George Michael Dead At Age 53

Bruce M.:
Another great talent gone. It feels like 2016 has taken my childhood and young adulthood and stomped on them, chopped them to pieces and set them on fire. Muhammad Ali. George Martin. Glenn Frey. Prince. Bowie. Arnold Palmer. John Glenn. Elie Weisel. Merle Haggard. Gene Wilder. I can't even.
Hi Bruce! How are you! I know how you feel, I also feel like 2016 has taken a lot of my childhood music idols away from me! The list you posted is quite long, and this is just 2016 alone!

There was a DJ named Gary McKee here in Atlanta in the mid-'80s who used to do the morning show and he had a WHAM! parody he'd play: "Wake me up, McKee, you bozo."
Hi Nancy! How are you? Is McKee still a DJ on the radio in Atlanta? I wonder how McKee feels about Michael's death? That's a pretty good parody!
No, he's probably retired! I ran into him in the elevator at the radio station when I went to pick up a t-shirt I had won! That was in the late '70s. Yep, retired! http://radiotvtalk.blog.ajc.com/2014/05/02/catching-up-with-gary-mckee-former-94q-host/

Hi Nancy! Thanks for the Gary McKee link, now I know what he looks like!

Hi Nancy! How are you? There have been many tributes for George Michael on television and are now starting to begin for Carrie Fisher. Like I said Nancy, 2016 is not ending on a good note.

Elton John will sing at George Michael's funeral, it's been reported.

Hi SusyLuvsPaul! How are you? I read the reports also, it is only fitting that Elton John has the honor of singing at George Michael's funeral. I've read in numerous interviews how Elton John and George Michael were the best of friends. They were very close friends from what I've read.

And they did a remake of Don't Let The Sun Go Down On Me together in 1991. Went to #1, whereas Elton's original only made it to #2 in 1974.

Yes, they did Nancy! I always believed that the 1991 remake was better than the original. I have a question to ask you as well as everyone else. After seeing George Michael perform the song "Somebody To Love" with Queen at the FREDDIE MERCURY TRIBUTE CONCERT in April 1992, I really felt that George Michael could have been a great front man for Queen. Its true, Freddie Mercury is irreplaceable, but George Michael would have done great things had he become Queen's front man. What do all of you think?
-
Yes I can imagine him being Queen's lead singer (also Adam Lambert) Elton John busted out crying over George Michael's demise, during a recent Elton concert if what I read is true.

Hi SusyLuvsPaul! How are you? I read about it as well, it was a very emotional moment for everyone! Maybe Hey_kittay can add something to this, she's the Sir Elton John authority.
-
Hay. Not too bad.

I read about your Brother in the "Rubbish" thread, I hope that everything works out okay.

The untimely death of George Michael is sad indeed. The sorrow of the event hung over the festivities of New Years in Las Vegas with the Elton John shows. As everyone knows, Elton paid tribute with, "Don't Let The Sun Go Down On Me." Less than a month before his death, Elton John released a refurbished VEVO video of "Wrap Her Up," from Elton's World Tour in 1985-86. Here it is:
RIP George Michael ð??? -

Saw him on what now was his last tour in Liverpool, think he only did 3 more dates in total after and it has to be said his voice was in wonderful condition a true star gone too soon but i can't help but feel too given his rather sparse output over the years if he'd have been a little more prolific how good would have been.

Hi hengirl! How are you? I hope all is well with you and your family. What year was his last tour? Was he trim during his last tour? The reason why I'm asking is because I have read reports that George Michael was overweight when he died. Is this true?
