Bittersweet. I recall listening to BBC at the time. The interview was LONG, entertaining, and candid. Peebles was right. John was in great form that December 6, and for a lifelong Lennon fan listening to John and Yoko recount their music and relationship in a chronological order really was bliss, bearing in mind nobody had heard his voice for 5 years, really. Of course it aired after the event. A Christmas greeting trailer aired prior to the event, I think. He was erudite, funny and enthusiastic and clearly happy. Whenever I see these Hit Factory photos it takes me back to hearing this interview for the first time. 2 days after this interview an ashen faced Andy Peebles, on television back in England, asked for his reaction to the awful news, replied: - "The realisation that John Lennon, who I"d interviewed in New York 48 hours ago, had died while I was crossing the Atlantic, was a shattering experience."

I bought that interview book second hand, must be 30-25 years ago.. not sure how long ago, really... just stumbled upon it... a full transcript.... can't even remember how or where I got it. Too sad to ponder any further.
