Finally the end of the Out There tour?

I personally would like to see him take some time off the road and work on a new CD/album. While NEW was a good album I don't believe it in his top 6 or 7. I think if he took a little more time this time, he could deliver another great, classic album. Another possible benefit from staying off the road for 1-2 years is to rest his voice.
I reckon from here on in it's touring. Tours tours tours. I honestly don't think he has another great album in him and anyway the voice is too fragile at this stage. On the other hand he could deliver another great Fireman type album. A more casual free format that might not highlight his faltering studio vocals so much. My Valentine (I love it), Hope For The Future, I Want To Come Home, there's a sameness to most of his stuff now...nice, but not great.
Moptops, You may be right about the constant touring. I'm not sure Paul doesn't have another great album in him. That is why I think he needs to take time off from touring. I think he needs some solace and vacation time etc. it might give him more of a source for writing creativity. Once he would get 10 or so substantive songs together, he could get in the studio with Giles Martin as his overall producer. He could also invite certain musical artists as guests (ones he really gets along with) and maybe a producer or two as special guests for certain songs. A similar approach that he took with Tug of War back in 1982 and also with New (with multiple producers). By taking time off, he might actually help his voice once he is in the studio. I could be wrong but this is certainly my hope. I love Paul but for him to continue to go around the world singing Hey Jude, Let It Be, Blackbird etc for the 1000th time doesn't excite his real fans.

BJ, his constant touring excites me. I'm lapping it up while he's still here. Soon he won't be and we will all be talking about him in the past tense. Look at hardcore Elvis fans...or Hendrix fans, or (vomit) Wacko fans. ."If only I got the chance to see him..." We do! I understand where you're coming from re: resting the voice but truth is it's gone. The 80's and 90's voice is gone forever. I'm thinking too that his ability to write really good songs is slowly ebbing away too. The dude is pushing towards 80...80 years old.

And yet Sammy Hagar and Daryl Hall (both around 70) sound as great as they ever did.

And Elton, Billy and Rod's voices are shot. Who can explain?

Billy Joel is debatable.

Saw him first time here back in 77. Been rubbish since.
-
I think he hit his vocal peak in the '90s.

I was joking buddy...I did see him in 77 though first time.
-
The downside to seeing Billy Joel in concert these days is that more than half of the songs are in lower keys, but it's keeping the guy able to sing reasonably well.

I saw him at the Hollywood Bowl last year, and it didn't bother me at all that he sang it a lower key. Still had a lot of fun regardless!

It doesn't matter what name he calls his tour (Good Evening, Up and Coming, On The Run, Out There, Out House....). They're all the same thing, an expensive Beatles karaoke night. The only difference in the tours is the singer gets progressively huskier! By the time his 2018 Out of Ideas tour rolls around to the same old places he'll be sounding like Tom Waits chewing water crackers in a cheese grater factory!

The only thing more pathetic than fans who hang around message boards finding nothing to criticize about their favorite artists are "fans" who sit around message boards with nothing but complaints. It's time for a few people on here to move on with their lives. You are no longer fans of Paul. We get it. Move along and find something productive to with your time.

Thank You! We saw Paul in Detroit Wednesday & it was great. He was in great form, the audience was having a blast. What happens when I look on here later on? The reason he sounded good in Detroit was ,he must have been auto tuned ! Yeah right, you weren't there ! & I was going to post the the list of sound check songs & the concert, but I saw a post complaining once again, so why bother. & ,the macca board was talked about during our dinner, most fans said they don't bother posting on here anymore because of the handful who think their opinions are the only ones that matter, ours don't. Even long timers who would post their photos etc, can't be bothered with the negativity on here anymore. I get it, you have a right to complain if you want,we have that same right to love the concert we saw.....& love the songs we heard at that concert ! Peace !

"The reason he sounded good in Detroit was ,he must have been auto tuned ! " I said "Maybe I''m Amazed sounded like it was autotuned. Mr. McCartney has not done that song very well at all in quite a few years. It surprised me that it sounded that good and not "rough" at all so I am suspicious. As for other songs, Mr. McCartney sounds pretty good on most Beatle songs because they are still in his vocal "wheelhouse". "most fans said they don't bother posting on here anymore because of the handful who think their opinions are the only ones that matter, ours don't" Everybody has a right to their opinions. They are some people like myself who "complain" about his setlist because I want to hear more of his great songs from 1980 to present. I am sorry, I happen to think he is more than "Beatle" Paul and the leader of Wings.

"I love Paul but for him to continue to go around the world singing Hey Jude, Let It Be, Blackbird etc for the 1000th time doesn't excite his real fans." Amen !!! You do know you are going to hear it about his "real" fans comment - lol. Let me put it another way, some people appreciate the entire career of Mr. McCarteny and not just is days as a Beatle and leader of Wings.
-
How about all of you "real" fans who feel so superior to those of us who enjoy the concerts because we - gasp- love the Beatles as well, turn off the message boards and stay away from the concerts. It's a win-win from everyone.
-
Paul only did around 22-23 concerts this year so I would hardly call it constant touring that is getting in the way of his ability to write and record new material. As Paul often says, he probably appears to be more busy (with concerts and public appearances) than he actually is. He has tons of time to write, that doesn't mean he would (or should) release a new album every year if he stopped playing live.
-
I am not going to attend a Paul show again, I have seen him eight times and enjoyed every minute. I will not stay away from here. Set lists are no longer posted because there is little point in doing so, as he plays the same songs. No biggie. I get that it is fun for those going, all I have ever said to those folks is "have fun." And I mean it.
