pretty cool...sent me one ..I 'll pay shipping and anyone having trouble with the 45 from Best Buy ?? the site has nothing on McCartney ???
Bob, as a lurker on the SH forum - I think that post revealed yourself ð???
That's ok, not really a lurker there. I basically made a mistake here in this forum many years ago going by my real name. There I can kind of give hints with less chance of being found out. As many posts as I have made there, I don't think lurker is the correct terminolgy. The post was to simply show that I said I would make a nice disk of the download stuff and slip it in the box. No time to whine or complain, just fix the problem and move on. When handed lemons...make lemonade!!!

The one thing these FITD demos prove is that Paul should have done the entire album with Elvis. All of the M&M material is top-notch and interesting. The M&M material as a whole is much higher quality than the Macca only material.

Wow! Thanks for the clarifications! Is there a link to this magnificent compendium from our very own Luca? It should definitely be in my collection right up there with Mark Lewhison's works! As for what's up next? I'm stumped. I still haven't bought this. I was just at my local record stores and there were TONS of every edition of FITD there. They've been there almost two weeks and the guy at the counter said they aren't selling...like, at all. Their Super Deluxe is $130 and with my loyalty membership it would be $117...the same as Amazon. I think I will still wait patiently for a price drop. I also think it would have been wiser to...ya know, give this set its due justice and cut the download BS. But also to release it at the same time as Off The Ground (just like V&M w/ WATSOS). Bring the price down a bit on both, and I think people would be more inclined to buy them.

Get it from Import CDs. $111.98 which includes shipping (no tax like Amazon) Only ships in U.S. though.

Pairing it with "Off The Ground" would have worked in some ways, especially slimming them both down some, but it also would have shown Paul getting suddenly grayer, and they'd have to explain why the drummer suddenly changes. We watched the "Put It There" doc last night, and it's amazing how much you see Chris Whitten in that, and you barely see Linda and Wix at all. But there you go: if people aren't buying this one, I don't know how they justify continuing with these elaborate sets for albums that are not really remembered as much. That's why they're tying these last few to the famous guests, like Michael Jackson and Stevie Wonder and Elvis Costello. For "Flaming Pie" they could highlight Jeff Lynne and Steve Miller, and I can't imagine that album remaining out of print much longer, but it had no hits in the U.S., so they must be really wondering if it's worth the expense to put out. "Red Rose Speedway" was popular, but it was popular for a ballad. None of the other songs survived even to the 1976 tour. It would have to be sold purely on fan interest, and the inclusion of unreleased tracks and the "James Paul McCartney" special. They could pair it with "Wild Life," but that one had zero hits, and would it just drag RRS down further? I'm sure that Paul's manager and the rest of his team have had this conversation over and over. It becomes difficult to justify the cost and effort, from their standpoint.

I'm not supposed to do any direct marketing here, but just search on Amazon everywhere, "Paul McCartney: Recording Sessions (1969-2013)". The book offers 70 exclusive interviews with Paul's collaborators over the years and the stories behind all of his compositions after the Beatles and until NEW!

One factor to consider in this reissue campaign is that Capitol Records has been reported to be stopping physical releases altogether by 2019. I can't find official word on that, and maybe it only applies to regular releases, not special collector sets like this, but that seems to point to the reissue campaign being less, rather than more, satisfying in the future, whatever they do. Does anyone have an official reference for this?

This is the first I've heard that and it sounds absolutely ridiculous frankly...that's less than two years away. Not a chance.

Maybe not within 2 years, but if it happens I would not be surprised. CD players are disappearing from cars, for one thing.. http://www.npr.org/2017/02/28/517779766/ford-replaces-cd-player-with-streaming-music-in-new-vehicle And I think more people are turning to digital forms of music every year.

Well, sure eventually it'll be dropped altogether but I'd be thoroughly amazed if they are entirely phased out in less than ten years. I still VHS tapes turn up in Wal-Mart and CVS every now and then!

CRAP! I would only like that if it was free and you could play all Beatles if you wanted (or whatever you wanted)

I'm dubious about it too. I can't find an official source, but I keep seeing mentions of it. If anything, perhaps they'll stop putting out CDs of young artists whose fans don't buy CDs anyway.

Was there a big controversy with Chris leaving ?! I thought he just joined Dire Straits 1.... As with Paul being greyer - I'm not sure why that's a big deal ?!
