EconoLodge? Why not. Sounds good to me.
I stayed there 2 nights in 2011 and one night in 2014. It's actually very nice and also has free breakfast.

I'm getting really excited about this year's lineup. http://www.arotr.com/site/?page_id=5498 Sat. at 3 pm is The Cryers with Steve Holley and Laurence Juber. Would only be better if Denny Laine was there too! http://www.arotr.com/site/?page_id=5930

You've met all of the main stars, right? Looks like a good lineup.
-
Interesting that Jake Clemons (nephew of the late Clarence Clemons) is going to be there.

I've never met Mark Lindsay, nor have I seen him in concert. Have only seen Peter Asher and Peter Noone in concert. I have met Steve Holley and Laurence Juber many times. Have also met Tony Bramwell several times, as well as Bruce Spizer and Joe Johnson. Joe was the host of all the Beatles cruises I went on and the Hard Rock Riviera Maya trip (where the guests were Denny Seiwell, LJ, Pete Best, etc.) Also know Christopher (Paul) in BritBeat and Gavin Pring, who is doing solo George, but is in The Fab Four. (They will be on the Flower Power cruise hosted by Joe J next February along with Mark Lindsay, Mickey Dolenz, Peter Noone, The Guess Who, The Grass Roots, The Rascals, The Association, The Cowsills, etc!) That will be a blast!

Thinking I should take one of those cruises. Can you recommend one for me. Was checking one out the other day, and it's all sold out. How quickly do you have to book those in advance. Do you actually meet the bands on the cruises? Do they play more than once? Do you enjoy them?

I'm sure you will have a wonderful time if you go. I saw Paul Revere and the Raiders in concert a very long time ago, but cannot remember where the venue was.

I have 5 friends who have been on the Flower Power Cruise and also the Rock and Romance ('70s music) Cruise! This year, 3 of them went on BOTH cruises which were scheduled a couple days apart! They all said they had a great time. The first 2 years the cruises were only 5 nights, but now for 2018 it is 7 nights. So, more time to see all the bands you want to. Before, there was just too much packed into too little time. That was one of my friend's only complaints. Another friend of mine is deciding if she can go. Money being the only question. I will save a lot having a roommate! My total cost (including insurance, taxes, gratuities, port taxes) right now is $3346 and that is with a $150 discount they gave me for booking before the general public! (This is for an inside stateroom) If I have a roommate, we would each pay $2319 for inside stateroom, but on deck 7, 8, or 9. (Mine is on deck 2) The insurance is based on how much you personally pay, so my insurance would go down from $172 to $145.

Sorry! AROTR! I can't wait!!

Free admission Thursday. Bruce Springsteen fans ... what a deal!

OMG, I thought I would die yesterday! Drove from Atlanta to Jeffersonville, IN. No problem getting out of Atlanta, traffic not too bad, then the rain started in N. GA and only let up briefly. The entire rest of the way was a torrential downpour! Normally it would take 6 1/2 hours, but took 7 3/4 hours. I was exhausted! It is still raining this morning/afternoon and instead of starting at 2 pm, they will start at 5 pm. Usually it is hot and sunny here this time of year. Tomorrow weather will be mostly sunny, but some thunderstorms are expected on Sat. and Sun.
-
Hope the weather improves a bit for you! That is exhausting to drive through such a terrible rainstorm.
-
Ditto what oobu said, Nancy. What a beatch, indeed! I hope you have fun, otherwise.

Tonight (Thursday) the weather was great by late afternoon. Got checked in at 4:30 and Hal Bruce kicked it off. Two surprises were that Denny Laine is here "filling in" for a guitarist in The Cryers whose wife was having a baby that day! Steve Holley plays drums for them. After their set got to talk with them both and got photos with them. Had met them both last August in Duluth, GA (different venue from where Paul is playing - much smaller! Steve told me they'd be back there again this year!) Then during The Starclubbers set, Gavin Pring (George from The Fab Four) gets up and does Think For Yourself and another song. Also got to talk to him (have met him before at 2 Fab Four meet-and-greets) and he remembered me. Of course got a pic with him too. He will be twice doing George solo sets. He'll do George Beatles songs too. Tomorrow the weather is supposed to be good, but there are thunderstorms forecast for Sat. and Sun. Monday supposed to be sunny.

I'm down here for the AROTR Beatles/British festival outside of Louisville KY. This is my first one and after the first day, I have to say that I will probably go to next year's festival. It is always around the Memorial Day Holiday. Louisville has it for the next 3 years. I found out about this festival from Nancy R who is a veteran of these festival. And I'm meeting all kinds of Beatle fans here which is part of the fun. I will get back to you guys later for various reporting of the bands/shows etc. At this point my experience is only from the first day/night. The shows kicked off last night at 5:00pm. Let me just cover one big surprise from last night. A band called the Cryers (Steve Holly, the original Wings' drummer in the Back to the Egg era) is in the Cryers and they came on stage around 7:30pm. They are staying at the same hotel where I'm staying and I talked to their founder Joe and Steve yesterday afternoon. They informed me of a big surprise before last night's event. One of the Cryers' guitarists could not make this Festival because his wife was due to have a baby any day now. Because of the situation, the Cryers got DENNY LAINE to "fill in". Denny plays with the Cryers quite a bit so what good fortune for the attendees. There was no mention of Denny in any of the pre-Festival publicity. Sure enough when they hit the stage Denny was there. That was a big thrill for me since I never saw the 1976 Wings over America shows. Since Denny was their lead singer for the entire set, they played a heavy dosage of Wings' material. Besides Band on the Run and Live & Let Die, it was great to hear songs like No Words, Again Again & Again, Deliver Your Children, and one of my all time Denny's favorites Time to Hide. Good surprises are always great to get so what an auspicious first night. Laurence Juber is also performing here so it will be interesting if Laurence joins Denny and Steve for a set over the next few days. Would love to hear more Back to the Egg stuff. Now that would be something. Any way I will give additional reports as the days progress. PS Nancy R got pictures with Denny Laine and Steve Holly. I'm sure she will be sending them.
