The Beatles mentioned in other Artist's Songs

SurSteven:
Roger Waters of Pink Floyd has often times said how big of a Beatles fan he is. I have always interpreted this line from Dark Side Of The Moon as being a reference to Sgt. Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band. "And if the band you're in starts playing different tunes I'll see you on the dark side of the moon."
That line, that song, pretty much that whole album, is specifically about Syd Barrett, their founder who OD'd on acid and actually did play different songs and out of tune when the band was live. Until they kicked him out and got David Gilmour in on guitar. I guess you mean the lines in With A Little Help From My Friends; "What would you think if I sang out of tune? Would you stand up and walk out on me?"

One that came to my mind about The Beatles breaking up is Mother and Child Reunion by Paul Simon; "I can't for the life of me Remember a sadder day I know they say let it be But it just don't work out that way And the course of a lifetime runs Over and over again"

There is no doubt that Syd's tragic life permeated the album. Perhaps it's sadly ironic that Sgt. Pepper was peaking as an album at the time and was about The Beatles assuming the identity of a marching band and playing different tunes. Roger has been on the board before and said that he was a big Beatle fan.

Wasn't Rocky Raccoon written about Blake?
