San Diego, CA, Petco Park, September 28, 2014 - ARCHIVE

Hi 'Out There' peeps. Does anybody know which would be better seating at Petco Park, San Diego.... Section A2 - Row 3 or- Section A5 - Row 25. Having a bit of a dilemma. A friend has a set of tickets for both and not sure which one to go for! Thanks if anyone can let me know from their personal experience it would be great. Cheers!

There are a limited number of presale tickets thru CrowdSurge right now. The link is on Facebook.

dennisdster: AX is apparently just charging higher fees than crowdsource; they also give you far less time to complete your sale! Penny Lane 13: The ticketmaster chart (which is certainly blurry!) indicates that the numbering starts on the right in A2 and on the left in A5. So, considering the distance to the center of the stage (where he usually stays) it looks like a draw if you're in the middle of the row, but A-2 looks best if you get closer to seat 1.
-
Hi Kathy, Oh well that's good then! If the seats in A2 start from the right (meaning on the right when you are FACING the stage??) then those seats are better I think, they are seats 3 and 4 so then it's closer to centre. I hope that the seat chart is correct. Thanks for the info!

: Oh, the mystery of buying tickets Monday I was thrilled that my husband & I were able to buy enough tickets during the fan club pre-sale to take 6 of our grandkids to see Paul. However, since the two groups of seats were very far apart (A5 & 120), I decided to later try the AX pre-sale, too. Throughout the week it said that either no tickets were available or some that were much worse than I already had were available; I stopped looking. Then, this afternoon, over 3 hours into the public sale, I decided to try again, and eventually snagged 2 extra seats directly in front of my A5 seats! Now I can invite their parents, too (guess which tickets they get? ). Anyway, the moral of this story is: If you haven't gotten your tickets yet, don't give up!

Glad that worked out for you...Went through the same thing in 2009 when Paul played The Joint at Hard Rock Hotel in Las Vegas. When tickets went on sale they sold out immediately. There was nothing available at all. Was online here and we were all bemoaning the fact and the way things are. Almost an hour later somebody said they scored a ticket. I tried again and suddenly I was able to get one too! I would not have tried again if I had not been on this forum that day. So yes...moral is don't give up!

With the new release dates for Venus and Mars and Speed of Sound Archives the same week, maybe he'll surprise San Diego and open with Venus and Mars/Rockshow!

Hello to all! I was finally granted a day off of work (Monday, September 29), so I will make the 3 hour trek down to San Diego for my second-ever McCartney show (Dodger Stadium was my first). I am interested in a single (or pair) ticket for the show, preferably in a field level section (the first sections from the field/floor). If not, a floor seat will be appreciated. Please PM me. MANY thanks!
-
Me, too. I am looking for a pair or single for this show. Please PM me if you want to sell. Thanks a bunch!

As one of the many San Francisco fans that spent the whole show stuck in traffic 1 mile away from Candlestick stadium, I'm still in a state of disbelief and grief that we didn't get to see any of this amazing concert. I'm working to get a refund for the $1,000 I spend on the unused tickets but now I'm also considering flying down to San Diego to see Paul's show cuz the hole in our hearts won't be filled with the refund. My concern is that the San Diego show will be as poorly managed? Has anyone ever been to Petco Park? I found a hotel .2 miles away... is it a safe bet that we'd actually be able to see the show this time?? Please share experiences, guidance on getting inside the venue, etc...thanks all!! -Mette

Hi there, So sorry to hear that you missed the Candlestick show. What a nightmare! I'm from SD, but moved away 14 years ago. I have never been to Petco, but the stadium is in downtown. I'm guessing it's pretty easy to get to if you're staying in downtown or take the trolley in. Given what you've experienced, I'm going to make sure my family and I give ourselves plenty of time to get to the show. It's also on Sunday so there won't be the normal rush hour traffic that you were stuck in as well. I hope this helps!

They did not have the Candlestick problems at Dodger Stadium, but it was on Sunday also. I'm sure if it was on a weekday it would have been much longer getting in. Getting out took a while but getting in was smooth. I've been to Petco and it sounds like you're staying the night and walking so you should have no problem. But if you are driving give yourself plenty of time. Even on a Sunday parking in Downtown San Diego can be a problem, as it is a heavy tourist destination. There are several lots and garages around the stadium for parking though. Good luck and see you there!

Wondering if anyone knows where the limo entrance to Petco might be? Thanks!

HI, I've been to many events at Petco as I live in Southern California. Unlike Candlestick (I went to that concert too, I know what a disaster it was for some) Petco is a beautiful park, ideally located right in the edge of what is known as the Gaslamp district of San Diego with many hotels and restaurants as it's also near the convention center. You didn't mention which hotel you were in, but if you're anywhere in the south gaslamp district (towards the convention center) you're probably within easy, safe, and well-lit walking distance. (again, unlike Candlestick park!) While Petco has lots of parking, unless you have a mobility problem, there is NO good reason to drive from your hotel. None. Just walk. While there are ways to drive that are sort of "back doors" my best advice is just don't. My friend and I staying at the hyatt manchester which is .7 miles walk straight down Harbor Drive to Petco. I've done this walk dozens of time in Comic Con crowds and it takes about 20 minutes. We have dinner reservations at a restaurant on K street (1/2 block from the stadium) around 5 so we can be head over to the park at 6:30ish. I'd rather be early in my seat than standing outside in the crowd. Also, since this is being held at a ballpark that is NOT shutting down, there should be enough staff on to make sure all gates flow as they should. Also, this is being put on by Paul's usual promoter, AEG Live, as opposed to the one-off Candlestick promoter, APE. (But then again, a well-trained poodle could have done a better job than APE) I hope you can get your money back and see him at Petco.

This is from the petco park site: Drop Off and Pick Up Drop-off and pick-up zones for guests are located on both the west and east sides of Petco Park. On the west side of the ballpark, guests may utilize 6th Avenue and K Street. On the east side of the ballpark, guests may utilize 10th Avenue and Park Boulevard. The drop-off for private charter buses is located on the west side of 14th Street between K St. and Imperial Avenue (enter on K St. side).

Does anyone know where Paul might be entering Petco Park? I have only gone to concerts in Ohio and really enjoy not only greeting him as he arrives to the venue, but meeting other fans as well. I am not familiar with Petco so I am hoping that a Padres/Macca Fan might have any ideas. Thank you in advance! Also thank you to ktfaye for responding! D
