Paul McCartney 2016 Rumors

I just want to see him here on my dung heap, I want to enjoy every minute of it with mates who haven't been as fortunate as me, who can't travel.

There is no Argentina without Brazil on Macca's tour. And... I have a ticket to see the Stones on february 7, YAWZAA
Enjoy the show, it will be great. I'll be be seeing them on Feb.20 in Rio for the first time at Maracanã Stadium. I've never been inside, so it will be exciting. I'll try to imagine what it will be like when Paul returns there. By the way, someone has mentioned that there are negotiations going on for Paul to play in Chile as part of the South American tour this year, but I don't know whether that's true or not.

That is unless they decide to keep away from Zika virus spreading mosquitoes.

"The truth was that ticket sales had stiffed and if the shows had gone ahead McCartney would have performed to a half empty venue." If I was Macca I'd never return to Australia then. He can go anywhere else and fill large stadiums, no reason to play to half empty venues in a far, far away place.
Hmm a bit mean don't you think? You do have a bit of an i'm alright jack attitude to anywhere other than your beloved South America (that you think Paul may as well move to as it is the only place where every member of the population loves him.. according to you!!)

Hahaha what is an "alright Jack" attitude? In here Macca concerts sell out, even at big 50k seat stadiums, so why not return to places like that instead of playing to half empty venues somewhere else?

Awesome, I would love to see the concert at Maracana! It boggles the mind Paul returning to Chile... he performed in a small arena in 2014 and the concerts were not sold out. Plus the Chilean audience sucks, I know 'cause I was there for both shows and people behind me would insist on me sitting my ass down (It's a rock concert people, not the bloody cinema!)

Yes, Paul is evil. Really evil. He loves bullying the Australians. He does all of this on purpose. And enjoys it. Come on, we are talking about a country of 20 million people (or what is the count). There is a lot of bigger countries where people are still waiting and waiting.... and a lot of other countries where he has not played for quite some time. A lot of power probably is with concert promotors, who can and will cancel if there is no profit to be made or for other reasons and who can influence ticket prices. Why can't the Bali bombings not have been a reason for cancellation BTW ? The targets that terrorists choose are often symbols of Western culture and Western freedom (Paris, Bali, London, NYC)..... Just like me, you can all speculate on why and how and when, but nobody here knows the true reasons. Plus the negative posts don't add anything. If you want to skip a concert: that's fine, go ahead (like Pinkpop for example) but why let everybody know about it ? Allow other people a good time at a Macca concert but don't bring the mood down..

i'm just hoping something gets announced soon. there's not much to really suggest he's going to play in the UK this year apart from that charity thing, but it's a charity thing, and not a proper gig. i hope he does tho and to the australia situation, i think it's best to let go of the past. if he comes, that's great but if not then there's not much to be done and complaining about it won't do much. i can't say much cos i'm not australian, i get that. but i think it's nice he posted anything at all for australia day.

The official excuse was the Bali bombings, that it would be inappropriate to perform in that aftermath -- which smelled like bulltish to anyone with the most basic critical thinking skills.
Especially when he went ahead and played all of the shows in Japan a week or so before

The Australia show was supposed to be the 23rd or 22nd but he wound up playing 5 Japan shows Nov 11th thru 18th

Me too, hopefully in the next couple of years. There are a few more cities he will probably visit first (Salvador, Porto Alegre, etc), so maybe Rio and Buenos Aires will get tour dates together someday?

I doubt that charity performance is an isolated event. If he's confirmed at Pinkpop, that increases the possibilities of a EU/UK tour. Last year the announcement was made in March, so we should have an answer within the next 6-8 weeks.

Audi and Bob are right. Also, I think part of the point was that a number of Australians died in the Bali bombings and Paul's reasoning seemed hypocritical given the way that he responded to what happened in New York (i.e., the exact opposite response - get involved in a special concert and even write a special song for the event). So it was hard (well, let's be honest - impossible) to believe that that reason (well, let's be honest - excuse) was anything other than spin. Bear in mind that part of the problem was that Paul was contractually bound to play only in Victoria. The first show sold out and he could have had a successful tour if he had played a few different states. The Victorian government was trying to create more tourism, and many of us who did make travel arrangements either lost our money or went on a trip to Melbourne that we would not otherwise have gone on. (I was one of the lucky ones because, coincidentally, I was going anyway.) Regardless of whether or not they lost money, the bottom line is that a lot of people were (a) disappointed to miss out on a concert that they had been looking forward to and (b) more importantly, hurt to be lied to by one of their musical heroes. I personally couldn't bring myself to listen to Paul's solo and Wings music much for many years. It was only when "Memory Almost Full" came out and something about one of the songs made me feel a connection to Paul again that I got over it. Since then, I've been lucky enough to see Paul live several times, unlike most Aussies. I've also started to wonder whether Paul himself was fed - and swallowed - that particular bit of spin. I started thinking this when I heard Bono talk about how U2's "Pop" album was rushed at the mixing stage and would have been much more successful if only they had had more time to mix it. They even went as far as using remixes of the singles on their "Best Of" album (which, to my ears, don't sound half as good as the originals). I couldn't help thinking that there was a man who had fallen for his own people's spin, and I wondered if the same had happened to Paul about the Melbourne ticket sales. (e.g.,"It's not you, Paul. These people are in mourning. It's not the right time for a rock show.") Giant egos can take a lot of massaging. Anyway, as far as I'm concerned, all is forgiven. And I've got my fingers crossed.

Yeah, a lot of bigger countries...such as the Netherlands; with a population the same as Australia in an area smaller than Tasmania. No problems for you - you can catch Paul in Amsterdam or Rotterdam, or Arnhem. ...or Frankfurt, or Dortmund, or Cologne, or Antwerp...and if you really wanted to make a long haul trip - London. Geez there's not a lot of magnanimous posts around here these days. To quote you, "Come on" if it was 23 years since Paul played your backyard, you'd be crying into your poffertjes.

I feel the same Andrew. Moreover Paul's behaviour was becoming more and more erratic after Linda died. To this day I believe if Linda had still been around, those 02 shows would have gone ahead. Paul was in the world of the Geordie at the time. No good.

You might be onto something. Zika is officially out of control now. Will we see aborted tours/concerts, Olympians steering clear of that region? Once bitten - twice shy indeed. Literally! Tell you what if were a tourist there and you met a gal named ANNETTE, you'd be sticking to her like glue!

Let go of the past? YOU hope he plays the UK this year and I hope he plays Australia. We both are hoping. What's wrong with that? While he's alive and still able to play there is at least a chance.

Except he's not confirmed for pinkpop! All of these festivals leak Macca rumors and they turn out to be true about 10% of the time. Recent teenage cancer trust show was also a one off with no UK/Europe tour to coincide. So it doesn't mean anything until the schedule is released

Ron Wood's wife is pregnant with twins. Presumably she won't be going. Taking into account just how much this Zika virus has snowballed out of control in just a week, might the Stones get cold feet and pull the pin? Not just the band, who ARE old men after all, but big bands have crews of a hundred or more. I can't see anybody keen to go there - if they had an option.

My thoughts exactly. This virus is getting scarily out of control by all reports. If I were a 70 year old I wouldn't be going anywhere near South America at the moment.

Does anybody know if they're going to have a 10 year anniversary for the "Love" show in Vegas? I went for the 5 yr and it was a blast! So cool seeing Paul, Yoko, Olivia, and George Martin in the audience! ...then catching 2 Paul shows afterwards to boot! An amazing vacation, indeed!
