50 Years Ago This Sunday

At one point it almost looked like Yoko had tears in her eyes. And I thought her dancing was genuine and fun. Great night all around. Some so-so performances but overall a great night. Best for me, outside of Paul and Ringo obviously, was John Legend and Alicia Keys whaling on Let It Be. Dave Groel was great as always and I liked that he opted not to play a "hit." And I don't care how talented you are - performing these songs with Paul in the front row has to be nerve -racking as hell

Paul and Ringo rehearsing. Very short and very sweet:
-
They will rerun it on Wednesday.

i would have liked to have seen this but no tv here plus i had to work so. oh well ill eventually find somewhere out there ; )

I was leaving NYC yesterday and looky-loo what I saw as I stopped at a traffic light?

Agreed Sur Steven! I could have lived without several of the performers' performances (would keep Keith Urban and the other dude with him--who knew he could play like that!). I was watching to see Paul and Ringo. Not happy that their performance got cut so much. It was clearly cut and they were still playing when it ended. Very disappointed in the producers' cut. Does anyone know if a DVD will be sold? Even so, I wonder if Paul and Ringo's performance will even be on it in its entirely
"The other dude" was John Mayer. I hope they issue this in a DVD too!

Beatles4Ever&Ever:
Aside from Paul and Ringo...who finally got the show really energized, I really liked Joe Walsh, Jeff Lynn and Dhani perform "Something". Gorgeous. And I liked the young British singer who did "In My Life". Dave Growl is always great on anything he does ("Hey Bulldog".) It was neat to see his young daughter and how she reacted to the songs...she loved The Beatles! The Ed Sullivan stage-crew commentary could have been a show all by itself. Great insight and told us things we didn't know about that big event 50 years ago.
Dave "Growl" (it's Grohl and the way you spelled it made it funny 'cause he did kind of "growl" Hey Bulldog!) Love that song and Dave & Jeff Lynne's version. Trivia question (this was asked at our Beatles celebration in Cancun) who besides that CBS TV guy stood in for George? Answer: Neil Aspinall (I knew it & gave the answer to a friend so she could win a Beatles CD. I wasn't allowed to guess on my own because I had already won the entire U.S. Capitol set minus The Beatles Story in a raffle!) P.S. I already have TBS in vinyl.

The Letterman interview snippets seemed a bit stilted and awkward.
That's because Letterman is stilted and awkward! (can't stand him!)

Did you take that through the window with your cellphone? If so, great catch!

I sort of knew it was wrong when I was writing/spelling his name that way, but couldn't pull in the correct spelling. After pondering it a bit, I just left it. I noticed someone else spelled it "Groel". Seems to be one of those names. Now, maybe someone will spell it "Gruel". Yummy porridge!!!
