Paul McCartney 2016 Rumors

Bob Gannon:
I would think that we will know something by mid March/Early April . Loved the Glasgow show I went to and always love the Liverpool shows so I'm on board for UK too! I'm hoping New Jersey as well, hasn't been here since 2002
You should come back to Glasgow whether Paul's playing there or not Bob. It's a lovely city and I'd by the beers!

That's great news!!! Obrigada I was afraid they were more expensive then the US, like in Mexico. I seem to remember Hot Sound for Guadalajara was almost $30,000 - so just over $2,000 US. By the way, we met briefly after the Quarry Men concert in Liverpool. There was another board member from the Netherlands with you, if I remember correctly.
That's right! Good luck with your plans, hopefully we will meet again!
yes I hope so too!!

It'd be great if he added some UK or Europe shows around the June gig, but doesn't seem likely based on his pattern last few years. Some random thoughts about music festivals - which I think he'll continue to do here and there. There's T in the Park (in Scotland), not for this year but maybe 2017? Stone Roses is playing this year and they've done Coachella like Paul. Also, this could be a chance to go to Scotland without having issues selling tickets. It's gotta be at least as important as Firefly... In SA. Colombia's first Lollapalooza is in October and the acts haven't been announced. It's almost 4 years since the Bogota show. And he just did Lolla in Chicago...

Pinkpop Festival in The Netherlands for June rumoured. For many reasons I hope not, but I'm afraid it's finally going to happen after all these years.

Very interesting info, thanks! https://www.counterculture.nl/2016/01/derde-headliner-bekend-voor-pinkpop/ I see that the festival will happen in June 10-12, and he has already confirmed a gig in England on June 25. Could that mean a tour of Europe and the UK in June? A new tour would be a good oportunity to visit countries he has not been to in a while, like Germany, Spain, Scotland, Russia, etc. There must be demand for tickets in those places.

Yes, it's very plausible. But the overkill-factor over here will be kicking in heavily if he will be confirmed for Pinkpop, and the tickets will not sell as fast as what Pinkpop needs with an expensive act like that.

Trust me, you don't even wanna go to Pinkpop for free, haha. It's that I won't be in the country, but even if I was I would skip.

Billy Joel has been announced for the third consecutive year at Wrigley Field in Chicago. I wonder if they tried for Paul.
-
Paul doesn't gather anywhere crowds as big as in South America. it would be a good boost for his ego to perform a few shows in Brazil and Argentina again

I'm done with all festivals. They ain't for me. I considered giving Bonnaroo another attempt, but their just-announced 2016 line-up is a joke.

Haha, I would love to see McCartney at a festival. But not Pinkpop. Just 70,000 people crammed on a field and a few beer and burger stalls. With a curfew. With day tickets and no festival atmosphere. And no night program. An organisational nightmare, in the middle of a neighbourhood. And a stale program (Foo Fighters, Metallica, Muse, Kings Of Leon, etc. every other year). A fish and chips-festival, as we call it. Really, he played 2 gigs over here half a year ago which were a hard ticket to sell, even the die-hards will skip Pinkpop, with it being in the middle of nowhere and tickets more expensive than a regular arena gig over here... Plus Pinkpop won't attract a whole new crowd for him, unlike the golden moves at Roskilde, Lollapalooza, etc. since no one goes to Pinkpop for the festival, but only for the names on the bill. I must admit Bonnaroo had better years, but it's still pretty solid past the headliners.

I'm curious: Who are some of the better bands to see at this year's 'Roo. I keep up with indie music, but I gotta' tell ya', most of those names on that line-up roster elude me.

I was in Qubec City 2008 and that blew away the best SA show number of people wise. Probably the top 3 or 4 combined

I wish we'd all stop thinking of that tiny show in a pub for about 400 people for charity as a "gig"! It makes people overseas think us brits have got a show so we can "at least go to that one so stop moaning" kind of thing!!

You mean the free show, Bob? Those don't count! If Paul performs a free concert in Argentina or Brazil at least a million people would show up.

According to Fernando Moya, the man in charge of Time For Fun, Paul will play in Argentina possibly in a year or two: http://www.lanacion.com.ar/1862547-fernando-moya-con-el-fin-del-cepo-el-negocio-se-va-a-agilizar-y-vendran-mas-artistas This is a very recent (and long) interview in which he explains in detail the problems the country had been facing to bring international artists, and how things are getting better now.
