I expected you to make such a comment. The DNC ruling is a joke. Sen. Clinton played by the rules in Michigan and let things play out at the time of the January primary. Source: The hearing on C-SPAN yesterday. Obama didn't even respect the process enough to keep his name on the ballot, yet he was awarded Michigan delegates yesterday. That's not democracy. That's substituting the DNC's judgement for democracy. The DNC has goofed again. Obama's supporters should ask them selves this: If Sen. Clinton was your candidate of choice would you be overjoyed? : It's like telling someone who is at the polling place that they can vote but then telling them after their vote before they get t0o the exit "Would you rather be cut off at the waist or down the middle because the vote you have just cast is only going to be 1/2 counted?"
All that talk, and all that mess will make only one thing happen! :- The Republican Party and John McCain´s Campaign SMILE/LAUGH with SATISFACTION!...ENOUGH of that mess!...Don´t you GET IT?!...Senator Barack Obama will be the Democratic nominee.Check out tonight and next tuesday´s events/results...

cheer up boys & girls.....the new number is now 2,118 not 2,025 so says the dems chief honchos.
Exactly. And Barack Obama has already,so far,2051 Total delegates.Obama has currently 327 SuperDelegates against only 291 of Clinton.Tonight, the Primary in Puerto Rico will give another 20 or 21 pledged delegates to Obama.So,2051 + 20 = 2071.More SuperDelegates endorsing Senator Obama next days...
Update/Official Results :- Senator Obama has now 328 SuperDelegates. So now,Obama has 2052 total delegates.Tonight,he will have more 20 or 21 pledged delegates after the Primary in Puerto Rico.
-
2052 total delegates + 21 State delegates (from Puerto Rico tonight) = 2073 + 9 pledged delegates (next tuesday´s Primary in Montana) + 10 (next tuesday´s Primary in South Dakota) = 2092 total delegates.Final 3 contests: The END of the Democratic Party Primaries. Then,2092 + ONLY another 26 Democratic SuperDelegates (tonight and next days...) = 2118 = NOMINATION for Senator Barack Obama. Wait just another few days and then you will see...

What does "Don't you GET IT?!" mean? Is that part of your capping out of excitement or are you in fact shouting at me and condescending to me? : Calm down! Respectfully, if you read my posts, rather than taking them out of context, you will note that I said if Obama is elected he will need a strong VP and cabinet to overcome his learning curve and inexperience. I also said that I will back the Democratic ticket in the General Election to keep John McCain out of The White House. People who back Obama seem to think that he is a lock to win against John McCain in November. I hope all the supporters of Hillary and Obama vote Democratic in November to achieve John McCain's defeat but just this morning on "CBS Sunday Morning" angry women for Hillary who protested outside yesterday's DNC meeting said upon hearing of the compromise "We will vote for John McCain in November." With white middle American men and white women for Sen. Clinton saying they will not vote for Obama in the General election, does that make Obama electible? That is the big question. How exhuberent will you be if we end up with McCain as the winner in November? Did you get that? :

What's this "Remember my words for the future" and "... You will see." stuff? I hope you gave me the courtesy of remembering what I said about some middle Americans and white women angry at the results of yesterday's DNC meeting vowing to vote for McCain. You can spout all kinds of percentages and delegate counts until the cows come home but the only numbers that count are the votes on election day and those of the electoral college. To reiterate, I said Obama needed a strong VP to overcome his inexperience. I said some people are still in favor of having Clinton on the ticket. Heck, the media was still talking about such a ticket on TV this morning. However, I also said that things will play out as they will and I will back the Democratic ticket in November. That's the part you're forgetting. My vote will not be part of the problem. Therefore, your "Remember my words .... and You will see" comments are misdirected at me. We are trying to inform the undecided voter here. The bottom line is to keep John McCain and his continuation of G.W. Bush's war and taxation policies out of The White House. It is also not just Democrats vs. Republicans. Some states have primaries where voters can only vote for a candidate from their registered political party. The Independents have to be factored in and can not be discounted as a factor that will determine who the next President is.

Yes...yes,i know,i understand what you are saying.Let´s wait until Senator Barack Obama chooses his running mate, and then we will continue this conversation...For now, check out tonight´s events (after the Primary in Puerto Rico),and next tuesday´s (the 3 FINAL contests)...It will be very interesting.

Some observations: Historically, the VP post doesn't mean too much. The only point...will this person be able to step in if needed. It is true JFK & LBJ couldn't stand one another; and as noted recently, LIeberman threw Gore under the bus in 2000. Reagan wasn't thrilled with Bush Sr. Democrats need to remember that yes it is important to take the white house....it is equally important to stregthen congressional seats esp. the senate. Otherwise it will be more of the same...i.e. you won't get anything done. The DNC totally screwed up Michigan yesterday and there are g.d. pissed off democrats around .....how they vote in the fall remains unknown as this point. And yes, it is true pissed off republicans and independents are needed in the fall. Don't be misled in thinking Obama's success in winning democrats in democrat only primaries means victory in the fall....it doesn't. Finally, it looks like there will be a 51st state in the relative future. btw, if ever you want to see a legal feeding frenzy, watch "Recount" as prep for the general election
-
I can't see Obama taking Hillary Clinton as his running mate. She won't help him that much, and I don't think Obama wants to spend the next four years watching his back. Obama might select another woman as his running mate. There are several good prospects who don't have Clinton's bagagge. As for the Clinton supporters who say they will vote for McCain if Obama is the nominee, I think for most part when they calm down and think about it, they'll realize that four years of Bush-lite is not going to be good for anyone, especially women.
-
It was punishment enough that the citizens in Florida & Michigan didn't have their vote counted -- if indeed they could vote at all in the primaries. But not to let their own Democrat delegates from the 2 States have a full vote, that's insult upon insult & injury! I wonder how many Demecrat voters from the 2 states will vote for anyone else, even a sure non-winner than to vote for a canditate rammed down their throats .... Time will tell ...
-
if Hillary manages to pull off suing her way into office. I hope Obama moves to the Independent party. I will too.

Update/Official Results/DNC :- I knew it. Puerto Rico´s Primary = more 20 delegates to Senator Obama. So,we have at this precise moment :-Senator Obama=2070 Total delegates = NOW ONLY 48 total delegates to the nomination. Tomorrow,FINAL 2 Democratic contests :- Montana(more 11 delegates to Barack Obama),and South Dakota(more 12 delegates to Obama, including SuperDelegates from these 2 States...)= 2092 total delegates + ONLY more 25 SuperDelegates (tonight and next days from other States...) = 2118 = Barack Obama´s NOMINATION.

Of course Howard Dean is going to say that the DNC ruling is fair. What else is he going to say? : In actuality, they screwed it up. Who ever heard of counting a full vote as a 1/2 vote and awarding delegates to someone who wasn't even on the ballot in Michigan? : : The DNC should have done right by the voters in both states and counted all the votes as whole votes. The electorate is being penalized by the ineptitude of their elected officials, which is wrong. Sen. Clinton's campaign agreed to the Florida compromise so I have no problem with that but Sen. Clinton played by the rules in Michigan but Sen. Obama didn't even respect the rights of the Michigan voters to cast their ballots by not even having his name on the ballot yet he was awarded delegates. The DNC screwed up royally in Michigan. Again, as in 2000, we have another tainted election process. : Registration of new voters is at an all time high but what kind of first impression and message are we sending to Michigan and Florida when we only partially count their votes? : Plus, in Florida's case that decision was made by Republican lawmakers. In my opinion, the wrong message. It's a matter of principle.

Hi EBCC, Respectfully, everyone is entitled to an opinion and has a right to express it. The DNC decision is still a fresh and controversial issue, yet you always say "Let's move on now ...". You seem to be in as much of a rush for Obama to become the nominee as Obama was to seize the moment to run for President and make history even though he lacks National experience. The debacle of the 2000 election is still being talked about almost 8 years later and I would not be surprised if the DNC's decision of May 31, 2008 also ends up being talked about for years to come. The decision is part of history and will be in future textbooks on U.S. Government History.

I agree, what is there to fear with letting the Michigan & Florida super delegates from having 1 whole vote apiece just like all the other States? Maybe things won't be settled as fast - but it appears that DNC thugs want to steal away the rights of Florida & Michigan super delegates from having an equal say in the candidate selection.

uh, there is no such thing as the "Independent" party When people say they are "Independent" they mean that they are neither a registered democrat or republican.
