[..] Going to show 2, lad?
No, this was my golden lucky chance until he comes to Australia, lol. I made the impossible happen. Travelled from Australia to California for another act: jetlagged and without sleep from Friday morning in Australia to Friday morning on the West Coast US straight to Palm Springs, day later flew to San Francisco without any sleep, day later to Santa Cruz without much sleep, after the gig straight to the airport and onto Vancouver via LA with only an one hour power nap, and now again without any sleep catching a plane in 3 hours back to LA. I knew it would be worth it. And btw, Ticketmaster stitched me up and never made my ticket upgrade happen in the end, and were unreachable on all fronts. All shout-outs and props and blessings and thumbs up to the local Rogers Arena people (and the Vancouver locals in general). They traded my nosebleeds I was saddled with, with fantastic seats at the side for no extra fee to make up for the Ticketmaster hassle. I always was at the front for McCartney, or at the least close at the front, and this was a whole different experience, but I actually really enjoyed it this way.
Glad you had a good time! We all will be on watch for your video! edit...just saw the My Valentine vid. Great! Thanks!

Try to hear "Mull of Kyntire" ....
Clearly he struggles with the higher parts, but I think this song fits, since it is a folk song, so an older guy singing it is very endearing. Also, when he goes for those high notes, though wobbly, his voice is clear and pure. His intonation is a bit off since he struggles to stay in pitch. That's ok. It's when he grinds to hit high notes on AHDN or Helter Skelter that I cringe, not just for how it sounds, but because it hurts to listen to, knowing what it does to the voice. Having said that, it's his voice and none of my business.
True but if I pay for a ticket to see and hear him, his voice is my business. I realise too that at this stage it's very much caveat emptor. I'm fine with that.
I get that! I just meant he isn't asking my opinion and will do what he wants, no matter my advice!

I think we should all be interested in this evening's set more than the other sets since the opener. If there's going to be anymore new songs introduced on this leg, it'll probably be on the second night at the same venue.

Agreed. Usually with back to back shows in the same city he has a different opening number as well. We shall see!

Unless he did something totally different like "Take It Away", I could care less about the opening number changing. Opening with another Beatle song would not make a difference to me. I can't think of any Beatle song he has not done that would really make me say wow - lol.

fast review, my first show of this tour. His voice is not what it was years ago, of course, and there are bobbles here and there, but it is not horrible. seems like it tends to waver most at the beginning of songs, before he gets into the song and finds his place, so to speak. His spirit and stamina have not wavered, tho. He looks good and is still having fun. I enjoyed the middle section with "Danger" and "Love Me Do" very much. Big family called up after Yesterday for mum and dad's tattoo moments, thanks to a sea of signs that they plus others held up and which Paul saw during the sign-reading moment. Also another couple, just the woman was signed. Her whole back had a big elaborate Beatles tattoo. And of course, an opportunity to hear Mull of Kintyre with a very large pipe band. Always a treat. It was in a different position, did not follow Yesterday as it usuallly does. The tattoo family came after that song, then there was Hi Hi Hi, then Mull, followed by Birthday and then the Golden Slumbers medley. also, I didnt remember seeing it mentioned in reviews for any other cities, but John Hammel does not seem to be on this tour, so perhaps he did retire. I know someone asked him at the PETA show last year, and he seemed surprised and asked where we had heard that, and inferred that it wasnt true. Will be interested to see what songs get changed out at tonight's show. My guess is Birthday in the encore.

Went last night and have to admit somewhat nervous because of the negative reports. Not to go thru the setlist but loved hearing hard days night...love me do...mr kite... I would say 3/4 songs you noticed the strain a bit especially on You won't see me, but overall I was thrilled with the voice. This was the 10th time I have seen him and loved the setlist...loved the new light and laser show... I liked the story about George Martin and it's funny i would have like him to change up,the tribute songs, but Here Today and Something always get me going... 4/5 seconds was neat...loved the raspy voice and the crowd seemed to like it too...brought up a family to the stage who were decked out in Sgt Pepper costumes and he signed a few body parts and signs...probably took 5/6 minutes to do it all... All in all, I had a fantastic time.. I had no concerns about his voice and he seemed to be really enjoying himself... Going tonight too!!

Just saw a floor seat/row 40 for $69 on TM!

So then...who got the guitars for Paul? Was someone in training? haha

I know this isn't exciting for most...but I still (after nine shows) have not heard "Hello, Goodbye" and would absolutely love to have that back on as the opener.

Of the 5 shows I've attended, he has played it ONCE... at Yankee Stadium, opening night of the tour... was it "Out There"... I don't know... I've lost track of his tours... anyway, I was totally thrilled he was playing it and then the lady behind me almost ruined it by yelling at me to sit down... yes, she yelled at me to sit down during the opening song!!! And she was pretty nasty about it. I was so hacked off... grrrrrr.... but I have seen him play it

That was the "On The Run" launch. I was there the second night and was ecstatic when he played "Magical Mystery Tour" as I had never heard that one...plus, I hadn't looked at the previous night's setlist...so many surprises awaited me! I've only had that sort of seating problem once for Paul, and that was Philly '10. I stood up when he came out for "Venus and Mars/Rock Show/Jet" there were quite a lot of people yelling after he got through all that, but quite a lot of us standing, we made it through "All My Loving" but a lot of people sat for "Letting Go" and the numbers were against me by then so I caved and sat.

Yeah... that's irritating! But seriously... the first song??? And that's exactly what I said to her... "Lady, it's the first number!!!!" Then she gave me this snippy response, "Well I asked you nicely!" And believe me... she really didn't!! Ugh... whatever. I'm over it now... really, I am!!! BTW, the Venus & Mars/Rock Show was my favorite opener of any of the shows I've seen, with "Hello Goodbye" coming in at #2, but I just loved that he opened with a Wings song during '10 tour!

I feel like he's always picked great openers, he just doesn't change them enough, with V&M being the exception...but I remember him saying later that he wasn't happy with it. I still think he should have sang V&M off stage, then ran on for Rockshow...the WHOLE piece- not just a snippet!

The entire place should have been dark for V&M beginning!

Nice review!
thank you! One thing about the George Martin story, the best part is when Paul imitates George Martin when he describes what he was asked to do during the recording session. It's a great imitation!

dont know who he was. He even repeated John's shtick after Yesterday about telling Paul the crowd wanted one more song.
