Yeah, the stories are the same, but when you're actually *out there* listening to them in person, it's fine - the way he tells a story is so very charming, isn't it? Something that only the locals will appreciate, but I must mention: Paul's sprinkling of terms from the local vernacular were too funny. To hear an Englishman greet his audience with, "How's your Mama and "dem?" - the crowd loved it He also managed to work in "lagniappe", "where y'at, dahlin'?", Mardi Gras, and, at the very end, a cheerily-received "Who Dat!". It was just so amusing to hear these expressions coming from a Brit

Excellent review! One of the best I've read. Thanks for posting.
Very nice review but got to admit I cringe every time I read about McCartney telling the same old stories (Hendrix - Sgt. Pepper).

That sounds really cute & funny. Can't wait to hear clips of that.

"Yeah, the stories are the same, but when you're actually *out there* listening to them in person, it's fine - the way he tells a story is so very charming, isn't it" Yes, he is very good at telling a story and is charming. It would be nice to hear some of that same charm with new material - lol.

His stories are history. What do want him to do, have a different life He mixes it up when he can. In the past week I saw him bust out Shakespeare in San Antonio and his Buddy Holly memories in Lubbock. And last nite was adorable, I think he was surprised the way the crowed who datted him back

I was there last night, and the show was fantastic. He was in great form, and it was really cool being with my sister who had never seen a show. She doesn't know his stories, so it was neat to see her reactions to them, and they hit spot on with people who have no clue. I was honestly disappointed in the crowd, though. The people around me sat for the entire concert, only standing for the beginning, the end, and the John and George tributes. They didn't even dance to 1985. How do you sit for that song? The crowd was deafening at the encores, though. One woman said, "He never comes back out twice!" Ha! So clearly, people don't get tired of the same old stories/setlist because most people have never heard them before or don't remember them. I was disappointed that people took their beer breaks for the new songs like My Valentine and Everybody Out There. It must be discouraging to see the crowd disperse when breaking out the new stuff. My sister loves My Valentine and was very glad he sang it and very surprised when people didn't seem to respond to it. He sang it very well. Maybe I'm Amazed was great, too. I always get kinda nervous when he breaks out the the high songs, but he did excellent. Here Today was also better than the last time I heard it. His voice was clear, no breaks. It hit the spot. Fave songs of the evening: Let Me Roll It (always my fave), Live and Let Die, All Together Now, Helter Skelter, and the Medley. They're always so much fun! I love singing along to All Together Now!

I was there last night, my sixth since 2002 and I thought he sounded great! I had a great time.....but, the best for me were the New songs. I think I was the only one in my section who new them. I wish he'd do more unconventional stuff, but that ain't going to happen.

Here are my photos from the show.... https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.10203902591438142&type=1&l=ef2e051cd6 "Birthday" was a nice surprise, as was the NOLA specific song intros.

I loved hearing live the songs from Paul's NEW album. It was two days before my husband's birthday so "Birthday" was special. Paul mentioned New Orleans many times and the different ways people pronounce it. Loved the Who Dat reference. He told the story of going to Mardi Gras and he and Linda dressing up and saying "throw me something". They thought because they were in costume they wouldn't be recognized but they were. Paul had fond memories of recording in New Orleans. A 14 year old girl got called up on stage. I met her before soundcheck (I didn't go) and her sign said something like "I'm 14 and my dad says I'm too young for a tattoo but can I get a hug?" I teased her I'd give her a hug but I didn't think that was what she was interested in. I saw her again right before the concert and teased her and here dad again. So happy for her that she got a hug and her album signed. I was just one person away from getting a hug from Paul. LOL. (7 degrees of separation from Kevin Bacon). Said "Hi" to a guy who had a sign with a picture he made that was on Paul's Meat Free Monday video. At every concert I go to I ask the people if they are on the Message Board. Almost always they say "no". Paul looked and sounded good. Our seats were on the floor way in the back. At least I got to get the full effect of the background images. I know the rising stage is not popular but I'm short so when he was up there I could see him so much more clearly. Paul said Nancy was in the audience but I didn't see her. He made the heart sign to her. Even in the back people stood most of the concert. People's interaction during "Out There" was not as loud as I thought it would be but still fun. I love reading every tiny detail about concerts so I hope people enjoy my long post. So very happy we were able to attend this concert.

PS Saw a street car go by and thought of Paul riding one last time he was in New Orleans. Didn't stay around for the limo watch because it poured rain but we did hear it go by from our hotel room. Ran to the balcony and saw the last of the police cars turn the corner. Almost ..... LOL

Apparently there was some confusion -- the fans were all on the driver's side, so when Paul rolled down his window, he was waving to an empty space
