Paul, Come To Australia
-
Richard Wilkins said on The Today Show this morning "Don't tell anyone I said this, but Paul McCartney will be touring Australia in 2017!".
-
Here's hoping. How far out from the concert are dates usually announced?

I don't know any more other than Richard made this statement. Who knows, he's a showbiz reporter, perhaps he was told something?, I don't know.

I'm not sure this is a fair comparison, given that Paul didn't even realise that he was on that record when he heard it! I'm no fan of Wilkins but I don't believe he's known for making stuff up like this. He was also the one who said that Paul's people were in Australia scouting venues earlier in the year. I'm guessing that he has a source close to the promoter and that the deal has now been done. If that's the case, I'd be surprised if we didn't hear something official by the end of the month.

I'm rooting for you!! And would be a great excuse to visit your country - spring 2017 would be an ideal time for me

Now, when you say Spring... Do you mean yours our ours?

Feb/March-ish. Their spring.

Wonder if Ode to a Koala Bear will get a gig? hehe If and its still a big If he comes down under I can see us Aussies clammering for tickets as it would surely be the last time we get to see him. In WA Perth Arena will need more that 1 show I think as capacity is under 15,000 and tickets will probably be close to $200 AUD at the cheapest. Bruce played 2 shows as did the Stones I think. Where do you think he will play in the other capital cities and how many shows? Promoters and the record company best be on the front foot with putting Paul's music out there and whetting out appetites, playing the new material would be a good start. Not sure if I should keep getting excited or tone it down as it has been a long long time and Id hate to be fooled by a whisper from Richard Wilkins

Interesting news! Thanks for posting! I'm just gearing up to see a few Cheap Trick shows in Japan this November. This would sure be a more than welcome addition to the summer plans!

Australia seems to have a problem with big international rock stars. Sting was paid handsomely ($1.2 Million AUD) to perform 3 songs prior to the AFL grand final, one of our premier sporting events and there has been overwhelming whinging from the public that a "has been" yes thats what alot of people were calling Sting was paid that much for delivering so little and you can bet that this could dent his reputation nationally which has been good might I add. I thought Sting was great but we are a funny bunch and id hate Macca to suffer a similar fate if he ever agreed to do a one off show in Australia.

Neil Young has been announced as headlining the Byron Bay Blues Festival and you should see the love and appreciation on social media and excitement, Id love Macca to get his dues down under and believe he can smash any tour out of the ball park, please Paul, please promoters time keeps ticking away do not deny us fans the opportunity.

I thought I'd email Marshall Arts about all the stuff with Richard Wilkins and everything. They're saying "pure speculation at present". Interested he would say "at present". I understand there's no way he would email back that "yeah Paul is touring next year and here are the dates", but I thought it might be interesting to send the email anyway. I know some folks on this board are certain it's happening, but it is hard to share the excitement all the way with no sources. I do tend to think that where there's smoke there is usually fire though and have my fingers crossed.
