I am surprised you find any you DO like
Believe me if i'd had more time & included B-sides etc there would have been more ! I love most of his work, but lets face it he has committed some howlers to tape over the years.
How odd! Half the songs on your list are on my list of all time favourites

Just a little negative aside here, I was just thinking when you lot are listening to an album of Paul's which tracks do you tend to skip? What are your least favorite Paul songs?
No contest, "The Girl is Mine". Just embarrassing and creepy, and made worse by MJ's presence. That whole "I'm a lover not a fighter" line from MJ--like Paul couldn't kick MJ's ass from here to the moon with one hand tied behind his back. Yuck! I believe MJ wrote it, thank God Paul was not blamed for this piece of dreck.

Seriously? You have put in some AWESOME songs! Warm and Beautiful is lovely. Here Today--OMG, that song is such a beautiful tribute to John. Ou Est Le Solil is cool, as is Dance Tonight and Calico Skies. And the Ram songs and the RRS medley--seriously? I dont know what to say, you have picked out many great Paul songs and maybe you need to listen a bit more? I agree with you on Children Children though. It creeps me out now, knowing it was written for Michael Jackson.

That last one was PAINFUL for me, Macca Mad.
Seriously!!! And this is why people can't reach any agreement on Paul McCartney's solo career. Because most of the songs on Macca Mad's list, I wouldn't dream of skipping. Smile Away? Eat at Home? Mamunia? Baby's Request? Nobody Knows? Calico Skies? English Tea? OK, I'll gladly give you Ebony & Ivory but Great Day?? Light from Your Lighthouse? I LOVE all of those. Paul is so many different songwriters rolled up into one. One thing is clear: I could never have dinner at Macca Mad's house. We'd be fighting over the stereo.
Totally! Especially "Smile Away", "Eat At Home" and "Nobody Knows". Love 'em!

As far as skips go, I usually don't skip anything, even my lesser favorites play through. However, if/when I do... Biker Like An Icon See Your Sunshine Freedom And I just don't listen to Broadstreet or Pipes Of Peace.

House Of Wax is awesome..sounds like early Wings

Children, Children was written by Denny Laine for his children who he was missing at the time, never heard that it was written for Jacko at all !? As for listening to these songs a bit more....i've given most of them the best part of 30+ years, they aint gonna grow on me now ! I stand by my list & as ive said wait till i go through the B-sides etc. Surely I can't be the only person who obviously doesn't love everything he's done !!?? If his new album came out & was the same quality as Red Rose Speedway, Pipes Of Peace, McCartney II or Speed Of Sound would most people on here be satisfied ? I know I wont be !

McCartney II is brilliant. So I'd be thrilled if the next album was as great as that album. I'm not a huge fan of any of the other 3 albums you list, though (especially not Pipes of Peace which I consider one of his worst albums).

Children Children was to be given to MJ to sing, I dont know that it was written *specifically* for him. If Macca did another album like Red Rose Speedway, I would be thrilled. I love that album, as well as McCartney II. I dont love *everything* he has done, but there are only a few I really will not listen to. I admit that parts of Speed of Sound dont end up on my turntable very often, but that would be the songs Paul did not sing. There are some awesome songs on there too--Beware My Love, Silly Love Songs, Let Em In and yes, Warm and Beautiful.

I mainly just skip the non-Paul sung Wings tracks. Otherwise, I usually try to listen to everything

As far as i'm aware it was only Girlfriend from London Town that was offered to MJ not Children Children.

Snap, although if he was offered Children,Children i'd like to see the quote / interview.

In my view, for what it's worth ( not alot you all cry ) McCartney II at best would make a good EP, Red Rose Speedway he released mostly the wrong songs he'd recorded for it ( & two of the best songs were Ram leftovers ), Pipes Of Peace as we know is a mish mash of TOW left overs & quick fix duets & the odd good song, & Speed Of Sound was a rushed release before a World tour in which he gave two of the best songs to others to sing & Denny's Time To Hide is for me the best of the bunch. For me the best run he's had with albums started with Press To Play - Chaos, in those years he hardly put a foot wrong, the last two MAF & the Fireman Album are very hit & miss, hopefully it wont be too long to find out what he has in store next.

Used to skip "Average Person" and "Famous Groupies" and "Nod Your Head" but came to appreciate "Nod Your Head" more, later, sometimes will skip a few through over-familiarity and need to give 'em a rest for awhile, even though they're fantastic. Such as "Band on the Run" and even "Jet." Although I get quite a charge out of "Jet" usually and dig the changes in "Band on the Run." Nice.

I will only listen to So Bad if I want to laugh at how dumb it is! IMHO. otherwise I don't skip much. my list of occasional skips would probably be pretty long though actually.. I normally throw on a Paul record to hear specific songs, now that I think about it. not only do I not skip See Your Sunshine, I almost never play it only once. I'm very weird with my fascination with that recording. its lame and yet one of the most wicked sounding things I've ever heard all at once! another cheese one I like a lot is How Many People! I do like some of Paul's cheese. just not So Bad. although I don't like anything from Broadstreet. That album and Press To Play are the worst for me. 3rd worst probably Pipes of Peace. however PTP and POP both have some cool stuff on them.

So funny how music can strike people so differently. When I was truly discovering Paul McCartney's craft for the first time -- via PTP -- to my ears, I was hearing something that I considered to be starkly above the fray, compared to a lot of Top 40 doo-doo that was being crammed down my throat.
