Waiting patiently for the return... Yeah, I was thinking the same thing with the sneeze! I'm paranoid I'm going to be sick for the Nassau shows and now I'm wondering if Paul already is!

I was watching a scope between Ob-La-Di and BOTR and he didn't play it then. Scope cut out during HJ, but seems to have been a standard set.

You're right, Acres...sorry about that, I missed it.

Would love to find Jessie, the girl who got on stage. Anyone know her?

I went to grad school at Syracuse with the girl who wrote this article. She also wrote another article that I'm quoted in. And I'll write a more in-depth report about last night's show a little later, but short review: show was terrific. Paul's voice sounded really good, and the audience in the Dome was very energetic.

Made 2nd page of the Sunday print paper! Last time I was in the paper, I got CRUCIFIED for pulling the plug on Nola Ryan's 6th? no-hitter to run a scheduled movie, about 20 years ago. Had no idea it was a no-hitter. This is better press.

The show was just out of this world. My wife and i took our two grand children. Ages thirteen and seventeen. First major concert they have ever attended. They both new all the lyrics by heart and were truly awe struck. It was my fifth and I'm already saving my pennies for the next one. On a side note, doesn't Carrier make air conditioners

you can see the scaffolding fire during Live and Let Die at 3:24 and again at the end of the song, about 4:08 to the end...Oh yeah. Even at 3:04

I feel I have to give special mention to the artist behind the decco limited ed litho from this show.... I bought it assuming it was the Empire State Building to represent NY and was absolutely thrilled to get home and see that it was actually our very own Niagara Mohawk building on Erie blvd. Someone did their homework. Very nice!!!

Rubber Soul's Syracuse McCartney Concert Review Wow, where do I start? This was my fourth McCartney concert, having seen him for the first time in 2013. His voice was absolutely amazing. I genuinely did not notice a difference between his voice on Saturday and his voice when I saw him in 2013. I went to this concert with the same friend who went to see Paul with me in 2015. My friend said the same thing: Paul hit all of the high notes in this concert and he didn't notice a difference in his singing. He actually (slightly) preferred this concert to the last. The Venue: I sat in the upper level (300s) for this show - the crowd was very much energetic up there. People were on their feet, sang, shouted, and danced for many parts of the concert (including me!). My view of the stage was fine. Now...about the heat. I'd imagine that people were passing out like flies. Does the Carrier Dome not have any air conditioning / ventilation system? Although I think that Paul normally has a fan on him during his shows, it was very apparent on Saturday, as his hair was blowing around non-stop (especially during the opening songs). The Atmosphere: You could tell that something special was happening on Saturday. I ate at a fancy restaurant downtown before the show and they were playing Beatles songs on their sound system. After getting to Syracuse University, I heard several student bands playing Beatles/McCartney tunes. I even heard people mentioning that a bell tower was playing Beatles songs - how cool is that? The Setlist: I know my opinion contrasts sharply with most on this board, but I really do appreciate Paul's setlist. For each concert I've been to in the last four years, his setlist is fresh enough for me that there's always something to look forward to. During my second concert, he played nine songs that he hadn't done at the first (mind you, this was still the Out There tour). During my third concert, he added another nine that he hadn't played at either of the first two. During this concert, he added five songs that I'd never heard before. He needs to keep it balanced between Beatles and Wings hits for the first timers and deeper tracks for the die-hard fans. For this concert, I was especially excited to hear All My Loving (I was hoping this one would make its way back into the set), JET!, A Day in the Life / Give Peace A Chance (neat that he seems to be doing this only for NY), Something, In Spite of All the Danger, Band on the Run, Yesterday, Sgt. Pepper, and the three-headed monster: Live and Let Die, Let It Be, and Hey Jude. Paul's Voice: As I mentioned before, his voice completely blew me away. After hearing some criticism from the board about his singing, I was growing slightly concerned. By the time Can't Buy Me Love rolled around, however, it was clear that his voice was as strong as I'd remembered and that he could still pack a punch. And then came Maybe I'm Amazed. It didn't sound great...it sounded amazing. He had so much power in his voice during the opening that I actually had a tear in my eye (a first for me!). He nailed the high notes and everything. Just unbelievable. All in all, a fantastic One on One show. I hope that Paul continues to have many more concerts like this. Paul - you've still got it! -Rubber Soul13

___________________________________________________ Rubber Soul13, Thanks for your quick review. It was nice to hear that Paul's voice has come back so strong for the New York shows. I did read the Syracuse paper review where the reviewer emphasized Paul's Band and how specifically Abe really helps Paul on the higher registers. That's fine with me by the way...anything to help Paul sound even better for the audience who are paying that kind of money. My only slight disagreement with your comments is in the Setlist section. You mention that Paul needs to keep it balanced between the Beatles and Wings hits for the 1st timers and the deeper tracks for the die-hard fans. My problem with Paul's setlist is that he totally ignores the centerpieces of his Solo Career. I define "deeper tracks" as something like Monkberry Moon Delight (from Ram) or Ballroom Dancing (from Tug of War). Songs like Wanderlust, Tug of War (the song), Take It Away, My Brave Face, Put It There, This One, The World Tonight, Beautiful Night, Little Willow, Hope of Deliverance, Too Much Rain, Jenny Wren, This Never Happened Before, Ever Present Past, That Was Me, House of Wax, Early Days etc. etc. are not deeper or tertiary tracks in my opinion for true fans of Paul's entire career. Those Solo Songs I listed were key songs from albums that got very good reviews and also received multiple Grammy nominations. Sadly Paul ignores that part of his Career. I love those songs and would have been thrilled to hear them. It was the key reason I decided not to attend this current leg of the One-On-One tour. I'm thrilled for the 1st timers but I personally have a problem with Paul ignoring great songs because it was not a Beatles or Wings song. Then when he includes songs like Temporary Secretary (a true deep cut if there was one) ), 4-5 Seconds, and I Wanna Be Your Man over almost all the songs I mention above, it really has me scratching my head.

Thanks for your comment, B J Conlee. In regards to your comment about Abe - I know that Abe takes the higher harmonies / backing vocals in many of the songs (i.e. the backing vocals on Helter Skelter, Maybe I'm Amazed, etc.). If there's a part of a song that's particularly challenging for Paul, I don't have any problem with him filling in the sound a bit. I personally haven't noticed this, but I have seen several articles mentioning it. If you think about it though, Paul did "layer his voice" (for lack of a better term) in many Beatles/solo recordings. Take Eleanor Rigby or Here There and Everywhere. But there's also songs which Paul does completely solo (vocal-wise), such as Yesterday, Here Today, and the melody of Maybe I'm Amazed. His performance of Maybe I'm Amazed was absolutely spot-on on Saturday and Abe certainly wasn't filling in for him then! I appreciate your comment about the setlist. I wouldn't be opposed to hearing some of the material that you consider to be deep tracks. Anything that Paul's willing to give I'm willing to take. I was just making the point that the setlists that I've witnessed have been varied enough to satisfy me. It'd be really neat to hear things like Monkberry Moon Delight, Waterfalls, Pipes of Peace, C'Mon People, Getting Closer, etc live but I have no objections to his current set! -Rubber Soul13
