Set List critique

nobodytoldme:
From Uncut Magazine, October 2015: "[McCartney] talks enthusiastically about his desire to perform a show where he is unshackled from playing "Hey Jude" and the big hits, and can instead focus on the lesser-known tracks from his catalogue."
I'm sooooo glad that I'm not standing right now....

The set list will be the same. It is still the OUT THERE tour.

Right, but there have been some variations here and there on the setlist over the last couple of years, though.

Yeah, Another Girl is a good example. But Take It Away?? I'd be shocked.

I wouldn't expect many changes till at the very least...next year.

Look at the "changes" we picked up for this most recent addition to the Out There tour. Temporary Secretary Can't Buy Me Love One After 909 Got To Get You Into My Life ...am I missing any? I wouldn't expect any more changes than we just saw. Maybe 2-3 song changes and I will be in complete shock if he plays anything from Tug of War or Pipes of Peace (other than Here Today). With the exception of the Band on The Run Reissue he has literally made NO mention of ANY of the archive releases on stage.

You're probably right. I'd LOVE to see Wanderlust or Ballroom Dancing, but it ain't gonna happen, I fear.

Edit to my original post: Forgot "Another Girl" ! I think "Ballroom Dancing" would be a very odd choice for an arena concert. I don't really see the crowds getting into it. "Wanderlust" on the otherhand, would probably get a better response than say "My Valentine" has been though.

He also played Good Day Sunshine at the Norway/Sweden gigs in July, and Birthday has been added in on a few occasions. I agree its a perfect opportunity to do a song from the reissues, if Paul can learn and perform Temporary Secretary, then anything is possible!.

Would kill to hear 'The Pound is Sinking' in concert once TOW reissue comes out. It would go over well I would think, with all the tempo changes
-
He's running out of Beatles songs to add to his setlist, so hopefully more solo songs will be done live.
-
I do appreciate the evolution of the set list since he came back touring this century. The set lists in 2002, 2005, and 2011, and 2015 are significantly different. I can understand people seeing him multiple times on multiple legs of the same tour being sort of burnt out.

I never understood why he did not ever do "Take It Away", upbeat song and top 20 single. I could see "Wanderlust" before "Ballroom Dancing" being done but don't see it happening.

Exactly and so many he could choose from IMO !!

"No More Lonely Nights' would go over very well, I think

'Hope For The Future' as well. And the sequencing got an upgrade too, the first encore is now the mindblowing 'Another Girl', 'Birthday' or 'Hi, Hi, Hi' and 'Can't Buy Me Love' instead of the overly stale 'Day Tripper'/'Get Back'-combo last time in the US. So I would be surprised if he even adds one single song, seeing as this is yet again the same tour.

If he's smart (and he is) he will keep new songs for the next tour.
-
If he was smart, he'd have included at least 2 songs from every re-issue album thus far to coincide with his concerts. That's not only smart, but screamingly bleedin' obvious I'd have thought.

Related to that, is there a reason why he doesn't sell any of his albums at his shows? Rusty and Brian's CDs sometimes get sold at Paul shows, why not Paul's?

Yes, I've always wondered about that too. Even Ringo flogs his "art" at his gigs. I suppose Paul is too rich to bother.
