Another one: all of a sudden, they're all popping up! https://www.periscope.tv/w/1ZkKzvRbAEoKv

Dia:
It's the hour before Paul is on I was thinking of, while the DJ is playing and people are getting seated. Think I'll take a sweater because an hour can be a long time if a/c is blasting. I used to have to work under an air vent with cold air blasting so bad that I would sit at my workstation with a heavy jacket.
Well, yes, I think you should definitely bring a sweater! It was quite cool the last arena show I went to while waiting for Paul to come on.

Seems to be it for the periscopes! Glad I got to watch a little of it, I hadn't done that in a while.

From what I saw and heard, I have to say he seemed to sound pretty good tonight! And I'm not one who hesitates to say otherwise, as previous posts can attest. Seemed to be a great crowd, too!

I watched quite a bit of the show on Periscope last night. Not the best quality for watching and hearing the show, but I could get a good idea of the audience response. Relative to strictly his voice, it was ok at best...certainly not very good and considerably weaker than let's say 2010-2011. I'm not knocking Paul since he is after all 74 and he has been doing tours for such a long time. He is like Springsteen where the length of his shows are legendary. On top of that, many of the songs he does are not easy on the throat. It is just natural that at some point, his vocal chops are not going to be nearly as strong. Paul vocals were still good to very good 4-5 years ago but not now. The same can be said about Springsteen and he is like 10 years younger than Paul. What makes Paul's shows still so viable (and you could see it last night) is what he brings to the audience beyond his voice. His shows touch the heart and you can see it the way the crowd responds. When he gives you a quick snippet of the song's background or reads a quick sign, it touches his audience. The fact that his vocals are not what they used to be still doesn't detract from the experience the audience (especially 1st or second timers) have. I understand why he does so many Beatle songs (and big Wings' hits). People know them and you can almost feel the memories of the fans with each new reaction. For the hard core fans who have seen Paul many times, the status of his voice is more difficult to see. Also, the setlist has largely remained the same which is just as frustrating. It is natural for many on this site to be disappointed. That does not take away the fact that we still love him. Like others on this board, I am genuinely happy for the 1st timers who are obviously loving the show. Even last night as I was lucky enough to see a good number of songs on Periscope, I felt a lot of good memories and it was fun. I just hope his voice holds out for the rest of 2016.

Friend who was at both Milwaukee and Cincy shows thought his voice was better in Cincy! I don't think listening to a show via the poor microphones from a cell phone and a computer speaker does justice to what actually being there in person is like. But I know that people will continue to judge him by that. They have a right to that opinion and I just don't let it affect me or my enjoyment of the shows. Of course he doesn't sound the way he did 10 yrs ago. If I wanted to hear perfect Paul vocals I would stay home and listen to his recorded works.

Last night was my 9th Paul McCartney concert. We had probably the best seats I'd ever had for a Paul concert (19th row, piano side, just off the center aisle...I'm officially hooked on getting closer and closer from this day forward...what those first ten rows must be like). I took my youngest as a treat for his 7th birthday. In his own way, he's more obsessed than any of us. This was his first concert of any sort that didn't involve seeing either his mother or I play in a band. We built up to the whole thing as much as possible. This is the book his mother and I made for him for the reveal on his actual birthday:
And, of course, he and I had a homemade flip calendar staged on the family piano that we would tear a page off together first thing every morning (it went from EIGHTEEN DAYS TILL PAUL all the way to GO SEE PAUL). Kids make this sort of thing even more fun than it already is. The boy and I spent the last few anticipation days making a half dozen signs for the gig. Two of which made it onto the video screens during the concert: (our "Hey Jude sign") AND: (full disclosure - this is from a concept by our friend dappa-macca) And a few of which didn't: The boy had a fantastic time. Why, he even got picked up by the guitar tech at one point and held up onstage to watch for about a minute: Poor kid - he's gonna expect this kind of access/magic out of every concert from now on. But what an intro. As a longtime Paul concert attendee? I thought it was absolutely fantastic. Yeah, there are moments where you hear him struggle with certain notes or phrases, but...then there are all the times when he just reaches and NAILS some utterly impossible part with abundant force. I was super happy to see him rotate some now rather tired chestnuts (songs AND anecdotes!) out of the act, and - against all odds - a few heart stopping (and unspoiled!*) surprises managed to remain outside of my informational firewall and really kick me in the gut during the gig. Short version? A wonderful show with a more varied repertoire than he's given me in ages. I'm already contemplating the "hook or crook" scenarios that might possibly allow me to enjoy this tour on one more occasion. [size=7]*My own feelings about "the age of the unavoidable spoiler" are not kind or generous and probably shouldn't be allowed to taint an otherwise joyful post. Life is pretty special if you are allowed to let it unfold without having the answer key shoved in your face. -

I took my son a while back to a few MACCA shows starting when he was 7 or 8, best memories! Saw your sign last night, did your son see it on screen?

We saw your signs! Very cool. This was my 7th Paul concert, and for the most part I thought he sounded great. Yeah, a few clunkers here and there (Maybe I'm Amazed is always spotty at best), but I agree with whoever said there were other times you knew a difficult part was coming up and he just nailed it. If it was a whole show of struggling vocals I think it would be time to hang it up, but a few bad notes here and there doesn't detract from the enjoyment for most of us. I have his younger vocals on my iPod that I can listen to for the rest of my life, but I'm going to take advantage of seeing him in person every chance I get. There is a magic to his concerts that I don't get anywhere else, it's not just music it is an experience. There was a family in front of us with 2 little boys, both looked 5 or younger, and dad was filming them dancing and singing to all the songs--he was obviously SO proud that they were that excited and into the music as much as he was. That's what it's all about. For what it's worth, after the concert we overheard lots of chatter from the rest of the herd as we made our way out of the arena. Nothing but raves from the crowds around us, both seasoned and new.

Saw on Twitter that Brian Ray tweeted that Cincinnati was one of their favorite shows in a long time.
