Songs that were sound checked but not performed live...
-
Songs I've heard in soundcheck, that I don't think have been done in a regular concert. Great Day Blue Suede Shoes Leaning On a Lamppost That Would Be Something I'm In Love Again Fool (drink to a fool, a crazy fool...) Mary's Song - The Wind is Blowing Loose Jack (seemed to be a spontaneous song, first soundcheck at Fenway Park. He had trouble with a guitar, turned out to be a Loose Jack. The song was a pirate sea-chanty about someone named Loose Jack. I wish he would release this, it was excellent!!!) Someday, It's Gonna Be That Way (I am guessing at the name, seemed to be a work in progress, at Royal Albert Hall soundcheck on piano) Already been mentioned: Whole Lotta Shakin' Going On Suicide Sun Is Shining Also heard: Mother Natures Son (with present band, was in concert with previous band "Earth Day") Petrushka (not sure if it may have been done in concert, but I don't think it was) Midnight Special (also think it may have been done in concert) Hot Az Sun (Gijion soundcheck 2004) Podgie (things I remember) Monkey
-
I don't think "Celebration" has been done in concert! That's a good one! Podgie (i've heard that one many times) Monkey

If the band knows the songs, why not play them in concert?
Because it would upset the first timers who expect a Beatle show - lol.
Amen yankeefan. Amen.

Does "Celebration" count?
Absolutely, yes.

Mother Nature's Son was done in 2002. Midnight Special has been played live, for example, last year at Bonnaroo:

I heard that the band did "Some Other Guy" in soundcheck or rehearsal years ago. Also, there is a poor recording (from outside) of the band doing "Falling In Love Again" when they were in Mexico years ago. Podgie (a few more I know of) Monkey

Oh yeah, there were quite a few jams at soundcheck, where Paul would throw in vocal lines. Hollywood Bowl Jam, Fenway Park Jam, and a jam at the Hammersmith Apollo (where Paul sang about it snowing out), where a few I remember best. On some tours he use to jam at just about every soundcheck. Podgie (jammin') Monkey

I should mention that the last tours, they tend not to jam. The few that they have done were usually a lead up to "Blue Suede Shoes". I think it probably has to do with VIP soundcheck packages becoming more popular (larger groups attending) I suspect he is treating soundchecks more as a show. I know most of us would rather see more spontaneity though. Podgie (i love hearing stuff I never heard done live at soundchecks) Monkey

Hot As Sun was performed live during the 1979 Wings UK tour.

I bet if he went to some places he hasn't already played a million times, the audience would be happy with whatever he played.

He did a really long instrumental jam (first) in Atlanta (Oct. 15, 2014) that I'd never heard before.

Good point and I agree.

"Petrushka" has been done before in concert, two or three times, I think.

Correct. Certainly at the 100 Club gig.

It would count for me - although I know there's almost no chance of it happening, I'd love to hear that song live...except I'd prefer that he'd leave out the one vocal verse that he's added to it in later years...Its the one full instrumental I'd want to hear.

actually the lyrics are part of the original piece as it was performed...it is the very end of Standing Stone. I like hearing him sing it in soundcheck.
