So Noel would say no to McCartney? Or did he mean something else?
My take on it was he would say no to Kanye.
my take on it too.
Yeah, Noel would say no, but he acknowledges that Paul is more open to this kind of thing. That's how I read it.
Yes, obviously!

Noel Gallager would say no to Kanye West? Is Kanye knocking on his door?

No, I don't think he's at the door. Noel is just saying that he wouldn't bother answering it.

Noel Gallagher has literally fought his own brother on stage. Why would Kanye West want THAT kind of thuggish drama?

Nick Jonas just did his own version of "Only One": http://eonli.ne/1Gpaj4u

Just wait for the West-McCartney CD!!

Actually I don't think it's clear WHAT Noel is saying about whether he would or wouldn't work with Kanye. In fact, I think Noel is saying he would say "yes" to Kanye, too. Just look at the comment that proceeds Noel saying "I would." Noel says, "What are you gonna do? Say no?," he's saying that Kanye is an important enough figure that if he approaches you to collaborate, you say yes and that he would, too.

If we are reading the English correctly, he is saying he would turn Kanye down. But some musicians do speak in a confusing way so who knows? If he did, it would be another duet I wouldn't buy.

That's the way I read it: "What are you gonna do? Say no? I would (say no)". If he wanted to say yes he'd say "Say no? I wouldn't (say no)". My regard for Noel Gallagher just went up a couple of notches.

I think Noel is clearly defending Paul collaborating with Kanye in the entire quote. Noel says Paul is just a guy who likes to do things and experiment, that he's inquisitive and, in Noel's work, "brave." I really can't tell from the context whether Noel would or wouldn't work with Kanye. The "What are you gonna do" part confuses Noel's meaning.

Exactly. That's the way I would say it too. "What are you gonna do? Say no? I would (say no)"

Another theory that's popped into my mind. We've all seen the video-footage of Paul McCartney having a good time at last year's Grammys when Daft Punk and Pharrell performed "Get Lucky." Stevie Wonder was on that stage, too -- and I think he played on the record, too. I wonder if Paul got the idea to collaborate with young artists from seeing that.
-
Tony Bennett did a whole album with Lady Gaga last year. Something I've thought about. But serioulsy, I've been waiting for a hip hop collaboration since the 90s. McCartney is one of those 'been there, done that' kind of artists. He did a duet with Lulu in 2001, with samples from "Let'Em In" featuring a rapper, but I think for him to callaborate with someone like Kanye West is a challenge not yet heard in his disocgraphy, and I guess it worked, they made two hits.

True.

"Only One" drops from #45 to #74 this week. I think it's pretty much done after this.

He is defending Paul. He is also saying he would not make the same decision Paul did. That is clear.

Yep. I think Noel nailed it.

As in Noel would say No.

For an artist, it is opportunities to reach a new audience by collaborating. It is perhaps worse for the fans, if your favorite artist is engaged with music or artists you don't like :
