US OUT THERE TOUR JUNE DATES RESCHEDULED: OCTOBER

Hopefully they worked in the break month of September so that Paul will have some rest time before finishing out the U.S. leg in October.
They appear to have worked in the McCartney family vacation time. You have concerts ending in mid-August and then not starting up again until October. Tha is a typical McCartney pattern. RamblinRed

I was getting ready to book my flight to Fargo (tickets won't sell). I'm a bit apprehensive to do it. I called the travel insurance customer service. According to them, if Paul cancels, that does NOT qualify for a refund. My choices are: 1. Buy now for about $500 and hope he doesn't cancel 2. Play the waiting game and watch the price of airfare rise. Good times!

Certain airlines let you change the dates of travel without penalty; certain airlines give credits to use at a later date instead. You have to do careful research to know which ones they are. There are other travel insurance policies with companies that will cover cancellation of event, but as I say, you have to do very careful research and ask a lot of questions of many different companies. Perhaps a consultation with a travel agent instead of looking on your own would be in order.

All this kinda sounds too worrying for just a virus... I really really hope he's ok... concerts could wait, i'm sure people would understand.

I'm sure he's feeling fine now.. But at his age and the grueling summer tour schedule, pushing back the June dates was a precautionary move..purely speculation on my part, but my gut instinct.. Feeling confident he'll pick up the tour in July feeling refreshed and rehearsed with the band, given adequate time, as opposed to rushing back for the Texas gigs..

From what I have read, he is resting and is feeling great. He is just following doctor's orders, which is the right thing to do. He will be fine by the July dates, IMO.

I think some are beginning to get worried again. It's getting close to the dates for the 1st gigs...hopefully he is just fine.

Who can blame them? I think if it was a bad virus, he should be ok by then. If not, then he may take a break from travelling.

Agreed. I think the doctors were giving precautionary orders.. Don't want to rush him back and put his health back at risk. I know we're quickly approaching the upcoming July dates, and he's coming to my hometown of Pittsburgh as the second show.. so of course, I personally have a bit at stake, and I'm hoping he's fine and good as new by then! But I'm also not too concerned over the matter! Feeling optimistic!

Are you at AAA member? They sell travel insurance, usually through the Allianz Insurance Group and the policies we have bought from them in the past cover just about everything you can imagine. They picked up the tab on an extra night at a hotel room a few years back when a flight cancellation left us high and dry in Washington, D.C. for an extra night coming back from vacation. Might be able to contact Allianz directly if you don't belong to AAA.

I bought insurance back in April when I got the Atlanta ticket. Fortunately I can go in Oct. so no problem there. I always buy flight insurance too.

Does buying travel insurance mean that you do not have to pay the airline's change fee? I thought there was no way to get around paying that when you have to make changes to a non-refundable airfare (on those airlines that use it).

Not usually, but sometimes you can get them to waive it depending on the circumstances. I had to change a flight when my dad broke his hip and I called Delta and they waived the penalty (but did charge me what the rate was that day for the flight which was more) Travel insurance usually covers if you are ill, hospitalized, lost luggage, things like that. Anybody here know more about it? I've (thankfully) never had to actually use any travel insurance I've bought.

Those reasons make sense. However, I wonder if having to cancel a flight because Paul McCartney changed his concert date would be a good-enough reason for the fee to be waived and covered by insurance.

I doubt it!
