New - Track-by-track thoughts

Hi all, I'm just about to start my second listen of the New CD, and I thought I might post my thoughts on each track as I hear them to start off a track-by-track discussion. Cheers, Andrew.
Andrew, Thanks for an absolute great post. You should be a music critic. You would be a breath of fresh air...someone who actually listens to all the songs and is objective. You have got me really excited about this album. If "Everybody Out There" is one of the weakest tracks, then this is a very good CD. PS. I actually like "Off the Ground". Granted the production could have been better but there are several really good songs in my opinion. To each his own
Having listened to the complete album....not sure how you have a copy of it already, ...I'm curious as to which producer, in your opinion, made the biggest impression. They must have different styles; (Johns more stripped down.) The Epworth songs, based on 'Queenie Eye' in its entirety and the snippets of the other two, give me the impression that he might be the more adventurous. (Road sounds a bit epic!!) Thoughts??? I noticed he co-wrote the three songs he produced on the album, had Paul had him produce the whole album...it no doubt would have been completely different...but then that could be said about the other producers as well. I wonder if each producer viewed the project as some sort of competition...who could be/do the best!!! :

not sure how you have a copy of it already,
It came out in Australia today!

Regarding the Bonus tracks Turned out sounds like a George Harrison song it would have fitted on cloud 9 I think it's the slide guitar and the acoustic rhythm guitars. Get me outta here is an acoustic blues song it grows on you this one nice acoustic guitar solo. Bit of humour in it when he sings I'm a celebrity. (There is a UK reality show I'm a celebrity get me out of here) you can here in his voice that it's a joke line. Scared is a simple piano ballad that Paul seems to write with ease. It's along the lines of I wanna come home. Very sparse arrangement on another album there would have been an orchestra behind the song.

Good thoughts mate! I'm just going through listening properly after listening to the songs that grabbed me first last night. Seems a really good album!

So what's the packaging like for both editions on CD?
-
i'm on my 2nd listen right now, and usually have about 5 or 6 listens before forming deep opinions (i know from the past things ive not liked much on first few listens become faves after a week!).... but on 2 listens my faves are hosanna, save us, appreciate, queenie eye. There's a couple im a bit meh on, but i'm sure that'll change

I got the Deluxe CD. It opens gatefold style with 2 full pages of liner notes by Paul, and it's addressed to YOU! Some black and white pics (you've already seen some on the site) in the middle booklet pages, with very detailed notes re: each track and of course, lyrics as well. It's not a plastic CD case but the thick cardboard stuff. And Paul sounds ENERGISED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Overall, this is certainly one of Paul's stronger albums, but it's too soon for me to say where I think it ranks. I wouldn't say it's as good as "Band On The Run", but there are few other solo albums that are in the same league, so it might even end up being the new Number 2 not to be confused with thenewno2, which I mentioned above! I hope that someone found some of the above interesting!
Since yesterday I've heard the album many times already, and on first listen Road, Scared and Turned Out did nothing for me. NOW they are all favourites. To my ears this album is 90 percent "like on first listen" and the rest "grower", so much so, that I already love EVERY track on the album. Something I cannot say about any other McCartney album. It's my favourite McCartney album post Beatles...by a mile.

The songs all cohese really well and the songs sequence sits well by my ears. I never thought about producers as the album played, and I suppose it's credit to Giles as executive producer for making them sound that way. Yes, Road is epic!

And I also think this album has no fat on it whatsoever. Nothing drags on forever or overstays its welcome. I found myself wishing some songs were a bit longer...but no matter - when it fisnishes, start her up again!!!

I actually really like "On My Way to Work". Sign of a good and interesting album when people's opinions are so varied song to song

.not sure how you have a copy of it already,
The album NEW was offically released for download via iTunes Australia and iTunes New Zealand on Thursday 10th October. Obviously some very happy fans in that region I wonder if the choice has something to do with chart reporting weeks - are they different in that region? In the UK we do Monday - Saturday which is why our release date is Monday 14th. Martin

I heard the album once in a car with people who were talking over it The teaser link is just making me crazy http://www.allmusic.com/album/new-mw0002578565 Especially when people on here, are praising songs that I don't have yet!! This is so GREAT!!! Love that Paul is doing all of these promotions too! YAY
-
Maybe it was released a few days earlier here in Oz as some form of tokenism to compensate for the fact he hasnt played here since '93! Get here Macca!

IMO its way better than Memory almost full, but i like chaos and creation more than New... i Need to listen more often, but i have to admit i expected a bit more; but all in all it`s a fine Paul-Album (as usual )... after listening to the Album twice my favourite tracks are "Appreciate" and "Alligator"... the ones i already knew (Save us and New) are also two of the better tracks IMO.

New is a master work and yes I am an Aussie. I hear the best of Tug of War, McCartney 2 and Flaming Pie on this fresh and interesting sounding album. Do not miss this album!!!!!!
