"Underappreciated Genius."

First off, Paul is an appreciated Genius and he holds many records and awards that prove that. However, he is under appreciated for his scope, the likes of no other. His range of music, from classic to pop, everything in between, to hip hop now... A Ballet, Ecce Cor Meum, Rushes, Electric Arguments the Celebration and Flute Enchantee, etc.... it's just unparalleled. I've read he's got more than 500 of his own paintings! Now that is something I'm really curious about... There are some really amazing ones that I've seen. I wonder if there are photos too? He is a concerned citizen of the world, an extremely caring and giving person who without fanfare does good deeds in a typical British modest and understated way. He is one of the most famous people in the world, yet he carries on as a regular guy going about his day...to a jet setter of the world. Paul is a true role model of an honestly good person. Sometimes, I wish he'd toot his own horn, promote his Wings and Solo material more. He has given away some great songs to other musicians! He's one of the really good Genius guys.
What a fabulous tribute to Macca, you've really outdone yourself--and every word is true

"500 of his own paintings"--wow. I've loved the art work by him that I've seen, loved the colors and textures and design. The subjects he chooses. Re-reading Barry Miles's "Many Years From Now" which he sort of co-authored with Paul, Paul has many lengthy direct quotes--I was struck by how avidly Paul was (still is) into his own drawing and painting and how well he knew the masters, Magritte, for example, is one of his favorites. Paul was into avant-garde too which is another underappreciated side of him. But there is a book out devoted to that aspect called "Avant-garde Paul" or something like that. He was brave and bold enough to hang out with William S. Burroughs, whom many would have found intimidating if not sort of frightening.

It looks like an interesting book Susy, hopefully, someday, we will see more of Paul's paintings as well as more of his Avante Garde works... Didn't know about William S. Burroughs either! The more you learn about Paul...he is one really amazing, interesting guy! I think he is like a Picasso, a creative whirlwind of a man, the kind that comes once in a century... I have the hard bound copy of Paul's paintings too, great book!

I don't particularly think a great deal of Paul's paintings/drawings, from what I have seen... but I am sure I haven't opened my mind to it and maybe there's a lot out there I need more exposure to.... that being said, not a real fan of what I have seen.

Have you ever heard Picasso sing? Paul's a better painter than Picasso is a singer.

^ awww so cute! We all know Picasso is one of the century's top artists Paul even had a song for him... Three Musicians - Picasso Another top artist Paul may have been influenced by, Willem de Kooning, his neighbor... Pink Angels - de Kooning http://www.moma.org/images/dynamic_content/exhibition_page/53598.jpg?1404310875 I know Linda loved Francis Bacon...another top artist Study of Velazquez's Pope Innocent - Bacon (on the right) http://www.phaidon.com/resource/francis-bacon-pope-innocente-x-velazquez-comparison.jpg These artists may have influenced Paul ( just guessing)
