You are the man, Carlos! See you in Brasilia!

"Abe talks about places around the world, South America in particular, where "Beatlemania is still going strong" and the fans are so excited because Paul is "the guy" who can bring the Beatles to life. " Fine but would their world come to end (lol) if he did 22 Beatle songs instead of 27.
Everyone loves coming to SA except security. They have to work twice as hard since everybody is so crazy here. Especially 5th Beatle Carlos

If that's the kind of change you're looking for, then I guess we're all okay. But I thought lots of people here were hoping for more obscure solo material, not just swapping Beatles songs for other Beatles songs. (Mind you, that's fine with me.)
Well, I was just putting out the 2010 example of how he's capable of changing things up. Of course, I'd like him to delve more deeply into his solo catalogue...
I don't want deep cuts or obscure singles...I don't think many of us actually want that. Just more ...or some...songs from the last 30 years!
I agree. I don't think My Brave Face, Hope Of Deliverance, Flaming Pie, Fine Line, or Only Mama Knows are deep cuts, they were very high profile McCartney tunes. They should be in his set list regularly.
Sorry, guess I misspoke there. What you're saying is what I really meant. Still, if his goal is to get lots of young people to come and enjoy the show, most of them wouldn't know these songs, so that would kind of make them obscure. Imagine this conversation between an older fan and a younger person: "Hey, did you hear, Paul McCartney's coming to town! You know, the guy who did "No More Lonely Nights" and "With A Little Luck" and "My Brave Face"!" "Ummm...?" "And he was in the Beatles." "Cool! Let's go!" Maybe younger fans would enjoy those songs, but they wouldn't scream with joy at the opening chords. I know, I know, Paul shouldn't care, but I think he does, that's all.

"Take It Away" was a top 20 single from album "Tug Of War" that was #1 and the song never saw the concert stage - lol

agreed. And if Paul had been playing some of his solo songs for the last 30 years...people would know them by know!

We at least there are a few later generation fans who enjoy these songs! I'm from a latter generation and the only songs I get into are the solo songs and this is not only with Paul I do the same things with tribute bands. But it's a simple fact: the huge success of The Beatles. As George once said you write one good song and you'll be singing it for your whole life. Except Paul had an abundant amount of good and known Beatles songs which will forever overshadow anything he'll ever do. I hope that more fans from my generation as well as the ones blow mine and above mine wise up and start appreciating the solo stuff because in all honesty Paul's solo career can outweigh The Beatles at times. It sucks it hasn't been more successful and it's even more of a pity that it's been so heavily ridiculed. His solo career has to be one of the most underrated carreer of really any artist. You know a funny thing is I've never once thought that I was seeing a Beatles when I've seen Paul. Too bad the whole world still sees him as a Beatle and nothing else.

Interesting take: http://www.usnews.com/news/special-reports/articles/2014/01/24/was-paul-mccartney-bigger-than-the-beatles What if Paul toured as Paul McCartney, the solo artist? Would it be a complete failure? Is he nothing without his Beatles legacy? Here is what a 39 song Paul McCartney set list might look like to me: Maybe I'm Amazed Junk Too Many People Back Seat Of My Car Uncle Albert/Admiral Halsey Dear Boy Tomorrow The Mess Big Barn Bed My Love Only One More Kiss Junior's Farm Band On The Run Jet Let Me Roll It Live and Let Die Venus and Mars/Rock Show Listen To What The Man Said Call Me Back Again Letting Go Silly Love Songs Let 'Em In Beware My Love Mull Of Kintyre With A Little Luck Goodnight Tonight Coming Up On The Way Wanderlust Tug Of War Take It Away No More Lonely Nights My Brave Face This One Hope Of Deliverance Flaming Pie Fine Line Only Mama Knows New Is this the song list of a failed artist who can't put on a concert of his own material? I know, he would have to play smaller venues for less money. So what? Eric Clapton doesn't just play Cream songs. Robert Plant doesn't just do Led Zep tunes. Yes, they acknowledge their past, but they are firmly in the present as well.

I would be first in line for that. Or first with my finger on the "order" button, that is! Fascinating idea, and it's probably the only way we'd hear most of these songs. In his regular shows, he's ignored them for so long that audiences just don't know them, but your idea would give fair warning. I like it!

But the "pace" of his show is so great, Javi. Why tamper with it?

"Band On The Run" is the most recent song that has never (as far as I can tell) left his set. As a single, it was a hit in 1974, forty years ago now. Kind of amazing to think about! Just watched his Something New special again tonight, and when he and the band talk about playing live, it's very clear that the Beatles are THE focus of the show, and that's not likely to change. Abe talks about places around the world, South America in particular, where "Beatlemania is still going strong" and the fans are so excited because Paul is "the guy" who can bring the Beatles to life. Just to be clear, even though I may roll my eyes a few times during his shows at the predictable songs that we've heard ad infinitum, I still enjoy it immensely, partially because he is "the guy" that planted all those memories in my head. Years from now, we'll have nothing but tribute bands to carry it on, so I'm pretty happy I've had the chance to experience the real thing. Of course, I do hope for something totally unexpected in 2015. "Hope for the future!"
"Just watched his Something New special again tonight, and when he and the band talk about playing live, it's very clear that the Beatles are THE focus of the show, and that's not likely to change. " Does it really matter what the band thinks, Mr. McCartney is the boss and they are the hired help. Maybe the band might get him to do one particular song but any meaningful change is up to Mr. McCartney. I like Abe a lot, but -- on the real -- he comes off like like the perennial ass-kisser in the band. He sounds damn near sycophantic at times.

He kisses butt probably because the money is pretty good and it is easy work by now. Like I said previously, they can do 3/4 of the show in their sleep. IMO - it is sad that these guys really don't encourage Mr. McCartney to do some different solo songs and tell him they are bored. I guess that honesty might get them fired - lol.

If you ever see Clapton and Plant's setlist, they barely touch their past with Cream and Zepplin. I believe Plant has said that he will not do "Stairway To Heaven". Mr. McCartney is an amazing musician, singer and song writer and it really says something to me if people can't not appreciate his excellence in concert unless it is a Beatle song. There is not one classic rock icon that no longer is with their original group that has a setlist so lopsided with songs from the past group as Mr. McCartney. Honestly, does anybody believe that if Mr. Lennon had lived longer that his set list would be mostly Beatle songs !!
