I'm praying for a Back To The Egg remaster -- along with a restored DVD of the entire '79 shows! I'll buy it in a heartbeat!

I'm sure it'll be out soon. 20 years from now is soon, right? With the remaster schedule as it is, I'd expect that'll be as soon as we can expect it...

Worth the wait, but let's hope not THAT long.

I can verify that it was indeed a fantastic show, since I was there. Had a seat up in the "gods" as Macca calls the balcony but was first row at any rate so got a great view. When the crowd started to chant and clap "Paul McCartney!", the balcony was actually shaking. Am not holding my breath for an official release on this one, tho of course I'd be first in line for it.

Now that WOA remasters have come and gone, I think V&M and Speed of Sound are next? I'm excited for Venus and Mars, but I am really hoping Red Rose Speedway and Back to the Egg get proper treatment, too! I would love for some of that live '72 and '79 material to be released in remastered, soundboard quality - especially that last '79 tour. "Mull of Kintyre" and "Got To Get You Into My Life" are two of my favorite versions, as well as the BOTR encore and live version of "Wonderful Christmastime" and "Goodnight Tonight"...so much goodness! Though I agree, the likelihood of such a live release isn't too...well...likely.

Paul McCartney! ... "Kenny Dalglish!"

A lot of love for this (Last Flight) from fans. A great show indeed! An odd, eclectic setlist (at the time, dare I say, a largely disappointing setlist), a hoarse Paul, an abbreviated show length and a minimal UK tour. But it's all those elements that make it such a rough diamond...
-
Right off the bat, I notice three songs that are not on this video, but are on my last flight bootleg cd - Fool on the Hill, Hot as Sun and Cook of the House...I realize the person who downloaded the video mentioned there were skip/glitches within a number of songs...but he/she didn't mention there were songs skipped outright

There's a video?

I don't think any complete video exist...just some snippets of a few songs (goodnight tonight comes to mind). I was just referring to the YouTube video posted above, which actually doesn't contain any live footage whatsoever)...it's just an audio with a stock photo used as the background

The Kampuchea concerts album that came out around that time, and has very similar performances with the "Last Flight" bootleg

Paul McCartney! ... "Kenny Dalglish!"
Exactly! (one for the footie fans!)

It was 34 years ago today... To celebrate, have a listen to the YouTube link posted upthread (even if it's not the whole gig). Or listen to a song from the opening act - yes, there actually was one! Chap named Earl Okin:
and PM.com says this photo is from the 16th Dec gig but it'll do (for this show I was on the main floor so I'm in this photo somewherein the stalls ) -

Here it is, for those who haven't heard it
No doubt about availability of high quality footage from this show either: -

Yep, great stuff! It was also fun to hear at the shows because it was brand new! I was also at the Kampuchea concert, and am glad we have some video record of this show, at least, even if it's not the entire concert (tho of course it was all filmed). Thanks for the HD links posted above!

I believe Wingspan had some really brief clips from some shows during that tour...and they were definitely at least fair, if not outright good quality (I'll have to rewatch to see exactly what was shown...but no, it wasn't Kampuchia clips)
