Do we have any clue as to where HE will be arriving? Candlestick is huge, and they might bring him in around back.
I'm not sure, I was just going to walk around until I found the waiting crowd, if there is one when I get there.

Updated public transportation info with timetable and routes: http://www.sfmta.com/calendar/alerts/paul-mccartney-concert-candlestick-muni-service "Muni will provide special service for the Paul McCartney Concert at Candlestick. Service runs from 4:30 pm until after the end of the concert. Doors open at Candlestick at 5:00 pm. The concert will start at approximately 8:00 pm and will be over by 11:30 pm."

if this were a normal venue, he would be arriving with police escort around 6:12PM but likely you should subtract time from that as the Mayor will insist on a meet and greet and a lot of billionaires as well

Does anyone know what the closest hotel to Candlestick Park might be? Thank You.
Lodging arrangements should have been made in advance, but you can try any of the hotels around the airport and take a taxi. There are a couple of motels on Geneva Ave., a few miles from Candlestick, you can do a google search like this: [fficial&client=firefox-a&channel=sb" >https://www.google.com/search?q=hotels+near+Candlestick+Park&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8&aq=t&rls=org.mozilla:en-USfficial&client=firefox-a&channel=sb](https://www.google.com/search?q=hotels+near+Candlestick+Park&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8&aq=t&rls=org.mozilla:en-US<img src=)

I'm doubting the doors open time they list. Soundcheck will most likely still be going on at 5 pm.

Take it from a native: Do NOT expect to be able to drive from Union Square to Candlestick in 23 minutes at that hour and in the likely traffic. I'd allow at least an hour, maybe more.

Anyone know what kind of food they have available at Candlestick? Any yummy/unique foods you would recommend?

I would suggest eating before arrival or bring your own munchies. The few times I have been to Candlestick, I was not impressed with the food. Since there have not been any sports games held there in quite a while, I have no idea what type of food concessions they will have. Personally, I plan to bring my own and eat in in the parking lot before entering the stadium.

MORE info: Candlestick Park General Information Items prohibited at Candlestick Park include large bags, backpacks, coolers, outside food and beverages, cans, and bottles. This landmark concert is scheduled to take place rain or shine. Umbrellas will be prohibited if they block the views of other guests, but Paul McCartney fans can bring ponchos to the concert in case of rain. Candlestick Park Parking Information The stadium's designated parking lots are expected to be open for this Thursday night show. Spaces will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis, and fees will be collected on site. During the Paul McCartney Candlestick Park concert, San Francisco's public transportation services (like the Muni T-Third light rail line and the #29 bus) will likely have extended service on Aug. 14. There are also a number of designated bike routes that run near the stadium. Candlestick Park Gate Times The gates to Candlestick Park are scheduled to open at 6 p.m. PST (or two hours before the event is expected to begin). Note that these times are not exact and are subject to change on Aug. 14.

Thanks for all the info ~lady*madonna~! I won't get there early enough to comfortably eat in the parking lot so I'll have to try my luck with the stadium food. I figured it probably wouldn't be that great, but was hoping there might be interesting choices. Will probably have to settle for a hot dog!

There's a new restaurant walking distance from Candlestick called Mangiare that I've been to a couple of times, solid food and nice folks working there. I'll be stopping in for a bite and a couple beers before the show http://www.yelp.com/biz/mangiare-san-francisco

Thanks for the recommendation! They've got quite an eclectic menu.

How exciting it must be to those who will be at such a unique show tomorrow! I watched a baseball game at Candlestick Park in 1998 and saw Shea Stadium (from the outside) too. Great memories.
-
On our way to San Francisco!! I was just wondering what the size of the crowd is expected to be?

Have a great time everyone!!!
