I like the platform, and think it's a neat effect..... but NOT at the expense of creating an unnecessary larger than usual gap between the main stage, and the front audience. It's a shame that it wasn't designed so that the platform was built INTO the main stage.... rather than being a separate thing sticking out in front. The way it is now: The way I think it SHOULD be: They would just use the top surface of the platform - in the lowered position - as PART of the main stage, and Paul would stand on it, in his usual centered spot, for most of the show.... and then go.... up, for the two songs. Really, whoever designed the current version, did a lousy job, imho.... It's a very awkward design, with far too much distance between performer and audience. Though, at least it's better than THIS:
haha I love your post pics & all

I kind of liked the mini stage last year. It's even closer than he's been to the audience

Your 2nd sentence makes no sense whatsoever! Did you read rlj1010's post above?

I never understood why The Beatles played that far back at Shea...Anyone know why they didn't have seats on the field?

I'm not sure, but it may have been a crowd control nightmare. Remember, in the mid-60s, no one had ever toured to that magnitude before. The Beatles were navigating unchartered territory. In a sense, they invented the modern rock band tour. While it is normal now to maximize capacity and viewing, it was probably considered a bad idea, if it was considered at all. They had a crowd of 55,000 which was huge for the time. It's huge today!

They didn't know how to cover the grass with an entire floor built just for the occasion. Probably too expensive for back then.

So what's the deal with that mini-stage? Am I right? Seriously though, I paid big money for my 3rd row seat. If it turns out to be the view of an 8th row seat i'm going honestly gonna be disappointed .

Yes, but I have never read anywhere that they even considered putting seats on the field. Maybe they did. The Beatles played a LOT of baseball stadiums, Shea is the most famous for being the first and biggest crowd. Not once did they put seats on the field. I don't think it was ever part of the plan back then.

Not to mention that they needed to minimize any damage as an active baseball season was going on and the field was grass.

If he keeps the mini stage that is exactly the view you will be having.

I agree with rlj1010, the small rising stage should have been incorporated into the regular stage, then used on one or two songs. Instead, it pushes the front row back about five rows for the WHOLE SHOW. How anyone can say, "That's ok, it's Paul. At least you get to see him" is beyond me. Does it matter if you are sitting in the rest of the arena? No. But to say it is no big deal if you bought seats in the first five rows thinking you would be close to the stage then aren't, is not cool. And, at those prices. IF they said, "The first five rows are pushed back due to a staging effect, therefore the price is going DOWN for those tickets" then fine. Instead, they went up.

A friend of mine in the early '80's said she saw The Beatles in FL and she had field seats. Does anyone know if this could be true?

We won't know for sure until the first South American show. I pray he got rid of it!

They played Jacksonville in 1964 and there were probably field seats. But they played the Gator Bowl, a football stadium, which is configured very differently than a baseball stadium.

I don't think he got rid of it Mary McCartney posted a pic of the rehearsals a few days ago on her Instagram and it looks like the mini stage is there....

I gotta say.. As cool as the stage does look when elevated, I do wish it was just an elevated platform on the regular-sized stage...No extension in front of the stage. I'll be within the first 10 rows for the first time this tour (9th row), and losing a few feet after dishing out so much money is a bit of a bummer!
