"On My Way to Work" Faster Tempo
-
I criticized this song "On My Way to Work" from "New" in another post for sounding (to me) too slow and plodding, then thought Oh No hope Paul doesn't hate that critique should he read that...remember Tony Bramwell's claim Paul didn't speak to him again for eleven years just for saying "Café on the Left Bank" needed more work--but darn the luck I still consider "On My Way to Work" would sound better if somewhat faster and a bit more jaunty and perky and lively--and wonder if anyone agrees. It would appeal to me right much more. Would like to sing it myself in a faster tempo, have done so and enjoyed it, but left out the part about the naked chick stripping for me (LOL). For obvious reasons. Like many females, I prefer to look at fashion mags with the girls dressed in different outfits, while most blokes would rather see them nude in girlie mags, one assumes. I do like how Liverpudlian with heavy Liddypool accent Paul sings this with. He sounds so Liddypudlian

good song. I think you're right.

Paul has mentioned that his demo for "Riding To Vanity Fair" was much faster than the album version. I'd love to hear that!

Nah. I think the slow, contemplative tone fits the mood of the song perfectly. This ain't "O Bla Di O Bla Da."

Agree totally. I love the song as it is.

Very good observation. It sure has a Ray Davies aura about it.
