So, did everyone just go home and forget we've been waiting for 3 hours to find out about the show????

Just got back from the show. Not sure what to add, other than it was fantastic as always. I think the only difference from the Fenway Park setlist was Get Back in place of I Saw Her Standing There in the encore. It rained a little bit about an hour before the show, but the weather was just great for the show itself. Not sure if they opened the gates late, but there was a large crush to get in about 8:00. But every seat appeared full by 9. Looked like a complete sellout to me. Yeah, his voice was a little rough in the second half of the show. But at 71, to play that well for 2 hours and 45 minutes a couple of times a week is simply incredible. Hope we get another show in the DC area sometime soon.

I got there just in time for the limo (SUV it turned out) watch! I got literally six feet away from Paul up against the rail...He didn't stop, just stuck his head out and waved...Closest I have ever been to him though!) Also got to hear all of the sound check and saw a tiny bit through the gate! Absolutely amazing time!!!

I thought Paul sounded fantastic! I had to pinch myself that this was a live show and not a recording! I will have my morning coffee in the mug I bought. Thanks Paul for adding Washington to your tour!

Awesome concert! Just got home a bit ago, concert didn't end until after 11:30. Will post more tomorrow when I'm more coherent.

O.K. once again I did not meet Paul (no surprise there). However, I did meet his wife Nancy. Very briefly, she was standing next to our aisle seats on the floor. I welcomed her to D.C. and she said, "thank you" and was on her way. At first I didn't think it was her because she is so young looking and rail thin like her husband. Nobody else around recognized her, but she flashed her VIP pass and made her way past security to the back.

The show was great as usual! the rain let up right away, it wasn't a problem. We were lucky enough to be part of a Meet and greet with Mr. McCartney for LIPA. LIPA's host was Suzahn who was informative and a great person to share a concert with. MJ Kim and Brian Riddle along with other members of the security team added to a great night! Thanks to all of them, especially Mr. McCartney for making the night so special. now looking forward to Indianapolis on Sunday and seeing some friends.

What a great evening. The rain stopped just as we arrived at the stadium, and we only had one short light shower after that while we were eating. We had to wait a bit to get in but we could hear bits and pieces of the soundcheck. It was quite a crush of people outside the gates! But we had plenty of time to eat, buy a Wings T-shirt (yes!), and get to our seats. The show began at 9 pm, an hour late. But it was a Friday night so most people didn't seem all that bothered by the delay and were just happy it'd stopped raining. Great set list. Great performance. Great band. Paul just literally left us stunned. We were seated in an area of enthusiastic fans -- one guy behind us seemed to shout "YEAAHHH!" on every song -- but they nonetheless wanted to stay seated rather than dance. My 15-year-old daughter finally decided to heck with them and got up and danced like a nut. In the finale, I heard her shouting, "I love you Paul!!!" My 18-year-old son, our toughest critic, thought it was a great show. He said: "There were a couple points where his voice showed his age but most of the time he was pretty awesome." And I'd say that's a fair assessment. Overall I thought he was in surprisingly good voice and Abe does a tremendous job of filling in the notes that Paul can no longer reach. All of us were awed by Paul's energy and musicianship. All of the ballads were beautifully done. I think the whole stadium got choked up on Here Today. Palpable sense of sadness. And I know people here are tired of Paul doing his version of Something but it was GLORIOUS. And so was My Valentine. Contrary to the usual snark here about people leaving during that song to take a bathroom break, I didn't see any more movement than was usual for the whole show. He sang it beautfully, too. Loved all the crowd participation during All Together Now, Mrs. Vanderbilt, and Hey Jude. And people really went nuts during Obladi Oblada. Funny how a song that is one of the most disliked Beatles tracks gets such a great reaction done live. Other highlights: The DJ during the preshow was excellent. The guy plays such a great mix -- at one point he was playing Hey Bulldog and then transitioned that into Power to the People. How COOL to hear a John solo song -- especially Power to the People! -- blasting out at a Paul show in a stadium of 40,000 people. And I love that sometimes in stead of playing a Beatles song, the DJ played a cover version. The music that went along with the video scrolling by on the screens was terrific, too. My final bit of criticism: The sound was a bit too loud at times. We all felt like we'd experienced some hearing loss by the end of the night. We were hoarse, tired, and couldn't hear, and thrilled to have spent the evening with Paul.

Paul was doing his bit about reading some of the signs in the crowd out loud. "Paul, please sign my butt." <waving his hand, and shaking his head>"No, no, no." <pause> "Well, show it to us first" wink

Did a bunch of people leave early? I was at Nationals game in May and they put on scoreboard that last Metro train was leaving at 11:20 from that station.

Did a bunch of people leave early?
I noticed a bunch of people leaving during the encores. It was 11:30, so I suppose it's understandable. But these were people around me in row 10 section 3. Not sure I could do that. Did anyone get a photo of the best pose of the night? Paul took the bass, held it up at like a clock hand pointing to 10:00 and then pointed to it with the other hand. All I could do was utter "that's awesome" and watch, without time to get my phone out. I would love to see that again!

Great review Michelly. Glad you & your kids enjoyed themselves.

Nobody around me left in the first encore, and only 2 or 3 left during the second. I did see some people across the stadium leaving early but most people stayed and hollared for more. It took us about 50 minutes to drive home -- not too bad, given the traffic around the stadium but I did feel bad for the CRUSH of people at the metro. I don't know if the trains were running late or not. But there was no announcement during Paul's show about the last train, and the show didn't end until close to midnight. So maybe they had late trains. I hope so, for those people's sake. Two other things I meant to mention in my "review." A good example of why I liked the preshow DJ is that instead of playing the Beatles version of You Can't Do that, he played the Supremes cover of the song. Great song, as becomes obvious when the cover is as good as the original. I'd like Paul to do more early Beatles songs. Also, I LOVED Paul's version of Being for the Benefit of Mr. Kite -- the visuals are terrific, his bass playing as he sings is amazing, and, given that his voice is deeper these days, he sounds really good singing it. It's not a strain for him at all vocally. I'd definitely like to see him doing more "John" songs. Sorry if I'm writing too much, but there was so much to like about this show. OK, one more bit of criticism: Paul still needs a good haircut. And I miss his cute suspenders. I think he does too. He spent a lot of time pulling up his pants. But the long jacket and black jeans ensemble is excellent. One other cute bit: After Yesterday in the second encore, Paul walks over to hand his guitar to John Hamel (sp?) and Hamel hands him the bass. And you can see Paul make this gesture like "Huh? I have to do another song?" And Hamel's sternly pointing and jerking his head toward the stage like "go on, get back out there, you're not done yet." I'm sure he probably does it at every show but they were both laughing so genuinely, it was a funny, touching moment.
