. But it is a fact that he has Greg Bissonette on drums all the time. Greg plays even when Ringo plays. Nothing wrong with that...just stating a fact.
Yes, it's true. But Ringo is 73 years old and had shoulder surgery a while back, so he has Greg there to do the "heavy lifting." But if you watch him closely during his concerts, he is definitely drumming on his own and very nicely, too. Just saw him in November and he's looking good.
I was not saying anything against Ringo...at any age. But he also had a side drummer in the first All Star Band in 1989. Levon Helm.
I know you weren't. Just pointing out to people that Greg *is doing a bit more of the work than the side drummers of previous tours, but Ringo is still working, too. I've seen every Ringo tour going back to 1989, and yes, he's had a side drummer for all of them: Zak was one--it was fun to watch the two of them drumming together! also has had Sheila E and Simon Kirke for a couple of tours each.

Yes...it was great when Zak was in the band! Nice to see father & son.

Just a hunch, but I'm thinking that Paul might do one of his new Songs (NEW OR QUEENIE EYE) with his band, introduce Ringo and collectively sing "WITH A LITTLE HELP FROM OUR FRIENDS" with Ringo singing lead. Personally, I think this would be a great Beatles song for them to do at the Grammys commemorating their 50th Anniversary because: *it's a great sing-a-long song that everybody knows *it came out (Seargent Pepper) at the peak of their career *it was a group effort song with Ringo singing lead *it's a relatively easy Beatles' song to do considering that Paul and Ringo have rarely played live over the last 20 years *considering the sacredness of the Beatles' recordings, it wouldn't cause any embarrassment trying something too complicated for a live performance (considering their ages) and John and George are gone *while I'm a huge Macca fan, it would be nice to give Ringo a key part in the celebration since Macca gets far more acclaim these days

...and even going back to 1971 (Bangla Desh shows) where Ringo shared drumming with Jim Keltner.

I wish I could talk Paul and Ringo into singing "Sgt.Pepper" straight into "With A Little Help" for the first time ever.
-
Assuming Paul is there with his regular touring band when Ringo steps out, that would mean Ringo has 'access' to Wix and the synthetic string machine...and you know what that means - GOODNIGHT!!!
-
Maybe both Paul & Ringo might come up with a new rockin' song

That's exactly how all fiction is written (both the great & not so).

Telling a mate the other day, they should walk out to a grand piano... "Evening Paul!" "Good Evening Rich!" And hammer away at that boogie duet from the Let It Be film! Image the collective WTF's all around the Staples Center?

Actually that would be more 'Beatle-like' than if they were to simply sing a 'normal' Beatles song together

It looks like the Grammy special in honor of The Beatles, and not the Grammys telecast itself, is where the "reunion" (note the quotation marks!) will take place: http://www.accesshollywood.com/ringo-starr-confirms-special-performance-with-paul-mccartney-will-take-place-at-beatles-tribute-concert-not-grammys_article_89160?__source=rss%7Crss2clean%7Clatest-originals&utm_source=rss&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=latest

Well, that kind of makes sense: Ringo and Paul performing as a tribute to the Beatles, not AS the Beatles. The article seems unclear as to whether one or both of them will still be on the Grammy Awards show itself, just not together??? The official Grammy site does list each of them separately as performing on the awards show, but somehow that seems weird that they would give Ringo time to perform solo; maybe he'll be in a group of other performers, stepping up for part of one of his songs?
-
Several sites have stories indicating they'll both be on the Grammy show, but no indication they'll be together except for the Beatles tribute the next day. I sure hope Paul does something from "New" on the Grammys. If he nails it (and all his live performances of songs from the album have been pretty sharp), it might give him a boost in sales.

I'm hoping they play RAIN so they can both play their amazing parts off each other and they have Eric Clapton and Tom Petty filling in for John and George. That would be so cool if they were rocking that really hard god I love that song.
-
I hope to hear "I wanna hold your hand"!! The Beatles comes to America because of this song!

No one could fill in for John & George. And Rain has nothing to do with the 50th anniversary. Rain was released in 66.

I've been hoping for that for years but don't expect it.

Actually, they were already booked and coming anyway. It was just a happy coincidence that the song made #1 before they came.
