Mark Knopfler and Dire Straits
-
Going to see Mark Knopfler when he brings his tour to L.A. in Sept. Been dusting off those old Dire Straits C.D.'s...and it reminds me how great they were. Love Over Gold, Brothers In Arms. Anyone like Mark or Dire Straits?

Money for Nothing
with Phil Collins, Sting & Eric Clapton -
Yeah been a big Dire Straits fan for quite a while, was lucky enough to see Mark Knopfler live in the UK in 2005, it was the shangri-la tour but he played all the big DS songs like Money for Nothing, Romeo and Juliet, Brothers in Arms, So far away. I believe he's actually touring the UK at this moment.

Oddly enough i went to see him at the manchester arena on saturday night he has a young lass with called Ruth Moody she can sing for sure and on the couple of songs shes with certainly adds to the songs, sax player Nigel Hitchcock on sax as well so theres a lot going on on stage. The players are superb simple as that Marks voice is at times a bit ruff truth be told but i would also add wasnt it always so maybe im being harsh to him,the standard of his playing was pretty much spot on,Alan my husband who's present this was said after the 15 or so mins of Telegraph road "that was worth the ticket price on its own" and he has a point, not a fan of epic songs but that was brilliant. Now to the downside of the night, the horrendus echo coming from the drums time and again after you'd heard the "drum" you'd get a thwack following almost imedietly it was bloody annoying to say the least and at times it was close to ruining the evening (that came later with the bloody awful train service form manchester) but grumbles aside go and see him almost 2 and a half hours of excellent musicianship you wont regret it.

He did it when we saw him last in Liverpool, one of those songs that slipped through my radar whne it was out on vinyl all those years ago as you say an epic song.

Think I put on "Making Movies" most often if I reach for Dire Straits in my record collection. I saw them live on "Brothers in Arms" tour and that was a great concert.

I watched Mark and Sting on MTV the very first time that "Money For Nothin'" was aired. It was also our introduction to CGI, as I remember. " Dat Ain't Woikin' "

I saw them on the Brothers in Arms tour, and they were fantastic. I love the distinctive sound of his guitar and voice.
