Paul's Staying Power: Genuinely Nice or Persona?
-
I believe Paul McCartney is a genuinely nice, loving person who, artistically, is a genius. I believe this YouTube of him and his fans demonstrates this:
Any differing opinions: -
What I've gathered -- and what seems to be shared by many who have spent time with the man -- is that Paul McCartney is the most genuinely unpretentious guy in the music industry.
-
I believe that PAUL is an overall descent guy with flaws . I mean heck we all do right? its human nature for us to exhibit yucky behavior from time to time. Even through some fans or stans won't accept this fact, because they want to see Paul as this perfect guy who can't do any wrong, which I think its unrealistic if you ask me.
-
Audi, I get what you are saying. The times I have been called unpretentious, I took it as a compliment. That is great trait to have. Maclover, I get what you're communicating, too. I'm not that kind of fan. We all have our foibles. That's a given

I agree that he is a nice person but I also think he is a businessman & knows how to butter his bread. Or is the saying which side his bread is buttered on? Meaning...he knows what sells & how to make money.

Agreed! Nice AND smart! Great combo.

I think he loves his fans, maybe sometimes he might feel exhausted with all of this, but deep in his heart he loves that fans are there, and that is the reason he can be deal with all of that. I know he is also a business man, but is not all business I think is love

When you consider people have been fawning over him and p***ing in his pocket since about age 20, he seems to be pretty well "normal." But I'm sure a lot of that "niceness" persona he's got down to a fine art. He's always been the natural PR guy in The Beatles and he's always had charm by the bucketloads. BUT, he ain't perfect...not by a long shot. None of us are.

I don't think anyone said he was perfect, did they? If so, I missed it. Of course he's not perfect. Who the heck is? Even Mary Poppins was only practically perfect.
-
but I have to say that watching that clip having me wishing that I lived in Liverpool. Good for those lucky fans who got a chance to meet Paul.

Indeed!

On this video his seat distance seems too close though, doesnt it? You could tell he prefers sitting in the back seat of his car

Between what you said and what oobu24 said above, you've pretty much nailed it.

Yep...he's been "on" for 50 years.

He has said many times that the only way he survived being in The Beatles was to be as "normal" as possible, so the fame, adoration, groupies and drugs didn't go to his head. It's one of the many things I've always admired about him. Also, that he put his family first after he married Linda. His kids are certainly a reflection of that love.
-
You can tell he enjoys being a big star (probably tires of some aspects of stardom, at times, though), and why shouldn't he? You can also tell that being a musician is of vastly more importance to him than being a "music star."

I think he kinda loves both - cmon, he loves to be adored! On the stage you can feel him feeding on people's energy and love, and giving them the same - it's a mutual affection i think. He's never just playing, he's always in a relationship with his audience.
-
Three's no doubt Paul carefully cultivates his public image -- as most stars do, and need to. But the preponderance of evidence suggests he's basically a nice guy, albeit with the occasional bad moments all human beings have. If someone is a complete d**k, word gets around after 50 years.

i agree i think that's what attracted me to Paul as a fan. him being the model family man who has been devoted to his wife for 30 years. i mean come on how could we not admire a man like that. Linda was one lucky woman in that regard. Just the thought of being married to someone for those many years is astonishing if i do say so myself. people are even lucky if they stay married for 2 years much less 30 years.
