Nice work Charlie!! Going pretty well here. And yourself??
-
Ooh, I didn't realise we had gotten down so far! I'm good, how's everyone else going? It's getting chilly here in Bris-Vegas!
-
Thanks Blackat for bringing us back up. Usually I would notice but thought I would do it tonight but glad you've done for us Aussies. Yes I come from Bris Vegas too and yes the nights are getting colder but the days are glorious, makes me wish I was on holidays in Straddie or Byron or Noosa Heads or even at home
-
Yeah let's get this thread back up to the top of the page! Cold as a Mother In Law's kiss here in Melbourne!!! Brrrr...
-
I can imagine, moptops! Any sign of snow? Btw, if Paul ever comes to Sydney he'd be entertained with the idea of their Liverpool? I always thought that was kinda cool!
-
Hasn't Paul ever given a concert solo or in Wings, in Oz? Looking at pix of the Beatles in Oz is amazing...looks like everybody in the entire vast country turned out to get a gander at the four moptops on their hotel balcony, with John smiling in total astonishment and amusement, and great wonder. Then yikes, pix of them giving the Heil Hitler salute to the adoring Aussie hordes.

Sure has! Solo he's been out with Wings in late 75 and on the New World Tour in 93... Time to come back Macca!!! .. if you're reading this..

No snow in Melbourne, but it's school holidays and there are hordes going up to the mountains for skiing, play and boozing!!! Good Jagermeister weather !!!

You should check out some of the concert footage; pretty wild, like some of the early R&R gigs. I think the Aussies may have invented the mosh pit!

LOL, I have the full unedited videotape of the Fabs at the Southern Cross balcony, and the crowds going BERSERK in Exhibition St below. We sure did invent the mosh pit!!! Both John and Paul give the Nazi salute to the crowd, and somebody (I think it's Ringo) yells "We'll give you tanks!" I think they came to invade Australia...

10,000 turned out to greet the Fabs in NYC, Feb 64, and in July over 300,000 turned out to greet them in Adelaide, which at the time had a population of about 1 million... Just amazing.

Hey guys, heard the announcement of the Stevie Wonder Australian tour?! I am so excited for it, and he's coming to Brisbane too on the 25th of October! And since it's at the Entertainment centre I'm going to get presales and get floor tickets! YAY!
-
Oh wow, I had no idea! That's brilliant that he's coming out here, and to Brissy especially! Good luck on getting tickets! By the way, for all you other Brisbane-nites - I heard that an Australian photographer held a party for the Beatles at the Chiffley on Lennon's in Queen Street Mall, prompting John to remark that he didn't know his family owned a hotel! I've been outside the hotel a few times recently and it looks like it hasn't changed much since the 60's. Does anybody have any more info on this? Ta!
-
I see that hotel a lot when I go to the city. Anyway, I had a thought - wouldn't it be cool if Paul played at Big Day Out 2009 as well as an arena tour?! That would be so amazing, it'd be like his appearance at Glastonbury, Him occupying the final two slots of the show on the main stage, two hours of playing, that'd be brilliant.

This from the Quebec concert thread... - - In 2008 he gave a concert in Kiev to mark Ukraine's independence and Liverpool, his hometown, that's all. «C'est le 400e anniversaire de Québec qui l'a attiré ici. "This is the 400th anniversary of Quebec, which has attracted here. Son équipe nous dit que pour aller quelque part «he has to have a reason» («il doit avoir une bonne raison»). His team tells us that to go somewhere "he has to have a reason (" it must have a good reason "). Cette année, il a dit non à Sydney (Australie) et à Pékin. This year, he said no to Sydney (Australia) and Beijing. Il sera à Québec.» It will be in Quebec City. " - - What is it with Paul and Australia??? Surely he owed us one big time after the 02 "postponement" of Driving Oz !!!
-
Maybe cause he doesn't sell a lot in Australia... "Memory Almost Full" best charted position: #33 "Chaos & Creation": #34 Who Knows...

That doesn't mean the fans aren't there, though. That'd be a silly reason to not tour.

If you went on Paul's current sales of his albums across the globe,he would not tour anywhere.Generally, his selling power has fallen away in the last 25 years. The corralation between sales and touring, is not really representative of a artists ticket selling power. The sad fact is most go to see Paul as a Beatle, not as a solo act.
