If Jackson was alive, he'd Next to owning Northern Songs, Jackson co-own Motown's Jobete Music now own by EMI through Sony/his ATV. If sold, good bye Motown...again.

WOW! This is a real mess! I know that Jackson was slowly selling Northern Songs in pieces, I just don't know if he sold all of Northern Songs or not. I do know that Jackson was in heavy debt prior to his death in June 2009. I really wish that Jackson would have stayed out of THE BEATLES business affairs and let Paul and Yoko purchase Northern Songs when the time arose.

His estate still owns it through Sony/ATV as of today. But come 2018, the songs start moving into their new homes at MPL and Lenono.

Greetings jimmix! Happy Xmas to you and your family! That is great news to hear, its about time!

Its interesting to think that you don't own the rights to your own work. But I guess that is intellectual property rights for you. My work is technically owned by my university.

I recall hearing Paul in an interview during the past few years describing how obtaining these rights were once more important to him, but now (for the reasons you just outlined), he's fine sitting and waiting for his babies to come home (paraphrasing here:-))

Well, Lord Lew Grade who lost ATV to Robert Holmes 'a Court who sold it to Jackson, at first was selling it to Paul McCartney for $40 million. McCartney wanted Northern Songs, only, the Beatles' music publishing, but then Paul said no. Why buy back your songs from a company you co-created for free and had nothing to do with the sell off. And Dhanni Harrison will get back his father early songs ("Taxman", "I Want To Tell You" for example)

Exactly. Why would McCartney pay now when in 3 years the rights go back to him & John? Also, what would the selling price be now...Sony's asking price has to be dropping by the day. It would be interesting to know what Jackson's return from his investment is...I know he let a lot of brands use Beatles songs in their commercials back in the late 80s. Plus, movies. I would love to know the economics here!! It would make for a fascinating book.

That would be the second book. The first book was already written on Northern Songs Ltd. By the way, did you or anyone knew that Paul and Michael Jackson were going to record an album?
