Paul's upcoming album review they say its HOT!

Personally I don't care if they promote the album via Indian smoke signal, morse code or carrier pigeon. All that I want is for Paul to deliver a cracking quality album. Couldn't give a rat's clacker if it's number 1 or number 100 on the charts.
(but there's like a little side of me that would want it to be #1) ... (and then there's one that thinks that Paul just don't belong there... he's simply too good for that... I mean it's not that is he's is #1 he will be beating the creme of the creme in music.... I'm looking at Billboard and the Backstreet Boys are #5, Selena Gomez is #8, Jay-Z is #3 and I don't even know the rest in the top 10. Topping that would not be something memorable...

Paul is certainly still capable of topping the album charts on debut week in the US. However, for him to do that, his label would have to pick just the right week to drop the album. Looking back on his latter day releases, here's what 1st week US sales have been (approx): Flaming Pie 120k Wingspan 221k Run Devil Run 49k Driving Rain 66k Chaos & Creation 92k Memory Almost Full 160k Electric Arguments 17k Kisses 75k If we assume this album is as well-received/promoted as Flaming Pie/Chaos/Memory, it seems Paul could logically hope to sell 130k or so. If you look at the #1 albums this year, that would be enough to top Billboard's charts about 1/3 of the time. He could have EASILY had a #1 album earlier this year if they would've picked a week where he wouldn't have had to compete with a Justin Timberlake or Robin Thicke or whatever. The problem is ... the competition. During Sept/Oct, the "heavy hitters" are releasing albums. Looking ahead thru those two months, almost every week has an act (or several) that will likely outsell that mark. Pearl Jam & Katy Perry are both likely #1s for mid-October releases (one week apart) and Paul won't outsell them. EDIT: the #1 album for the coming week is The Civil Wars, with approx 117k in sales. If Paul's album would've come out on August 6th, I'd bet he'd be enjoying his first US #1 since Tug of War, 31 years ago!

Have some suggestions if interested, here is one thought. No money required just credit for it. "SPM 2.0" TO really get the title nailed would want to listen to all of it but in particular the "main song " I could be helpful with the graphics as well. Send me an email and I would be honored to participate. "Thanks very much I hope I passed the audition " David

Here's an article that teases an upcoming Rolling Stone article about the album: http://www.examiner.com/article/paul-mccartney-on-his-new-album-i-think-you-re-going-to-like-this-one I don't see where the headline comes from, but I'm not surprised he's planning on diversity in the album. Again, this will be in RS's Fall Preview edition. Make of that what you will.

Very curious to hear Hosanna. It's the title that keeps getting mentioned and by that description I'm eager to hear it.

I agree about the description! Here's an exerpt from the article:
The story, part of a Fall Music Preview, mentions one song title, "Hosanna," described as "a ballad using vintage instruments." "He walked in with this incredible song, we threw up a couple of microphones, and within four hours we had this great track," Johns recalled.
I have a love for vintage and antique things and cannot wait to hear how the song turned out!

At least it means we'll have some more solid information fairly soon. And given how this board has been going nuts with speculation and arguments about what sort of promotion Paul should or shouldn't do, it will be nice to hear something solid.

Let's see...Not a rock album, not an acoustic album, lots of diversity, lots of production. Sounds like Paul made Ram II
-
Sounds too good to be true but who knows...
-
Of course, when Paul says it's diverse, that kind of describes most of his albums, really. Which is a big reason we love him, I'd say! Two things I expect to come: 1) a vinyl album, without question 2) some promotion involving new technology that will get lots of headlines but will probably have technical issues when it happens, although that will get cleaned up eventually and put on a Blu-Ray or special CD or something in some form

Gotta' tell ya': This lack of information is -- either inadvertently or deliberately -- proving to be an effective marketing-tactic in itself. There's definitely a buzz growing.

Now that Paul is confirmed for the iHeartRadio gig in Vegas on Sept 21st, I wouldn't be surprised to see him perform his new single live - that's right about the time it was allegedly going to be released. Plus that thing will be broadcast live on ClearChannel stations, so it will be a big opportunity for Paul's new song to get "out there" (pun intended).

Thanks for the info, I didn't know that. But then Paul would be more likely to have a #1 but also more likely to sell a smaller figure.

Yeah, there's a PRESTIGE about having a #1 album, regardless of the # of sales it took to get there. That's why I've been disappointed with either Paul's team or his label in not trying to pick a "smart" week to drop the new album. I'd like to see him have another #1 album in his lifetime. The week before Pearl Jam's album comes out in October, there's a new album coming out by Amos Lee. His last album debuted at #1 on Billboard. With only 40,000 in sales...

For what it's worth: Both Electric Arguments and Kisses On The Bottom were No. 1 albums on their respective, sub-genre Billboard charts.

Cool article, but it doesn't seem to be the one the Examiner mentions, with the Paul quotes in it. That one appears not to be published yet.
