....oh yeah and totally forgot to mention Denny Laine looked completely stoned throughout the whole gig!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Just a theory but don't you think the reason Paul had to do so many overdubs on the backing vocals might have been related to Denny being so stoned??

And did anybody else notice the guy in the audience shown during HI HI Hi...he looked suspiciously like John Lennon!!!......really
Wouldn't surprise me a bit if he was lurking in the audience of this show.

From all accounts I've heard regarding US showings, they've all been pretty crappy.
That's not actually the case.
It actually IS the case. If you read my statement, I said "from all accounts I'VE HEARD". I am glad, though, it was at least good somewhere. The point I was trying to make, however, is that these issues should not be happening. I see no reason why there couldn't be a clear picture with quality sound, in surround. I, personally, feel ripped-off. I love this show and I will be buying the blue-ray, but many people are having poor theater experiences... at $10 a pop. At this point, I've driven my point home as much as possible. I really just wanted to share my experience anyway. There's nothing that can be done for all people who got a poor quality viewing. I do hope things get better for everyone else's trip to the cinema. It's an AWESOME film and it deserves to be presented the right way!

Oh, and Denny Laine, was a bad mother-f'er! He can smoke all the weed in Jamaica and still nail those backing vocals!! Jeez, I miss him! Not to be doggin' on Linda. I LOVE her, but I'd be willing to bet it was her vocals that needed the most fixing in the studio. I'm out!

I agree with sarah1471 completely, our sound was adequate in volume but the backing vocals and audience were quite muted, although we could hear them. Paul's vocals were sublime. Denny was stoned out of his mind and seemed to get worse as the night went on. LOL. My 21 year old son commented on that and also was very impressed with Jimmy (being a guitar player himself). I don't know the story around the Wings break up, but it has to be pretty bad if Paul won't even mention Denny's name when he is such a huge part of the film. I wonder what he's doing now? I have to admit, I really do like a lot of the songs that he takes lead vocal on. My overall impression and feeling about the film was.....whoa, that Macca guy is talented! I'm so glad I went and got to experience the '76 tour...almost like being there (one of the biggest regrets of my life is that I didn't go, but I was only 13). There were 16 people in attendance at our theatre and we did not receive posters (although I thought I read on here that some people did). There were no commercials or promos or anything played before the movie started, which was very strange, it was just dead silent and then suddenly, there was present day Paul introducing the film.

Oh and here in Canada, the price was $16. A regular movie is $10.

Time to Hide was brilliant as was Go Now. My ticket was £16!!!! If you You Tube Denny you will find a very recent interview with him which gives his version of the break up (minus the newspaper slagging he gave the McCartneys in the '80s). They are friends again now. But still Paul never seems to give him any credit for his part in the Wings sound......just sayin'

I must be in the minority.... My showing last week was sold out (albeit only about 75 seats... its a smaller cinema)... and sounded great... and I am pretty picky. No complaints whatsoever.

I ended up seeing it twice, and unfortunately was about 15 minutes late to the first one due to getting lost on the way. There weren't so many people at either showing, I want to say about 30 or less. I did enjoy myself greatly both times and pretty much tapped my feet throughout the film. I was the only one both times to sit in the front seats! The sound was great as far as I can tell. I have to dig up my VHS copy of RockShow (I recorded it off of VH1 during the 90's) to see how it compares. Will definitely be getting the DVD and it's a bonus that it comes out on my birthday!

Denny Laine was a crucial member of Wings. He co-wrote MULL OF KINTYRE, their biggest hit. I remember reading an article in Rolling Stone that sang Denny's praises as McCartney's music partner, saying he had more ambition than that John Lennon guy, or something to that effect. I suspect Paul was as stoned as Denny in the 70s. I was 12 and got to see WINGS OVER AMERICA in Denver and it was amazing! I am lucky, I had an older sister and brother, and an uncle who advocated for me, as my dad was not going to allow me to go see the show in Denver from Albuquerque with my older siblings. Luckily, I had aunts and uncles in Denver, so my parents gave in and let me attend. BEST concert ever!!

Those songs are tailor-made for Denny. I can't imagine anyone else singing those (even Macca). Time To Hide was one of the highlights in the Rockshow showing at the theater I was at. The new mix (however much we got of it at the theater) really pumped that song up!

I saw it last night in Tulsa with a couple of friends. Great teaser for the concerts in Tulsa this week!

Did the guy have a mustache and a cigarette in his mouth? I had read your comment before I went to the show last night and this guy struck me as being very familiar.

If it wasn't him, it was a doppelganger! But it seems impossible that he could have been there without someone recognizing him.

I can't wait to see this!

I have a promo copy of Rockshow for review. I checked it out tonight. The sound is absolutely wonderful. I cannot have wished for anything better. It's all subjective, but the levels all gel in a way that they didn't quite in the cinema. I don't use rear speakers, but I still opted for the 5.1 setting on my equipment and it was played back through 3.1, but I was knocked out. For me even more satisfying than the cinema experience.

Yeah! Denny did look high as were probably most of them. See how skinny & frail Jimmy looked? His thighs are like tooth picks; too many times w/ his hand in the medicine jar. What a waste of an average guitar player.
-
Jimmy was more than just an "average guitar player" he had performed with many of rock's elite, not just McCartney. He certainly could hold his own with any of Paul's other lead players, with the exception of maybe Robbie McIntosh, who was the most versatile of Paul's guitarists. Though Lawrence Juber also was pretty versatile.

Hardly! Jimmy's music resume wasn't very extensive. He was the least talented of Paul's guitarists. During his time there were many better guitarists that could write, produce & were dynamite guitarists. Take for instance Tommy Bolin which you are thinking "Who's That" Former Deep Purple/James Gang who also recorded two amazing albums before he died around the same age as Jimmy from Heroin as well. Most rock guitarist's in the last 30 years would blow Jimmy out of the water. Sorry but its true. There are probably many Wings fans that would totally disagree but my musically taste is somewhat edgier & heavier than pop & fluff. Rock On!
