Rita Another Day Hope Of Deliverance Listen To What The Man Said Hi Hi Hi All Together Now Your Mother Should Know Blackbird Here Today

There's at least 8 songs there that hasn't been played by Paul since at least the 'My Band' era (and several that have never been performed live by Paul)...I hope we get at least 5 of them in the actual set list (I'll stick to my Yellow Submarine soundtrack for my 'All Together Now' fix...LOL)

I will give McCartney some credit if there really is 8 different songs but "All Together Now" and "Blue Suede Shoes", really. Yes, McCartney does 50's rock great but cmon give me a solo song that was a top 20 hit like "Take It Away". The other different songs from the "My Band era" should be pretty cool, hope it it really does happen for the fans being there.

Your Mother Should Know and Lovely Rita would be amazing!

I bet there will be even more changes than 8 different songs, from that one rehearsal .... We shall see soon enough.

[I bet there will be even more changes than 8 different songs, from that one rehearsal .... Aahh...an optimist! I love it! Keep those positive thoughts going!

Personally ANY set list would do me except Paul seems to have forgotten he has UK fans....y'know, the country where HE lives!!!
