I haven't said anything on here yet, but my Dad passed away Weds. Jan. 6th. I was with him at the end. He almost made it to 90 (born April 17, 1926) I'm so grateful he was well enough to spend Christmas Day & dinner with us! Love you Daddy!
So sorry for your loss, (((Nancy))) I don't often read this thread ... you said something I saw elsewhere ... prayers for you & your family!

Thank you Andy!

How many people have to die before wiping out cancer is a top priority?
Pardon my cynicism*****, but no disease will ever be cured again. Medicine has become corrupt by $$$. It is more profitable to treat disease than it is to cure it. Period. *=I'd been a devout supporter of the Muscular Dystrophy Association for over 30 years
As long as people think it can't be done, it can't. But they said the same thing about polio, measles and leprosy. Those all still exist, but how often are your neighbors dying from them?

Fortunately, Not Everyone In The Field Of Medicine Subscribes To This Philosophy...Even Sadder Is The Idea That They Believe That They Won't Have To Eventually Face Up To The Irony Of Their Feelings, Thoughts, Actions And Inactions.

I just heard about Alan Rickman and I have to wonder, how many people have to die before wiping out cancer is a top priority?

Since David Bowie had this own thread, I though Rickman deserved one too, so I opened one up here: http://maccaboard.paulmccartney.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=91188

Ugh now Alan Rickman!

Glad that Bowie found God at the end/beginning.

"Three days ago David Bowie released the music video for his single ?Lazarus? in which Bowie himself takes on the role of the fallen biblical figure who is resurrected, briefly, to say goodbye. Two Days ago, he came out of retirement to share his new album "Black Star" with the world. I think this album was David Bowie's final goodbye to rock and roll and ultimately this world. Now if that isn't the most beautiful, peaceful, poetic, artistic and utterly Bowie way to go... I don't know what is. Rest in Peace, Starman." "This way or no way You know, I?ll be free Just like that bluebird Now ain?t that just like me" -Lazarus, David Bowie

^ I was quoting my oldest G.daughter's comments. She is a big fan of David's and attended a candlelight vigil for him with her college mates after he passed away Sunday Eve.

You have a granddaughter old enough to write something so profound? (you must really be old! JK, I know about how old you are!)

I loved Alan Rickman's roles too! Especially in the Harry Potter Movies and the first Die Hard movie. He was 69 too (would have been 70 next month) What was his cause of death? ETA: Cancer again!

Alan Rickman was one of my favorite actors

Rene Angelil, a musician and Celine Dionne's husband, has died of throat cancer at age 73.
-
Sad to hear of Alan Rickman passing. I liked his acting and characters from Die Hard to Harry Potter movies. Rest in Peace

Why can't they cure cancer? Many years ago, I attended a seminar saying that they know certain foods we are eating, are causing cancer...and that it's such a big business, that certain interests are more important than cures. It seems by now, there should be more cures for cancer. They don't even allow warnings on the foods that are bad for you. Just bloody awful !

Celine Dionne's brother has passed away from cancer, two days after her husband! Actor Dan Haggerty ("Grizzly Adams") has also died from cancer. Broadway actor Brien Bedford has died.
