Paul McCartney 2016 Rumors

They always seem to be negotiating and would make more sense doing it for future shows.

What a pity, that we don't have such a great informant in Europe..

So contenders are: Rosario, Argentina and Sao Paulo/Porto Alegre, Brazil
Paul apparently has an extra date that is being negotiated with promoters (that info comes straight from someone working on it), but I doubt Brazil will win this one. He wouldn't come here to do just one concert, due to logistics and the cost involved. Unless they're planning on shipping the stage used in Córdoba to either Porto Alegre or Rosário and assembling it while he's doing the two concerts in La Plata. Those 3 cities are not too far away from one another, so there should be enough time. The way I see it, all 3 cities have pros and cons: Rosario is closer, but the promoter has said he wants to pay 20% less than La Plata (plus the stadium is a bit small and the government doesn't seem willing to cooperate). Porto Alegre and São Paulo are apparently offering more money, but he would have to go to another country to do just one concert. Also, there are too many concerts scheduled for May already, and a very narrow window between Argentina and Germany, so I don't see how he could add another country. If he really does have a free night and is willing to add a concert, the smart business decision would be to do a third night in La Plata. He will be there already and all 3 concerts will sell out, just like the Stones did last month. It would reduce costs and increase his profit. Then he can do a deal to play in São Paulo and Porto Alegre either in November 2016 or April/May 2017 and profit again, as they're offering a ton of money. Let's not forget he's running a very expensive business that includes 100+ people who need meals, hotel rooms and plane tickets, plus tons of equipment that are shipped all over the world and plenty of other expenses. I'm sure he wants to play to all of his fans worldwide, but he has hired a tour manager and advisers to help him decide where to go and when. We can't expect him to play for free, just like we would not work for free. Bottom line: he doesn't have to choose. He can simply accept offers from both countries in separate periods of time, plus the ones he is offered from the USA, Europe, Japan, etc. It's just a matter of juggling them around, which is the MPL symbol after all.
Thanks for this very interesting info, Carlos! I wonder if declaring in public that you are asking for a 20% discount is a good strategy for that promoter? I'm sure that Paul's people would prefer to have everyone think that the fees are not negotiable (and I don't know whether they actually are or not)? Having said that, I'm not sure how the rumoured multi-million dollar guarantee works, considering that some shows don't even gross $2 million, according to this: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Out_There_%28tour%29

You're welcome, Andrew. I think that man realizes his offer will not be accepted. Maybe he went to the media hoping that would generate some support for his cause, either from the government or from private individuals. In recent years several people have leaked info about upcoming concerts all around the world, but that was usually when they knew it would be eventually confirmed. Just recently promoters in Spain and France placed posters & billboards on the streets about concerts before those were announced by Paul's team. They were also very active on social networks, such as Live Nation Spain creating a daily countdown to the announcement. Last year a British newspaper published Paul's full UK/EU tour dates the day before they were announced on his website. And plenty other examples around the globe. I think Paul and his staff don't worry about such things, as it creates a buzz in the media and generates excitement among fans. Do you remember any examples of Paul cancelling a deal solely because the promoter talked to the press about it?

I hope no more shows are added. I simply don't have enough money to go to 4 shows in a week lol

They should offer a pack... "buying tickets for all concerts at once gets a 25% discount". That's how you reward fans who attend multiple shows. Mr. Bell, please take note

Still no rumours about Europe?
All the rumours seem to have dried up unfortunately. Let's hope he plans some Euro dates for the back end of the year.

It did say "keep checking back for further announcements" So don't give up just yet. It would be off of him to play Europe & not the UK & a far few other places
