Last call for anyone interested in attending the PETA Gala, September 30th in Los Angeles which is sold out! Paul McCartney will be performing and in the audience. There will be a star-studded audience in attendance. 3,800 people venue! I have one ticket left! I have a table close to the stage. The cost is $2,500 (face value charity ticket) per person and is tax deductible. After your tax deduction (PETA says it should be around $2,325.00) that makes the ticket cost $175.00. The ticket includes vegan dinner and a Paul McCartney concert. You can't even buy a Macca ticket for $175.00 that includes all of that and it's a small venue. Plus he will be there all night! And this is the charity that gives out an Award every year in dedication of LINDA! Only one spot left! You would pay PETA directly with a credit card. Deadline has been extended to 10AM ET on Friday SEPT 11. Only serious inquiries. jorieg1@aol.com
Almost haf me Jorie! I hsd the card at the ready. The vegan dinner put me off.

I don't doubt it Kathryn! I tried Paul's catering at soundchecks, and they were pretty bleak affairs.

Some of the dinners at soundchecks are bad others are good. I guess it depends on the menu...and who's cooking it!

Not in Memphis in 2013! I'm no vegan, but it was fantastic! Tons of food & many pasta dishes. They even had a "make your own sundae" bar. I admit Atlanta 2014 was very bleak! I was ashamed for my city!

Still ticked about the tax racket and it is a racket . Americans, this is why we can't have nice things

Why are so many people worked up about this? Everyone is OK paying ridiculous prices for a concert ticket. But all of a sudden you are mad about this???? It's THE SAME THING!!
-
Mmmm...not quite.
-
Where is this to happen in LA? What is the venue???

Epic false-equivalence.

I find myself agreeing with you a lot these days, Audi. Who'd have thunk that 2 years ago?

That has not gone unnoticed by me, as well.

Whatever. I won't pay those prices to see Paul at PETA. And I won't pay those prices to see Paul in Detroit. I really don't care where the money goes or how it is divided up. Or how it is taxed.

No it's not. What I'm mad about is the fact that out of the $1200, most of it is given back to the patron from taxes so they end up paying only $125. It's that scam the 1% does to the rest of us to not pay for the country they live in even part of the time and dump the burden on the rest of us. Getting something back for a charity donation? Maybe. Getting 85% of it back? No way. In fact, when the class warfare started in this country recently, and the rich were criticized for not paying taxes, they replied that they donate more to charities that do good. Now I see they really don't. I'm technically the one making the donation. Excuse me, I got to go to work now to pay for this
-
I wonder: will it be the Out There setlist or something different? We'll find out soon.
-
Wow, this is a heavy thread.... but something doesn't seem right when Blonde Janice from Friends is asking so much money... doesn't seem right... wow, that is some kind of a tax deduction.... for those that can afford to pay it to begin with!.... I also am not totally opposed to r*apists, murderers and peds being put into some kind of cubicle and being cut up for the betterment of our children and their children.... but, maybe I need to give that a bit more thought.... heavy thread, indeed....

How cool would it be if he finally did "Wild Life" live again at this concert?

Ok. Fair enough! I can see why that would anger some folks.

This is how a charity tax deduction works. You pay the full amount of the ticket price. Then it is up to the IRS how much of that is tax deductible. You may get the entire amount allowable and deducted from your income tax for that year, thus reducing your taxes. All registered charities give tax deductions when you donate. So that is incentive to donate. Otherwise you will wind up paying taxes on money earned if you have a gain in your income. So why not give that money to charity and get a tax deduction so you don't wind up paying it to the IRS? The ticket is sold BTW... cost after income taxes are deducted $175...

Forgot to say I bought your book of Paul's 1972-1999 concerts when it was originally published (15 years ago) and still enjoy it a lot. Any plans for a sequel? There must be plenty of material to work from, as he's been performing live almost non-stop since 2001.
