I feel sick that I didn't stay for that tonight. Last night was fabulous!
The lineup starting at 5 pm (on the lawn) was The Jukebox (from Puerto Rico--the "George" is from the same city as my grandfather--Mayaguez!) 7 pm was BritBeat, then Felix 's Rascals around 9 pm and the LOVE show around 11 pm. Felix was better than I thought he'd be at first when the show started. He did all his hits. Went to the Marriott after that for dance party with The Jukebox & Friends playing (guys from other bands would step on the stage and sing and/or play) Only stayed about an hour. It was good, I just was hot, tired and had to get stuff ready to leave (in about 7 1/2 hours!) Check out is at 11 am, but my ears are ringing too loudly to sleep just yet! I already got 5 day Ultimate Ticket to Ride (with reserved seating) for 2017 in Jeffersonville, IN (across the river) and put deposit on the Sheraton, which is the host hotel.
So tell us about the LOVE tribute to Geo Martin, please. How was it? Did anyone speak about him or was it just music?
The guy who sings Being For The Benefit Of Mr. Kite! is getting a bit long in the tooth and can't sing as well as before, but other than that, superb!
You were in Paris watching McCartney???

They just announced at the beginning that it was dedicated to him. It was fabulous! (they did the show several years ago and I saw it then as well) The guy who sings Being For The Benefit Of Mr. Kite! is getting a bit long in the tooth and can't sing as well as before, but other than that, superb!
Sorry I missed that. Thanks for the update. I thought this year was even better than 2013. So much peace and love. Very mellow and friendly group. The lady that I sat beside Sat. night and I conversed before the show started like we'd known each other forever . Everyone was great. The weather was a perfect 80ish degrees. I didn't put my jacket on until the very end of the Zombies show. The Marriott gave rides back and forth. Just perfection. Oh, and John's sister and I talked for a while before the evening show. Something about teaching special ed. The band was pretty loud, so I was only catching a word here and there, but she shared some things she was passionate about in the field at the time and I was nodding. I hope it continues to be this good next year across the river.
Yeah, me too! And I never need a jacket at AROTR! I'm always hot! (Robert, jump in here anytime!) This is Shannon's artwork that she had on display. When I first saw this online, I thought it was a photograph!

You know, this is the best festival out there and almost nobody has even heard of it. Definitely word of mouth. Maybe that's why it's so cool.

Bueller? Bueller? (Robert? Robert?) I know you must have a snappy comeback!

Nancy, this was very thoughtful of you to post the link. I always buy mine right before the event bc I never know which days/nights I will be able to go very much ahead of time.

Getting ready to leave on Wednesday for Nashville, then on Thursday my friend Jennifer and I will go to Jeffersonville, IN (across the Ohio River from Louisville, KY) for AROTR! The headliners are America and Vanilla Fudge. Geoff Emerick (recording engineer for the Beatles) will be there, along with a ton of Beatles tribute bands like BritBeat, The Jukebox Beatles and Hard Day’s Night. Two of my other favorites, Wingsbanned and Norwegian Beatles will also be there.

We are! Tonight the group All You Need Is Love did the entire White Album (even a shortened version of Revolution #9!) They did the slow Revolution #1 and also the fast Revolution! Lasted from 10 pm to midnight! Tomorrow night America performs. My friend got to meet Vanilla Fudge (3/4 are original members) and they signed one of their album covers that she brought. She also ran into Geoff Emerick and got a pic with him. Tomorrow we are going to his meet-and-greet and get his book signed. She has it in hardback, i have the trade paperback. I already paid to come next year. Got an early bird discount several weeks ago so only paid $160 for the 5-day Ultimate pass for 2019 which is now $200 and goes up to $219 Aug. 1st.

Have a good time & say Hi to Jennifer for me!

Thanks for the great report, Nancy! Must have been so awesome to hear the entire White Album live, and glad you were able to get such a good discount for next year!

Today met Geoff Emerick and got in free to see most of his talk (someone had 2 tickets that were unused and security let us in) Got his book signed and pic with him for $5.
Saw lots of tribute bands today, including three of my faves, Wingsbanned, BritBeat and Jukebox Beatles. And saw America (the band-lol!) They were great!
Was hot and sunny all 3 days. Today got up to 90!
We go back to Nashville tomorrow. ️

It is! Only downside is majority is outside and we had 3 days of heat/sun (high was 90 yesterday) so had to find shade! It rained today, I heard, but we drove back to Nashville today. Stopped in Louisville at Octopus’s Garden, a Beatles memorabilia store - fantastic! Got 10% off through AROTR so bought a switch plate cover, a magazine and a breakfast tray (for bed) all for only $60! When I get home will take pics and post! I drive home to Atlanta tomorrow.
-
Thanks, Nancy! Look forward to seeing your photos. Hopefully you didn't get too bad of a sunburn from not finding any shade in that heat. The Octopus's Garden Beatles store sounds really interesting to go to, sounds like there was a lot of great stuff to choose from... I probably would have spent too much! lol

Used lots of sunscreen, so no burn. Plus, we found shade 90% of the time.
That store had 3 rooms chocked full of stuff! Even had their iconic guitars for sale! I was like a kid in a candy store! Lol!

I’m home and half dead. Took 5 1/2 hours to drive from Nashville to Atlanta. (1 hour too long) Rained, plus we were detoured onto a 2-lane road because of an accident on I-24. Will need a vacation to get over my vacation.
