Set List critique

after listening to "so glad to see u here" today. I'm wondering whether there is a chance to performe this song live. Together with the power of the band it could work IMO. I don't know why not. In the case of Helter Skelter or We can work it out (in which Paul had problems 2003 already) they are sucessfully :

Do we know if the 'One on One' title actually means it will be a partly solo show? could be just a random title like 'Out There'.

As of right now, no we don't. Personally, I doubt that Paul is going to something like that at this stage of his career.

Very unlikely. It would only make sense in smaller places, even arenas would be a problem. One person entertaining full stadiums? Not even Paul McCartney can do that Of course I think there will be the usual couple of songs played "solo," but I would not expect anything more.

Perhaps One On One refers to the plucking from the audience of fans who want a body part signed for a tattoo? That's pretty one on one.

I just found the page where 5th-beatle correctly predicted Temporary Secretary....way back in Dec. 2014.... Do you have any intell about the upcoming setlist?? Sidenote: funny seeing the incredulous responses, I was just as doubtful he'd do it. When I heard the first notes in London I started jumping up like a crazy person - for a second thought he was going to stop it, laugh it off as a joke and go into Let Me Roll It, for the 20 millionth time. http://maccaboard.paulmccartney.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=89234&postdays=0&postorder=asc&highlight=temperary+secretary&start=330

Most offbeat, daring choice he ever did. Highlight of the gigs last year, a pleasure. McCartney mentioned rehearsing that song in the Nerdist podcast interview from that month. An interview which was by the way his most enjoyable in ages, recommended. So it was an easy guess, he even talked about digging out the sequencer sounds. Then, when the Wix in-ear monitor tape from the Budokan rehearsal (not sound check) popped up, it was obvious this song was ON.

Maybe he will do Arrow Through Me on the One On One Tour!!

I found the Budokan recording - the one with Martha My Dear, but where is the part referring to Temporary Secretary? Would you mind sharing that? And I agree - a definite highlight. Was surprised he skipped it at Lolla, would have been the perfect crowd for it.

That was crazy that he skipped it at Lolla.

It's just Wix testing out the sequencer sounds for a bit. It's when McCartney is not on the scene yet and he goes through his sound banks - the horror! those horns! - while Abe Jr. is drumming. Bits and pieces of the 'Hope For The Future' loops, 'Got To Get You Into My Life', then suddenly his 'Temporary Secretary' sounds. "00.37Temporary Secretary.flac", if you wanna dig it up ;).

[..] He needs to open with I Want To Hold Your Hand if he wants to generate that kind of excitement now.
Just imagine that! That or 'She Loves You', my dreamed opener.
That's exactly what I was thinking. Paul should open the show with She Loves You. There are many reasons it would be a perfect choice: - it's super-high energy - it's a fan favorite from the early days - it's a song that John acknowledged was Paul's idea ... and best of all ... - it would be perfect for the shows in Germany (Sie Liebt Dich) Has he played it live since 1964?

She Loves You is certainly 50/50 Lennon and McCartney, along with I Want To Hold Your Hand and From Me To You. Sounds to me like Paul wrote the chorus, as he has a tendency to repeat hooks (She Loves You Yeah Yeah Yeah...) Let It Be, Let It Be, Let It Be... The verses sound like Lennon to me with a Paul harmony, though it is really hard to tell which is the main melody and which is the harmony. Not likely he will play it, though you never know.

^^ I thought the story was they developed the song together in a hotel, but John said in an interview that it was Paul's idea. If it's okay for Paul to play BFTBOMK, then this should be no problem.

Was 'Temporary Secretary' the first time in 5 years ('Ram On', 'Bluebird') he did a solo song for the very first time ever? That's shocking, with an average of about 35 shows every single year since then. What was the time before that... 'Flaming Pie', 2004 ?

He did say that. But even Paul said they both wrote the song together. Paul said this in an interview: "We were in a van up in Newcastle somewhere," stated McCartney back in 1963, "and we'd just gone over to our hotel. I originally got an idea of doing one of those answering songs, where a couple of us sing about 'she loves you' and the other one sort of says the 'yes, yes' bit. You know, 'yeah, yeah' answering whoever who is saying it. But we decided that was a crummy idea anyway. But we had the idea of writing a song called 'She Loves You' then. And we just sat up in the hotel bedroom for a few hours and wrote it." I think Paul has much more claim to perform She Loves You, than Mr. Kite, which I will always believe is a John song through and through.

Hasn't been played live since the U.S. Tour - Summer '64.

Do we think Germany will get "Hope Of Deliverance" this time 'round, since they didn't get it back in '09?
