Paul and Ringo at the Grammy's

Sorry, but if Ringo gets on the drums to commemorate 50 years since appearing on Ed Sullivan, there should not be another drummer up there. He can quite handle it himself.
Ringo even has another drummer with him in his own All Star shows! But seriously...they can take turns. Abe knows when to step back. AND... BTW...Paul is nominated along with Dave Grohl so there is yet another drummer!
And Paul McCartney has another bass player with him at his shows! These guys can play their instruments. I agree, how about members of both bands get up there? Todd Rundgren and Joe Walsh are pretty good!

No Paul does not have a second bass player playing at the same time. Ringo has another drummer playing all the time. Just the facts. And of course they can all play their various instruments. But what did the all stars have to do with the Beatles? They are not even Ringo's band...they do swap out at times. See...I wish they wouldn't perform at all. These can really get out of hand.

They've only just announced Paul and Ringo appearing together, but I'm sure this has been in the planning for some time. I'm quite sure they're not gonna do something crappy on the Grammy's!

I'm excited! But trying not to get too excited just yet...so I don't set myself up for disappointment incase it's not as big of a production as it should be.
I'm more nervous than excited...these live things don't always come off too well for Paul, at least.
Actually McCartney has sounded excellent in Grammy performances IMO and has done killer versions of "Helter Skelter".

Sorry you feel Ringo can't hold his own with McCartney. I beg to differ. I saw Ringo twice in concert, he had Sheila E. with him, she was great. But Ringo has the beat, the sound, and doesn't really have anything to prove to anybody. He was the drummer in the Beatles. Not Abe. Not Sheila E. Not Neal Peart. And what do Abe, Wix, Rusty, or Brian have to do with the Beatles? They shouldn't play either then. What is wrong with them getting on stage and doing I SAW HER STANDING THERE? With a slew of other musicians? Hell, they wouldn't even have to practice! Well, we will just have to see what they do, won't we? Honestly, maybe they should just sit in the audience and enjoy the tribute, maybe say a few words. I mean, does this new song Paul is up for even measure to up to a good Wings rocker? No. It sounds like a bunch of musicians jamming.
-
BTW, Ringo has another drummer in his All Starr band because he is the front man of the group, not the primary drummer. When he does drum, you know it.

Enjoy the tribute? You are confusing the Grammys with the Grammy Beatles special/tribute which will be on TV Feb. 9th.

Many of the TV performances have been questionable for one reason or another. Be it his voice on one note or the studio having sound problems. Remember the feedback at the Apollo?
His performance on I Heart Radio was great. And for the most part he sounded great during his NEW promo run (Kimmel, Times Square, etc). But, I assume a Grammy performance would be without his band. Who would fill in? A mix of his band and the All Star Band? Paul and Ringo can't do it alone.
The Grammy Awards has a band. But they may put something surprising together.
Oh that's right. If they do use the grammy band I just hope it doesn't sound like terrible over-orchestrated compositions. I am just imagining the sing and dance numbers on the Oscars.
His band (Brian, Rusty,, et al) were with him on the Grammys in 2012.
That was a Paul McCartney performance so that makes total sense. If there is any attempt to make this a Beatles-ish performance then I was wondering who would join them on stage. I honestly can't imagine those two on stage trying to perform at the Grammys AS the remaining Beatles, so maybe they will perform with their own bands, but I can't even guess how it will work out. I really hope whatever they do is well done and enjoyable for them and the fans. I am trying to quiet the pessimist in me about this one.

No just speculating and having some fun about what might happen. I suspect it will be cool regardless. I would rather see Paul and Ringo together for such an event, playing music or just saying a few words. Not that interested in hearing modern singers play their songs. BTW, since it is a 50th anniversary, I hope they stick with songs from 1964, maybe even from what The Beatles played on the Ed Sullivan show those two weeks.

Yikes calm down! I never said Ringo can't hold his own. But it is a fact that he has Greg Bissonette on drums all the time. Greg plays even when Ringo plays. Nothing wrong with that...just stating a fact.

Abe and Rusty double Paul's vocals on a lot of parts to strengthen it live. Nothing wrong with that either... just stating a fact.

Yes, it's true. But Ringo is 73 years old and had shoulder surgery a while back, so he has Greg there to do the "heavy lifting." But if you watch him closely during his concerts, he is definitely drumming on his own and very nicely, too. Just saw him in November and he's looking good.

I was not saying anything against Ringo...at any age. But he also had a side drummer in the first All Star Band in 1989. Levon Helm.

You missed the great one liner for that statement. You should have added "La De Da". (Ringo's song) I'll be watching too!

Just read in the Examiner that there is currently no confirmation to Paul being there when they receive their lifetime achievement award. *Gets out her Official Paul McCartney Voodoo Doll....You are going to be with the others to receive this award....you are going to be with the others to receive this award (don't ask what I'm doing to this doll now)

I know he will be making a huge mistake if he doesn't show up. But I also read that they will be announcing this award on the show Jan. 26th (even though it is being presented on the 25th) so Paul will be there then at least. He needs to be there on the 25th though!!!
