Time Machine to see The Beatles
-
I was a Beatles fan for about 5 weeks, and then when they appeared on Ed Sullivan, I became a Paul fan too!

I think another great moment would have been that first press conference after they arrived in America. To see these skeptical, or even hostile, reporters fall under their spell would have been priceless!
I caught that interview on television when it first happened as well. Their quick witted humor was unstoppable! "No,we need money first." ~ John "I had one yesterday." ~ George (In response to getting a haircut)

Well...considering that this is a Macca board, I joined because of Paul.
I joined because of Paul too, but I was a Beatles fan way before I was a Paul fan.
This was taken out of context. Of course I was a Beatles fan 1st but I came to this board because of Paul.

Oh Kittay, Maybe Nancy can give us another opinion from a woman's point of view, but I would not be so quick to feel sorry for some of those that crossed Paul's threshold--many like Ms. Schwart smack of opportunism and seeking out a famous rock star, not for who Paul was as a person, but for what he did for a living--beacuse he was a "Beatle." The Eagle's song "Life In The Fast Lane" comes to mind. Even poor Maggie's story is rife with contradictions: she's this wild free spirit living this hedonistic lifestyle--a great looking model who seemingly can have any man and doesn't care what other women are in Paul's life when she can have him, but once the doors are closed she is supposedly devastated and is kicking herself (even to this day) for her answer to his question on that beach. I do understand where you are coming from Kittay and in general I tend to agree with you, but when it involves someone who is so famous and so rich then you find a lot of people with a lot of hidden agendas--many of them quite impure.

^^ I see your point of view. But I am sure some of the women/girls really loved him. There are many, we don't even know their names and never will. I feel sorry for the ones who really loved him. I hope they are okay. That is all I meant. I think I need to stay out of this thread... in other news: I would love to hear Carnival Of Light before I die.

Actually I'm glad you are participating in the thread (and welcome back)...I think it's good to have various points of view on the forum (otherwise it would not be a very interesting forum--would it?) and I'm sure from reading your posts that your motives are good ones.

Meant to ask earlier...whatever scenario you choose to go back and spend an hour with the Fab Four...wouldn't you first thing give a hug to John and George? They've been gone so darn long. Just a rhetorical question really. No need to share hugging fantasies here.
-
^^ Of course I'd hug John and George. I miss them terribly. Erik: I apologize for what I said about roller balding. (that I edited.) Really, I am not the moral compass around here for sure! Sorry for jumping around defending people I don't know. If you ever visit the Gulf Coast I know how to roller blade. I mean really, I actually roller blade but have no one who shares my interest in it.
-
Kittay, No problem--I thought what you wrote about "roller balding" was funny -- definitely no need to apologize ... I always loved playing hockey when I was growing up so when roller blading took off I bought a nice pair and loved it!! Haven't done it in a while but I did just buy a nice pair of Graf hockey skates. Closest I've ever been to the Gulf coast so far has been the Yucatan peninsula in Mexico--a beautiful place! How's the Chinese food on the Gulf Coast? Love the cuisine down there!!

You know, I'm beginning to think it's a miracle there aren't hundreds of mini-Pauls running around. Now I can understand why there weren't any Beatles songs called "Restraint", "Chastity" or "Abstinence".
There are. Australia has heaps of them, I'm sure...and mini John's, George's and Ringo's... The Australian tour of 1964...pre pill...
Birth control pills were first used in the U.S. in 1960. So maybe less mini-Beatles here. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Birth_control_pill
