Paul's upcoming album review they say its HOT!

let's hope that there are different two tracks on the Itune album and the physical album. He still has more tracks that haven't been used yet
uh, let's hope not. Is it too much for us "CD" folks to ask that we can own all the officially released songs on a CD? And too often, the unique itunes tracks are "album only" and there's no way I'm buying a $10 to get those two songs, so I go find them somewhere else. It doesn't help anyone, really.

All this deluxe bullshit is really annoying, just release one album with all the songs it's supposed to have, just like back in the "olden" days.

I like My Valentine. It grew on me over time, actually. When he played it in concert in July, I noticed that was the 'bathroom' or 'drink' break, where a lot of people around me left. So, it may not be a hit with a lot of fans, but I don't think Paul will ever take it out. He wrote it for Nancy. I think he will keep it in, he enjoys singing it to her/dedicating it to her at each show. I agree with a previous poster, Paul is big on dedicating songs to people at his concerts, Linda, John, George; those same songs he has done for them for years. IMO, if he wrote/dedicates this song to Nancy, best bet it will stay in his set list.

Not totally true though...he does change "Maybe I'm Amazed" with "My Love" every few years it seems...and there has been tours without "Here Today" and "Something"...he's also played "All Things Must Pass" for George...and seemingly countless John songs! If "New" really is about Nancy (and I think it is) it would be a valid replacement...killing two birds with one stone, if you will

He says it's a simple love song but I am inclined to believe the possibility it is about John. Just for the fact of that line 'searching for a rhyme' which makes me think of the oft told story of them writing I Saw Her Standing There with 'She was just 17, never been a beauty queen' and John just going 'Really?'

I could see that for sure, but the fact that it's just one line makes me think it's just the bias of our overly saturated Beatle minds drawing that connection.

The more I listen to it, the more I think it was about the first meeting with John at Woolton. All my life I never knew what I could be what I could do Then we were new His whole life was ahead of him then. He didn't know what the future would hold. That and the line about "searching for a rhyme," also goes to their songwriting partnership. There's no talk about "this love of mine," or love at all, which I would expect if it were about Nancy.

OR, he's suggesting that his meeting and marriage with Nancy has been the most eye opening experience of all his life, and now they are new and the he feels like the sky is the limit. Again, I feel like we are sort of biased and expect Beatles references, but I really think this guy is writing silly love songs like he always has and always will

My Valentine is a beautiful song, much superior to the so-called classics he covered on Kisses. Only Mama Knows is an inferior Junior's Farm, which sounds as though it was mastered by a small child - there might be a song in there but I can't hear it because of the volume.

All day long... that New song was playing along in my head... and then the chorus... I broke out singing it at work a few times today Sent a few people home to listen to it!!
-
I think the song is meant to be about whatever you apply to it, which is part of its charm. To me, it doesn't feel like it's just about Paul, although it obviously could be!

Once McCartney started playing "Here Today" and "Something" in concert, I don't believe they have ever left the setlist. "All Things Must Pass" was done at the "Concert For George" and I don't think it was ever a regular setlist song on any tour.

I wouldn't go so far as to say that the song is just the product of an old man out of ideas, because I do hear ideas in the music. The problem is it's just to safe, it's not exciting enough to be the first single! McCartney should hit the world with something more energetic, something at a faster tempo, New sounds too comfortable. It's one of the reasons I want him to record with his band, release something more rocking, something that comes blasting out of the speakers! Unleash Rusty and Brian on the guitars, let Abe pound those drums the way we see him do live, and showcase McCartney's bass playing! On this new song I don't even hear McCartney's bass playing? I am looking forward to the rest because Abe did say that there's some very aggressive rock, I just wish McCartney would release something like that!
I think this is a fair assessment. I really like this new Paul tune, but am not sure I can imagine it rocking an arena.
Well, Paul rarely plays that kind of stuff live (Penny Lane, Ob-la-di Ob-la-da, For No One...). And, as is Mozart-divertimento-like, is kind of "chamber music", music meant to be played in a room. But well Yesterday is kind of chamber music too and Paul plays it live.

.. this new song sounds to tame and safe to me. I was hoping for something more exciting and energetic. I hope this is just a preview and not the first single.
Ditto. I find the new single nice and catchy, but lacking the brilliance and musical originality that make Paul's songs so special to me. I don't think this song could answer the high standards and enter Paul's masterpiece albums like "Chaos and Creation". Yet, it's so early to judge.. I recall not finding the first singles of "Chaos" and "MAF" brilliant enough, and really loving the albums that followed. So let's meet here again in a month and a half. All I can wish us is to be united then in the appreciation of the NEW album.

"All Things Must Pass" was actually in the setlist for the '04 Tour.

This NEW song is so much better than anything on CHAOS, that cd did nothing for me. MAF was much better too. For my money, CHAOS and DRIVING RAIN were just McCartney doodles, nothing really defined, except for maybe FINE LINE. I think this NEW cd will surpass CHAOS by miles. NEW is about getting a new start, how being with someone you love can make all things new. John Lennon said it best when he sang But of all these friends and lovers There is no one compares with you And these memories lose their meaning When I think of love as something new

And Paul has only played "Here Today" and "Something" in '02/'03.....'09-present.

That's right, Wix, he didn't include them in the '05 US Tour. However, he did play "Here Today" in the '07 MAF Tour and played "Something" during his brief 2008 dates.

I hope its great & if the new song is anything to go by, it should be good. Paul rarely disappoints except for McCartney II!
