Orlando, Florida, Amway Center, May 18th - ARCHIVE

Hey everyone, I'm new to the site as of this morning, and very excited to be going to my first Paul McCartney show on the 18th. I'm driving 10 hours from Tennessee that morning with my son, who is celebrating his 10th birthday that day! He's always been a Beatles fan, so I figured "You only live once!" I have driven to Orlando several times before (I do have 2 young children), but I have never stayed in the downtown area. We have a room at the Crowne Plaza, which I have heard is close to the Arena, but I'm not sure if it's close enough to walk back to with a 10 year old post-concert. Does anyone know the area well? I'm wondering if I need to look into a taxi or shuttle for the less than a mile trek. Also, I haven't been to a concert in years, and have never been to one of this magnitude; how early do we need to get to the arena? I'd hate to miss the beginning of the show because we're stuck outside in a line. Any advice is very welcome. Thanks!

Your hotel is one mile from the Amway Center. I would not recommend walking as Orlando has some less than safe neighborhoods. Enjoy the show!! Ron

Welcome..I'm going to the first show on the 18 th and I have a room but it's closer to the airport as I am flying in at the end of the week. I have a son who lives there and I will stay there until the show.I have an extra ticket if you might know someone who needs one.. Just thought I'd ask since I have had this ticket on a site to sell but no one wants it(so far) Not the front row, like everyone wants but a seat(nose bleed) Sec. 229- in the next time zone.. Hope to see ya there..as I'm "OUT THERE" soon!!

The Amway pretty much always uses the layout on Ticketmaster. It has not changed a bit since the day tickets went on. If you bought 4th row then yes YOU HAVE THAT ROW. A venue would be pretty crappy to switch it like that. Plus the arena is small so you will feel pretty close anyway.
They will be only 3 rows of people in front of her, but the physical distance to Paul may be more equivalent to 8th row or so, when compared to other normal setups at Amway.
The platform is shown on the TM map for Amway 5/18. and agree that it's the physical distance that's going to be different. If the platform stayed at stage level and Paul used it a lot during the concert, he would be closer, but if he stays on the regular stage all night except for 2 songs, he is going to be farther away than people expected when they bought their soundcheck packages.

Just purchased 2 floor seats in row 12 so I need to sell these amazing suite tickets! I have a pair of tickets to see Paul McCartney at the Amway Center on Sunday night May 19th. These tickets are in Presidents Suite #28 - Row 1 - Seats 1 and 2. This is the closest Suite to the stage. The closest suites in proximity to the Amway Center?s upscale restaurant and private club concourse, Presidents Suites are just 27 rows from the floor. All feature an elegantly appointed lounge area, fixed seating for 12* and private access via VIP elevator and suite holders? concourse. Ron 863-512-9318

DO NOT WALK. Downtown Orlando is famous for being a bit unsavoury after dark in particular. Grab a cab, please. Especially with your kid coming with.

Thanks to everyone who responded. I'm relieved that other people agree about not walking at night, even when the distance is less than a mile. I found out that our hotel does have a shuttle, but it only runs until 11:00 PM. Does anyone know how long the shows have been lasting so far this tour? I'm not sure if that will give us enough time, and I'd hate to miss the end (or should I say "The End"?). If that isn't enough time, I'll likely look into booking a cab for the ride. Thanks again!

Question for someone going to the Orlando soundcheck: What time were you told to arrive? I'm going in Memphis, and I know I should receive the email in the next couple of days, but we are trying to plan what time to leave St. Louis that morning and I don't want to cut it close. I've never been to soundcheck before, but I have heard you need to arrive as early as 3pm. Hoping it's closer to 4pm, but I'm okay with whatever they say....I will be there!!!! Thanks!

Sunday's soundcheck check in changed to 4:00 instead of 3:15. Also received email about Saturday's change to 3:45. Anybody hear any reasons why?
