If anyone is interested in a souvenir of the greatest concert ever, I have just made a 20"x30" canvas of some of the photos I took on Sunday. I am not trying to cash in or exploit the situation, but if anyone is genuinely interested, you can contact me via my email and I will email you with the details and how it looks.

I'm in agreement that Paul's voice isn't as perfect as it used to be. He still sings better than many modern singers half his age, but he hasn't quite got the range that he used to have. But how could he possibly be as good as when he was in his 20s or 30s? The guy is 68!!! I noticed on I've Got A Feeling on Sunday night that he was holding off from hitting some of the really high notes and re-phrasing the higher sections so they were a bit lower down the scale. But I think he was watching someone in the audience who was belting out the song along with him, and at one point towards the end of the song he went for the high note himself. I think you can hear it in this section from YouTube ...
It didn't quite sound as good as the Let It Be version, but so what? The bloke is - and always will be - a complete legend. I think it's fine for people on here to express their own views on Paul's voice. It isn't quite what it used to be, but he is still an amazing singer, musician and performer. -

it took me by suprise because my macca batteries are well and truely recharged by his wonderfull performance the other night. as you said it dosent mean i now think he sings every song brilliantly or indeed that his voice is anywhere near what it was. i do offer the opinion however that it dosent really matter.his shows are still unbeatable without the flawless vocal ability he used to posesss! and he can still rock better than anyone out there!
While we disagree on the subject of Macca singing The Long and Winding Road at Hampden, there is something that detracts from the song ... it's nothing to do with the quality of his singing but why does Paul feel the need to shout "BACK" in the final chorus? ... "Still they lead me BACK! " ... It kind of changes the vibe of the song completely from an otherwise contemplative song of reflection to one which gets needlessly shouty towards the end. That would be my only change during that number. Save the "BACK! " for Get Back!

he sings BACK..\because our man paul still believes he can give the song a raspy twist with his 68yrold vocal chords. if he stuck to the script and didnt 'ad lib' on many of his current live songs he would sound much better in my view.

What a great concert @ Hampden on sunday, been a beatles fan since my teens and played all the classics on my lil guitar since i been in my late teens so to actually see Paul live in the flesh in my home town and national stadium belting out one of his best vocal performances of his later years of gigging was out of this world. Im a very happy chappy. Got nearly every song on video and all full versions with great audio (not like some of the ones you find on youtube) Here is a link to my youtube channel for anyone who wants to have some memories of a great nite relived, so far iv uploaded 17 videos and im still uploding lol http://www.youtube.com/user/gordysmith1975

now im off to listen to 'the long and winding road' from tripping the live fantastic when he could still sing it with perfect vocals live!
That`s the funniest thing you`ve said!I guess you did not go to many shows in that tour!

Yeah, if I recall TTLF was a live album and tour with a raspy Paul at times, and that was over 20 years ago From all the clips I've watched his voice sounds fine, not quite 2002 callibar but still enough to be the best vocalist out there. During Isle of Wight he sounded pretty off but that's the nature of the beast called back to back shows. I can't imagine them being any good even to the younger performers of today. Sure My Love and TLAWR don't sound like they did 20 or even 10 years ago but they still sound good enough to be performed. In fact, I think he has stopped performing Maybe I'm Amazed because of its vocals, that's the first thing I thought of when I first saw it missing from the setlist. The good news is, Paul's catalogue is so large that he can throw away less-singable songs that have always been in his setlists and replace them with rareities such as Letting Go and Venus and Mars/Rockshow.

i actually did and 'the long and winding' was perfect every time. i have long since believed it is a bit of a myth that he was singing badly on the 1989/1990 tour.i thought he was fantastic. the 'tripping' version of that song is beautifull singing full stop. although his best live version was the one he did in rehearsal on the 'put it there' tv special[i think it came out as a bside to version 5 of birthday single or something like that\!

I was surprised he didn't do I saw Her Standing There but he can't do everything.
-
I saw Paul in Glasgow in 1990,and he nailed the high notes a lot more convincingly on some of his more challenging songs better at Hampden last Sunday.

Paul is still a competent singer and i recorded TLAWR and to be fair after listening to it again its pretty good. The best vocalists in the world would struggle to put in a perfect performance for an hours and a half never mind three hours and thats in their prime. On top of that macca is playing an array of instruments and is singing on every song. The greatest vocalist in my view was Freddie Mercury but even he had a 20 minute break when Brian May did his thing! McCartney unlike others is more than just a vocalist. He is a musician of the very highest calibre and a national treasure! Long may he remain so and I don't expect him to retire for a while yet. He seems to be having too much fun!
And Freddie is my all-time fav too, but his singing deteriorated as the concerts advanced... Queen used to play for 90 minutes, with a 20 minute instrumental part. And Freddie didn't sing most of the highs live... Hey, singers are humans, so they're gonna do mistakes... if you expect perfection, you're not gonna find it... I believe it's a technical problem... but who the heck I am to tell Paul McCartney how to sing? If he ever feels he has problems singing he can talk to tons of "vocal coaches" and such, so I wouldn't say this is the end of the end.

Been reading through the last few pages,re how good is Pauls voice now.I will readily concede that Paul can't sing as good as when he was 22.Thats a no brainer really - but I do believe he is still a great singer . Hampden was for me the best I've heard Paul for a good while.Lazy dynamite,I don't say this to contradict you - you are clearly a major fan,but I DID think the long and winding road sounded great - honestly. My wife was with me - she is a musician too, and uber critical, but she was WELL impressed.

I don't see really such a great difference compared to his 20s , as every singer, Paul has had his ups and downs... he was brilliant in many Beatle concerts and not so brilliant in other concerts... I don't know... check the Shea Stadium concert, the Budokan one... the Wings live videos... I've just seen a face 2010
I've Just seen a face 1975, it's not so different, only no-one could discuss about this this way in 1975
